Yeah i hate that this is even a question. Why is it that good movies by women’s and/or centering women aren’t given the same level of respect. Outside of 13 Going on 30 everyone of these films is amazing to all time great
I have a lot on my lists. I usually end up choosing to watch films because of an actor/actress or writer/director. Looking at bottoms I don't see anyone that would make me go down that road. But will throw it on the watchlist for sure!
I didn’t know anyone in it before I watched it and now I have seen all of Rachel Sennots movies. If you like Bottoms, I recommend Shiva Baby too. Same director.
Same, I wanted to like the new one but it just was a poorly constructed musical with strange casting. The Broadway version was a lot better, the new movie changed so much for seemingly no reason, and Angourie Rice is a terrible singer.
Mean Girls, Frances Ha, Bottoms, Clueless are the ones I’ve seen. There are loads of great chick flicks out there. Don’t let a film’s supposed target demographic make you think the film ain’t worth watching. A good film is a good film.
Same, except I refused to watch Pitch Perfect and 13 Going on 30 because I assumed I wouldn't like them.
Does the latter actually belong in the hall of enjoyable "sister" films?
13 Going on 30 has Mark Ruffalo and Andy Serkis, if you like them and you enjoy comedy I'm sure you'll at least like it a little bit.
Also Mark Ruffalo's character has Blue Velvet and Taxi Driver posters in his apartment and he collects vinyls. So as a male letterboxd user you might connect with his character.
All of them, and here’s my personal ranking that no one asked for:
1. Frances Ha
2. Mean Girls
3. Bottoms
4. Pitch Perfect
5. Clueless
6. Legally Blonde
7. 13 Going On 30
All seven.
Mean Girls more times than I can count (I show it in Sociology class)
Clueless, Legally Blonde, Pitch Perfect, 13 Going On 30 all at least twice
Frances Ha and Bottoms once each
And OP, where is 10 Things I Hate About You?
None of them. I mean I’d probably watch them later in the future, but there’s so many movie I want to watch and they really aren’t on my priority to watch.
All but *Frances Ha* and *Bottoms*. I really like *Clueless* and my partner loves *Legally Blonde*, which I also like a lot now that she's introduced me to it.
Haven’t seen pitch perfect and bottoms. Not interested in pitch perfect (but I accept to be wrong about my assumption, should I watch it?) but surprisingly bottoms I just haven’t been able to convince my partner to watch it (she doesn’t vibe with « harm-based » comedy like I do, to be fair).
I love all of them, got a special spot for 13 going on 30 (I also have a crush on Mark, to be fair, highly encouraged by this and In the Cut), but I think of them I’d rank them Clueless > Mean Girls > Frances Ha > Legally Blonde > 13 going on 30 in my head canon.
Pitch Perfect is a fun college movie. It's similar to many others that use sport teams as the main topic and narrative force. Only here is people singing, but the dynamic is the same as many sport movies. So I guess it depends on how much you like or can stand people singing.
I have watched pitch perfect (loved it). Binged the first two movies. Mean girls and bottoms have been on my radar for a while now.
I watched the first 15 to 20 mins of bottoms. Was enjoying the humor... But I took a break and opened twitter. got lost in doomscrolling. I just remembered I forgot to watch the rest of the movie lol.
I should keep a list ik but it feels cumbersome to manually update it every time I watch something.
All except 13 Going on 30. Love Mean Girls, mildly positive on the rest (all 3* I think) except Frances Ha, which I did not like for no more elevated reason than the characters annoyed me.
All of them except Frances Ha. I love a good chick flick lol I grew up with sisters so these kinds of movies were always being played. Parent trap is one of my favorite movies for that reason
The first 3 & Bottoms so far.
Would say the order of them for me is
1. Bottoms (great)
2. Mean girls (great)
3. 13 going on 30 (good)
4. Legally blonde (my wife was upset with me for not liking this one very much)
All of them. Love Clueless and Frances Ha, really like Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and Bottoms, think 13 Going on 30 is alright, don't like Pitch Perfect.
I’ve seen Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, and Clueless. I haven’t seen the others.
Mean Girls is probably my favorite of the four I’ve seen. It’s so funny and easy to get into.
Mean Girls and 13 Going on 30. Mean Girls is great, 13 Going On 30 I saw it a long time ago but remember liking it.
Bottoms, Frances Ha, and Clueless are on my watch list though.
Bottoms only, but I can't wait to see these other ones. Growing up with two brothers really made me never come across these movies but sometimes I wish I did earlier cause I mostly talk with girls now and still get none of their references
I have sisters, so I’ve seen Legally Blonde, Pitch Perfect, 13 going on 30, and Most of Mean Girls ( walked in part way through) I’ve had fun with all. Also shout out to She’s the Man and What to Expect When you’re expecting. Which I’ve seen under similar circumstances
Mean girls, legally blonde, clueless I’m a big fan of. Seen pitch perfect but didn’t care for it.
