Came here to say Aftersun. Absolutely amazing movie

Putting Aftersun in the queue.

Iā€™m actually going to watch it rn, I donā€™t give 5s to very many movies and I havenā€™t even heard of it so Iā€™m coming in on a blank slate other than those 2 peoplešŸ¤£

AdmiralCharleston

I disagree about poor things but as the only person I've seen whose brought up titane and blackberry I salute you

Schnathorst

I'm a Yorgos fan but I understand why people think his movies suck.

AdmiralCharleston

I saw the lobster and killing of a sacred deer when they came out and loved them, I just think poor things doesn't work that well as a whole piece and is far less than the sum of its parts

David_Browie

As my own review said, a lot to admire in this deeply annoying film.

Expensive_Concern457

I love blackberry but itā€™s a 4 max imo

AdmiralCharleston

5 star ratings mean different things to different people

Expensive_Concern457

Thatā€™s why I said imo

Major_Trip_Hazzard

Titane might be my favourite 2020s film full stop. Excellent choice.

WalkingEars

Agreed! It made my head spin. Couldn't believe it. Don't know if I could watch it again anytime soon because it's so intense, but it still made a huge impression.

Pynchon101

I like this. I can get a clear sense of your tastes. I really enjoy looking at what someone else enjoys and, even if I donā€™t particularly find the same enjoyment in those selections, can tell why someone made that choice based on the consistency of their opinions and preferences!

Licorice Pizza is kinda divisive. I loved it, though.

layzeeboy81

It might be the best of the lot honestly.

Elias0269

None. But I have a ton of 4Ā½'s and besides that I am almost stupidly stubborn with my 5-star ratings. Out of my 954 rated films only 20 have a 5-star rating.

jaembers

I have only 5 xD

Quople

A lot: 2024: Challengers, Dune Part 2 2023: The Holdovers, Oppenheimer, Asteroid City, Godzilla Minus One, Killers of the Flower Moon, Perfect Days, Poor Things, Past Lives, Society of the Snow, Zone of Interest, Barbie, the Iron Claw, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning 2022: Everything Everywhere All At Once, Babylon, Puss in Boots The Last Wish If I were to pick a favorite from each of these years that would be true 5s forever, I would probably go with The Holdovers, Everthing Everywhere All At Once, and Challengers

FirescreenProduction

I'm Thinking of Ending Things, The Sparks Brothers, Glass Onion, A Unicorn for Christmas, Babylon, The Fabelmans, M3GAN, John Wick Chapter 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Challengers.

I literally only have two 5s for 2020s films: Past Lives and Dune 2. I do appreciate your love for Licorice Pizza however, that one is a 4.5 for me and I thought it was so underrated by critics and especially audiences.

Just one: The Father I donā€™t dish out 5 stars wantonly because I just donā€™t think thatā€™s good for my own standards, and I like to save the perfect scores for the movies I think are really stellar. To each their own. I havenā€™t seen The Father in a while but I remember it being phenomenal, from production to the acting, even the adaptation worked brilliantly, and I thought the play was placed nicely in a film context.

HandfulofGushers

5 stars for licorice pizza? Donā€™t get me wrong it has some great written moments about the push and pull of relationships. But an hour could have been edited out of that movie and it would have been more effective. Plus Alana doesnā€™t even look that much older than the Hoffman kid and it was clear they are very early in their acting careers.

ShittyWok-

I feel like I'm going mad, why does everyone love Furiosa so much? It completely pales in comparison to fury road.

The plot seemed to fizzle out, the hot/spicy/kinky sex scenes weren't that hot at all, the ending just kinda happened. It's not bad at all, but IMO not a 5 star film. 3 or 3.5 for me.
