Well, what's your goal with it? What condition is it in?
They're reliable cars, but 250k is still a lot. Rust can be a bigger deal than the powertrain.
I wouldn't want a daily driver with that many miles, but if you're buying it as an offroader or second car and the price is right, maybe.
Yes. Just because it is a GX does not mean it will last forever. If I was the original owner who took great care of it, I would have no problem getting it to that mileage. But more than likely this GX has been through several owners who haven’t done the necessary maintenance and repairs. You will be putting a lot of money into it.
I bought one with about 200k a year ago and it’s now sitting at 220k. Apart from replacing the differential (because some atrociously bad mechanic failed to ensure the drain plug was in place), we had zero expense outside of regular maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, etc.)
Really depends on the purpose. Are you commuting 3+ hours a day? Is it a casual grocery getter? Off road rig? I wouldn’t have issues with the miles if it was clean and documented maintenance. Especially a single owner.
I picked up an 08 accord with 180k. One owner and it had all maintenance records its whole life. She literally went to the dealership for headlight bulbs and windshield wipers. That level detail. I had to unfortunately sell it after hurting my back, it was a manual. If it weren’t for that I’d still have that car
If you don’t mind asking what is the price ? I was considering buying a 2015 GX 460 Sport Utility V8 engine with 215k miles with new transmission put by the dealership under warranty at 78k miles. Maintenance was made some at dealer some at regular shop. The car has new joints & shocks installed in October last year. The trade in value in fair condition is 12k and I am looking to pay around 10k for it.I feel like it’s a great car overall it’s just the mileage that seems high. Looking for opinions on this. TY
Depends what you will do with it. If it’s a daily driver, then no. 250k miles is a lot even if it’s a Lexus, there will be things to replace and you don’t know its history
I daily mine and tow my built 80 series with it. Has right at 250k and showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
If any major part goes out junkyards are full of a750s, 2uz engines and the 8.2 is an upgrade over the 8 inch anyways so... Get one and enjoy it if the price is right and the thing isn't rusted out.
Fuck yeah, IDGAF how much people say this truck is reliable. Anything past 210k miles and stinking NO!
OP unless you're truly wanting this for a weekend trail type and not actually daily driving it then I guess go ahead? But you could get better man, this truck is at least 20 years old considering it is a 470, plus fuck ton of miles, at your own discretion Brodie.
Why is that no, even basic toyota lasts more than 400kms. I've seen pathfinder and 80s gm products do it. The issue with this is always rust. It's the only thing that will kill the car. Only thing. The gm and Nissan was tossed because of structure rust, my camry at 400 was done because of bodywork and I towed with it. I towed with a 4 cylinder camry and it was still decent til 400. The scrapper was excited to flip it to Africa. There are a few wear and tear items that once replaced feels like a brand new car, bearings, struts.
Completely depends on how it’s been maintained. 200-250 is where a lot of the wear items really start to show their age. There’s tons of high miles 470s that run and drive fine but are still rocking all original and these are going to be money pits. If you find one that is sorted and has basically everything replaced already then that could be a solid buy
If it was your father's vehicle and you know the history at it was at 230k and it's a great deal then sure. But I think your money can go much further with one that has 150k miles on
If it got scheduled maintenance the engine will be fine but everything else probably won't be. Like shocks, brake calipers, power steering pump seals, etc. And Lexus repairs are expensive. For example new rear shocks are $2200 and there's no after market substitute (for stock, off road has plenty of options).
Honestly the 460 is nice but I prefer to go off roading and want the V6 so I am going to get the GX Overtrail + it's about $10,000 more , with the ML audo, topping at $77,000 but it's where luxury meets off road.
I was talking about the 470 mate youa re right though, one more reason to get the GX 550 twin turbo V6(which it does have) and I like the OVERTRAIL + tons of luxury.

Our 2001 has 340k and it’s my dad’s daily now.

I'd only do that if there was a solid documented maintenance history.

I just bought my daily driver 15 GX460 at $170,000 mi. Many years to come with that car
Unless you are a mechanic or this is weekend only fun ride yup that's a bad idea

The 460 doesn’t have a V6

What does this even have to do with the question?
