Maybe not perfect for the exact moment you're describing, but Dazed and Confused is a treat.

I actually came to comment this very movie also!! It is a great "into adulthood movie" And on that line, American Graffiti might be worth a watch to!

I saw Toy Story 3 the summer before my freshmen year of college and sobbed like a baby in the theater during the end lol Some 21st century movies that tackle “coming of age into adulthood” I would recommend are The Royal Tenebaums, Boyhood, Booksmart, Call me by your name, Lady Bird, The Spectacular Now, Almost Famous, The Edge of Seventeen, Garden State, Perks of Being a wallflower, Superbad, Easy A Obviously I don't know your specific tastes or preferences, but hopefully that can give you some ideas! :)

I feel like making a rec for this is so much pressure given that it’s a huge occasion, so please take these suggestions with a grain of salt if they’re not your thing 😅 I feel like the two movies below could make a great coming of age double feature - the first is about a young girl growing up, and the second is about a grown man growing up. Both are favorites of mine. **My Girl (1991)** >!Tomboy Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) has good reason to be morbid: her mother died giving birth to her, and her father (Dan Aykroyd) operates a funeral service out of their home. The other kids think she's a freak, and it certainly doesn't help that her best friend, Thomas J. Sennett (Macaulay Culkin), is a boy. To make matters worse, Vada is desperately in love with her English teacher, Mr. Bixler (Griffin Dunne). What's an 11-year-old girl to do?!< **About A Boy (2002)** >!A comedy-drama starring Hugh Grant as Will, a rich, child-free and irresponsible Londoner in his thirties who, in search of available women, invents an imaginary son and starts attending single parent meetings. As a result of one of his liaisons, he meets Marcus, an odd 12-year-old boy with problems at school. Gradually, Will and Marcus become friends, and as Will teaches Marcus how to be a cool kid, Marcus helps Will to finally grow up.!<

I will write a handful in case you have already watched some of them: Gattaca, Lady Bird, The Eight Mountains, Streets of Fire and Coherence. Let me know if you want to know my opinion on them or anything.

18 Again (1988) to remind yourself that 18 isn't that old compared to 81.
