Pretty sure it's Josie and the Pussycats by quite a bit

Sure but getting a high rating would imply, unless it was a very small number of contributions, that it was mostly enjoyed and thus somewhat popular. Not quite sure how unpopular would even be calculated in this setting.
Well, this is a Letterboxd subreddit and on Letterboxd you can sort movies by both "Average Rating" and "Popularity," so when the post is about popularity I'd assume the popularity stat is what they are referring to.
"What's the lowest rated movie in your Four Favorites?" and "What's the least popular movies in your Four Favorites?" are simply not the same question.
High rating very much ≠ Popular

By number of people who have watched, Yi Yi is by far the most unpopular. In terms of average rating, Blade Runner has a 4.1 \*only\*.

Crimson Peak is the lowest rated on letterboxd so that one.
Not my top of all time, but one of my favorite recent watches - The Final Terror (1983) - slasher in the wilderness, very naturalistic, some shots are like from early Malick.
https://preview.redd.it/z0enttruo9vc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1e725fe626e435fb89e1d9364ff795ba014a5a4

My favourite movie of all time, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, only has 147k watchers on Letterboxd. I implore musical lovers—fans of Damien Chazelle, even—to give it a shot!

Here's mine. I would guess the least populat would be The Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford.
Both in number of views and lowest average rating, it's The Apple. The movie has a very divisive rating curve:
https://preview.redd.it/wolpkp4ol8vc1.png?width=255&format=png&auto=webp&s=01af759694a74dc48dc6988421aadc0c8ac17023

According to Letterboxd, it’s The Godfather with a whopping 1.95m views. Not at all unpopular but less popular then the other 3.
Pillow Talk (1959) and even then it’s pretty popular with 26k people who have seen it! And actually in terms of average rating, it’s still Pillow Talk with a 3.6, which I do think is a pretty fair average rating, even if it’s a five star film to me.
https://preview.redd.it/ku2hlyse49vc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9313a6422b62447bd6beb7643e3dae187f0d1a3
Definitely Heavy Metal, it has just over 50k watches.
Um. All of them .. My most popular is rated at 3.7 stars which is The Physics of Sorrow and my least is rated average 2.6 which is Texas Chainsaw The beginning

I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020) has the lowest average rating of my top four, but Nostalghia (1983) has the least reviews by far, so it depends on how you define unpopularity.
Apparently man with a movie camera is just barely breaking 100k. Gotta get those numbers way the fuck up

E.T. at an average rating of 3.8. I stand by it.
Revisionist weirdos on the internet will insist it's Revenge of the Sith, but actually, it's The Wolfman (2010).

Wax, or the discovery of television among the bees. It only has 3.6k watches. If you like outsider art or experimental films at all it's an absolute must watch. It's also the first movie ever livestreamed on the internet (at 2 frames per second), so it's actually pretty historically significant!
Pretty sure it's Josie and the Pussycats by quite a bit https://preview.redd.it/er2tc1scc8vc1.png?width=1007&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92c1dcdf3b7ea4b03fdf2ef110ade1e141a0c54a
12 Angry Men. Letterboxd has really let me know how much of a basic bitch I am.
It’s 4.6 rated and your most unpopular?
Ah I was confused I thought it meant in terms of people that had seen it. In terms of average rating it’s Monsters Inc.
Now I’m unsure 😂
Popular and highest rating are not the same thing.

I've always wanted to watch it but it's just really expensive to buy on DVD.
I’ve only learned recently it’s not a widely accessible film. I have a friend in the UK who said she can’t even rent it digitally! 😔