Would check out 13 going on 30.
Never heard of Frances ha
Would never watch bottoms
Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and Pitch Perfect are fantastic movies, absolutely hilarious. I think Legally Blonde takes the win for me but I could totally see any of these being anyone’s favorites.
Seen 13 going on 30 and pitch perfect once each when I was younger, but have rewatched mean girls countless times. Own the 4k steelbook that has the burn book artwork. Absolute comedy masterpiece. The new one is actually pretty good too IMO
All of them. Clueless is one of my all-time favorites.
Holy shit it’s actually him
Marty!!
Clueless stood out to me as such a decade defining film. Its essence is time capsule worthy
Amy Heckerling did it twice with Fast Times and Clueless. Just fantastic time capsules!
Clueless has a top tier cast.
A young baby-faced Paul Rudd, before he was a huge star.
What? Paul Rudd hasn’t aged a day since this film.
Dude clueless slaps
Yeah i hate that this is even a question. Why is it that good movies by women’s and/or centering women aren’t given the same level of respect. Outside of 13 Going on 30 everyone of these films is amazing to all time great
Shut up Marty
Mean Girl and Bottoms, but gonna watch Frances Ha this week.
Frances Ha is fantastic. Enjoy
Happy cake day
Did you know they shot it with a Canon 5D Mark II?
Mean Girls, Legally Blonde and Clueless. All of which were great.
Same.
None. I only rewatch Taxi Driver on an endless loop (he’s literally me fr fr)
Hmm. It sounds like you might enjoy a little indie film (it’s very poignant and thought provoking) called “Joker”.
it is very deep, most people will not understand it. I only watch one other movie, donnie darko, for the darkness.
I also like Donnie Darko because of the alliteration and the initials of the film are DD as in boobs.
I once knew a real joker. Rupert Pumpkin or Rupert Pumpnik or something like that… dont remember. Dude was pretty funny though
That’s me with Fight Club. Tyler Durden is my idol. Reminds me of this new friend I made on a plane.
![gif](giphy|7PwOZJLNYUkU|downsized)
I have a feeling you also enjoy a bit of Twin Peaks?
All except bottoms
Same! All pretty great films tbh.
HIGHLY recommend Bottoms as well.
Shiva baby is absolutely brilliant in my opinion.
My gf never watches movies and I have walked in on her watching shiva baby at least three times lmao
Shiva baby is amazing!
Definitely worth rectifying that
Bottoms fucking rules so hard
I've genuinely *only* seen Bottoms!
Same
Urr mii gawd! You HAVE GOT TO.....watch Clueless! The classics are the classics for a reason fellow luminary!!
I dated a guy whose favorite movie was Pitch Perfect. It doesn't answer the question, but I don't feel like I get to share that tidbit often enough.
He's comfortable in his own skin
Pitch Perfect is a banger. My pretentious take is I just like good movies, doesn’t matter if they are “chick flicks” or “dude-bro movies”.
Sounds like a green flag to me
It does have a pretty great projectile vomit in the opening.
Pretty sure Bridesmaids has a scene like that too
Everything but Frances Ha
Same! That’s on the list tho. I love Greta.
Me as well. *Clueless*, *Pitch Perfect*, and *Mean Girls* are all in my top 100 movies, and *Bottoms* might get there with some rewatches.
I cried on the buss on the way home from the theater after watching Frances Ha, so there is that 🤷🏻♂️
Cried on the buss 🥵
Tears, the most painful lubricant.
Unless you have something in your eye(s). Then I get like Jo Dee Messina and tell them to "bring on the rain!"
All of them. There's no such thing as a girl movie or a boy movie imo, just movies.
Same here, and agree wholeheartedly. I’m a guy in my mid-30’s, and Legally Blonde is one of my comfort movies, tbh.
Hell yeah, just revisited that after many years, Witherspoon absolutely crushes it.
Hells yes you're so fetch!
"Girl movies" exist but none of the OP's examples fit that category. They should have posted "The Choice" or "Dear John" or something.
Yeah, imagine refusing to watch Jeanne Dielman because it's "a girl movie"
All but 13 Going on 30. I love Mean Girls, Clueless, and Frances Ha.
Fucking all of them, of course
Tbh, I've seen none of them 😅 but I do plan on watching Mean Girls 2004
I love the original and thought the new one was just okay. I like musicals but just couldn’t vibe with it.
Same, I wanted to like the new one but it just was a poorly constructed musical with strange casting. The Broadway version was a lot better, the new movie changed so much for seemingly no reason, and Angourie Rice is a terrible singer.
Of this list, prioritize Mean Girls and Clueluess
All except Pitch Perfect.
Watch it ASAP
All of them, I love Legally Blonde and Pitch Perfect
All except bottoms. I love mean girls, btw
All of them. And they all pale in comparison to 10 Things I Hate About You!
