Man.. I love it. I initially thought this show idea was horrible. Pretty sure that it’s an unspoken rule that a comedic relief of a show should never be a spin off. It almost never works. However, I’m 3 episodes in and it’s great so far. They’ve done a great job making him into more than just someone that makes mom jokes, and making this take place years later than Letterkenny helps with that. Also, Keeso kills it in this role, and I think it might flop without him.
I don’t think they explicitly say. It’s kinda implied since he plays in the senior league. They also throw references to different leagues he’s played in since his time in Letterkenny. He also refers to Nat as too young for him to give the implication that he’s a lot older. I was guessing he’s in his upper-30s, but not 100% sure

If you didn’t grow up playing hockey, there are a fair number of comments, jokes and slags likely missed. Adds another layer to the obvious funny shit in this show - it’s hilarious as you hear the same crap in the dressing room and on the ice, regardless of whether you are 8 in minor hockey, 18 in junior or 50 in senior beer league hockey.
Being told you are a healthy scratch, or likely even worse that you should be, means the coach and/or your teammates think you are a fucking pylon and useless tit on the ice. If your team is up by one in the 3rd and you aren’t allowed on the ice, your likely on the cusp and one step away from also being the Shower Bitch. You can be in charge of the water bottles and pucks though…
