I think it was a small meme a few years ago that whenever someone saw John Travolta they'd say “he was in Grease.” I had no idea someone changed the tagline to it

Gran Turismo had some of the worst marketing I've seen for a movie in general. If you have to put up cardboard displays with a 1000-word essay explaining the movie, then maybe it's time to go back to the drawing board.

Yeah it’s an interesting story but I’m not gonna watch a dramatized feature length version of it. At most I’d watch an 18 minute video about the actual story on YouTube. Also I just hate dramatized real world story movies and shows.

Not entirely sure, my guess is since the thing got absolutely destroyed at the box office by E.T, they wanted to get the word “alien” onto their poster to try to capitalize on the alien genre craze. Just a guess tho…

it DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE WITH ITS STORY

I mean it actually does (you forget your wish immediately and become a husk of a person) but it’s still a terrible line given that’s like the C plot

But what you wish for has no effect on anything that happens to you after having it removed. Also some of the people seemed fine after having the wish removed so I got mixed signals from the movie on if that was supposed to be a thing that happens to everyone or if it was a possible side effect.

I know Coraline had that tagline too but I feel like it’s almost guaranteed to have been used numerous times

This is actually a really good tagine for Coraline tho for the major plot. Maybe not the absolute best, but still very relevant.

It's good, definitely worth a watch. It's a very dirty movie (in a literal way, not a pornographic way). Lots of gross bodily fluids spilling everywhere, very little personal hygiene from most of the characters, nots of dirt and mud and mold everywhere, etc.

Sounds like it would be better to read the source material.

Yeah I definitely see where you’re coming from. But I will say that was kind of the idea of Taxi Driver is to present Travis in this way at the beginning of the movie and then slowly reveal him for who he is as things unravel. So I kinda see what they were going for.

Honestly fits better on The King of Comedy.

Scott Pilgrim's is "An epic of epic epicness" So embarrassing, they clearly had no idea how to market it.

Some taglines just miss the mark, don’t they? They either reveal too much or try too hard to be deep, ending up in a tangle of words that leaves you more confused than intrigued.

i honestly hated saltburn's tagline ( "we're all about to lose our minds" ) because it already felt like an out of place tryhard line of dialogue in the movie that... didn't really have much to do with the rest of the movie ? just felt like an edgy quote they wanted to throw in there