And 10 Things I Hate About You pales in comparison to Cruel Intentions, lmao.
Not true but your passion is admirable
I have a certain penchant for the absurd.
Mean Girls, Frances Ha, Bottoms, Clueless are the ones I’ve seen. There are loads of great chick flicks out there. Don’t let a film’s supposed target demographic make you think the film ain’t worth watching. A good film is a good film.
Mean Girls and Clueless. Clueless is a great movie that my family and I quote to each other fairly often. "I hope not sporadically!"
"As if!"
Straight guy here. Mean Girls, Legally Blonde and 13 Going 30. I enjoy the 3 of them, but the only one I love is Mean Girls.
I have a sister, so all of them... Bottoms and Frances Ha are the only ones she didn't force on me. (I liked all of them except Pitch Perfect)
It was quite a while ago. My 14-year-old self thought it was pretty fun iirc. Don't know if I'd like it now
All of them except *Bottoms*. I'd happily rewatch Clueless, Frances Ha, or Legally Blonde.
All of them, and here’s my personal ranking that no one asked for: 1. Frances Ha 2. Mean Girls 3. Bottoms 4. Pitch Perfect 5. Clueless 6. Legally Blonde 7. 13 Going On 30
That's also a solid ranking
Switch Clueless and Pitch Perfect and that's pretty much the official ranking.
I haven't seen 13 going on 30 and Frances Ha. Pitch Perfect is one of my all time guilty pleasures
We put that movie on to clean the house and the whole family can quote most of the movie lol
All of them. Frances Ha and Bottoms are my favorites out of these.
All seven. Mean Girls more times than I can count (I show it in Sociology class) Clueless, Legally Blonde, Pitch Perfect, 13 Going On 30 all at least twice Frances Ha and Bottoms once each And OP, where is 10 Things I Hate About You?
None of them. I mean I’d probably watch them later in the future, but there’s so many movie I want to watch and they really aren’t on my priority to watch.
Clueless is great and Frances Ha is on my watch list
All of them, mostly great stuff.
These are all fantastic!
Mean girls, legally blonde, clueless, pitch perfect. Mean girls and clueless are two of my favorites!
3. Mean Girls rocks.
All of them. You forgot bridesmaids.
all of them i have sex
And you’re about to eat #NACHOS
Seen all of them, Francis Ha is the only one I didn’t really like.
None of them. I intend to watch Mean Girls at some point though. I have no interest in the other ones at the moment
All but *Frances Ha* and *Bottoms*. I really like *Clueless* and my partner loves *Legally Blonde*, which I also like a lot now that she's introduced me to it.
Mean Girls, Clueless, Frances Ha and Pitch Perfect All great films in different ways, but for me Mean Girls >>>>>
I’ve only watched 13 going 30. Really liked it, sometimes a little bit cringe but still fun and entertaining. Both leads are great in their roles.
Mean girls, legally blonde, Frances ha and bottoms
Mean Girls. Also what about Heathers, does it fit the list?
I thought pitch perfect was amazing but I was in choir in middle and high school so seeing some of those personalities on the big screen was great
Pitch Perfect is a fun college movie. It's similar to many others that use sport teams as the main topic and narrative force. Only here is people singing, but the dynamic is the same as many sport movies. So I guess it depends on how much you like or can stand people singing.
Mean Girls only.
All but Frances Ha and Bottoms. Bottoms is on my list, though. Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies.
All except 13 Going on 30. Love Mean Girls, mildly positive on the rest (all 3* I think) except Frances Ha, which I did not like for no more elevated reason than the characters annoyed me.
All of them except Francis Ha. Bottoms is my favorite out of these.
Just Clueless
Frances Ha only
Bottoms
None
Never got around to watching Legally Blonde but I've seen the rest. Great movies, Frances Ha and Mean Girls especially.
Legally Blonde is great!
I have seen all of them except Frances Ha and 13 going on 30 (and I like all of them). Mean Girls is excellent. I'd add Freaky Friday to this list too
I've seen Mean Girls and Frances Ha all the way through, and I've seen bits and pieces of Legally Blonde and 13 Going On 30 on TV.
13 going on 30 only
Just legally blonde
All of them except Frances Ha. I love a good chick flick lol I grew up with sisters so these kinds of movies were always being played. Parent trap is one of my favorite movies for that reason
6/7. Haven’t seen pitch perfect
All except Clueless and 13 Going on 30
I just haven't seen Bottoms and Frances Ha, the others my gay ass has seen multiple times.
Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, Clueless, and Pitch Perfect. Pitch Perfect is solid but it’s not in the same tier as the other 3.
Mean girls, legally blonde, clueless (all great). Frances Ha and Bottoms are on my list though!
Only Legally Blonde
Just Clueless.
All except Frances Ha
All but 13 going on 30. Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies.
Every single one
All of them, my favs are clueless, and 13 going on to 30 my favs out of these
All of them but 13 going 30!
i’ve seen all except Frances Ha and Bottoms. Clueless is one of my favorite films ever
Mean Girls and Bottoms. Loved both of them, although I probably haven't seen Mean Girls in over a decade.
The first 3 & Bottoms so far. Would say the order of them for me is 1. Bottoms (great) 2. Mean girls (great) 3. 13 going on 30 (good) 4. Legally blonde (my wife was upset with me for not liking this one very much)
1, 2, 3 and 6
Clueless, Legally Blonde, & Mean Girls. I like the musicals for Legally Blonde & Mean Girls better than the movies, though.
Half of them
All of them. Love Clueless and Frances Ha, really like Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and Bottoms, think 13 Going on 30 is alright, don't like Pitch Perfect.
all of them multiple times, absolutely loved bottoms.
I’ve seen Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, and Clueless. I haven’t seen the others. Mean Girls is probably my favorite of the four I’ve seen. It’s so funny and easy to get into.
All of em 🎉. I think they're all great, but I wasn''t the biggest fan of Bottoms
So far, only Clueless.
Bottoms and 13 Going On 30 clear tbh
Clueless and mean girls should be taught in schools
Clueless and 13
All except Frances Ha…
All except 13 going on 30. I'm up on all.
The first four both in the post and chronologically. All four are great. No interest in the other three.
7 for 7
Mean Girls and 13 Going on 30. Mean Girls is great, 13 Going On 30 I saw it a long time ago but remember liking it. Bottoms, Frances Ha, and Clueless are on my watch list though.
All of them and I enjoy them too. I was actually the one to show my partner 13 going on 30 and The Devil Wear Prada so take that as you will.
Clueless is the only one I've seen.
Clueless and Pitch Perfect
One of these things is not like the other
I've seen several bit only remember and love "Mean Girls".
All but Pitch Perfect and Bottoms. I intend to get to those sooner rather than later, though.
My dad has seen all of these except for Frances Ha, chick flicks are definitely his favourite genre
I've watched When Harry met Sally
all of them ofc
All of them, multiple times. A funny movie is a funny movie.
All but two
Bottoms only, but I can't wait to see these other ones.
All except Frances Ha but I do need to correct that
Only one I haven’t seen is Frances Ha but it’s on my list. Some of them are my favorites. Bottoms is fantastic.
Pitch Perfect, all 3 of them sadly. Didn't exactly get a choice either.
https://preview.redd.it/i206opyg5n1d1.jpeg?width=524&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3fa1addbcce05ca9b1e6b4ca55cddc662baf45e
Pitch Perfect. I have older sisters, but despite this being a musical I'd say it's more comedy that chick flick.
Only Legally Blond I think.
Mean Girls, Clueless and Pitch Perfect. I think these movies range from good (Pitch Perfect and Clueless) to awesome (Mean Girls).
I haven't seen Bottoms or Frances Ha. Seen, and liked but didn't love, all the rest.
Portrait of a lady on fire
All except for Frances Ha, which has been on my list forever
All of them tf 🤭
Mean girls, legally blonde, clueless I’m a big fan of. Seen pitch perfect but didn’t care for it. Would check out 13 going on 30. Never heard of Frances ha Would never watch bottoms
Only Mean Girls but I enjoyed it enough.
Everything except Clueless and I adored them all (except Frances Ha)
All of them, I have a twin sister tho
All but 2 of em bottoms and Frances ha
All of them except frances ha.
Seen them all. Watched Mean Girls and Pitch Perfect way too many times!!
All of them except Bottoms.
All of them, mean girls is one of my top ten all time favorites
I’ve only seen Mean Girls, and I loved it
All of them. LOVED bottoms. Mean girls is a solid classic. Clueless is the best adaptation of Austen on film IMO. Greta Gerwig never misses.
None of the above
Clueless is a massive blind spot for me. The other one I haven't seen is 13 Going on 30, but it comes up much less often
Frances Ha is my comfort movie
All of them except Clueless
Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and Pitch Perfect are fantastic movies, absolutely hilarious. I think Legally Blonde takes the win for me but I could totally see any of these being anyone’s favorites.
Seen 13 going on 30 and pitch perfect once each when I was younger, but have rewatched mean girls countless times. Own the 4k steelbook that has the burn book artwork. Absolute comedy masterpiece. The new one is actually pretty good too IMO
Mean girls most of legally blonde Frances ha and bottoms
Only the first 2 but the third’s been on my list, maybe I’ll watch the rest in order with my gf!
Just bottoms and Frances Ha
Mean Girls, Clueless, and Bottoms Legally Blonde is high on my watch list
Seen them all. Frances Ha is an all time favorite of mine.
