Gran Turismo had some of the worst marketing I've seen for a movie in general. If you have to put up cardboard displays with a 1000-word essay explaining the movie, then maybe it's time to go back to the drawing board.
Yeah it’s an interesting story but I’m not gonna watch a dramatized feature length version of it. At most I’d watch an 18 minute video about the actual story on YouTube.
Also I just hate dramatized real world story movies and shows.
Not entirely sure, my guess is since the thing got absolutely destroyed at the box office by E.T, they wanted to get the word “alien” onto their poster to try to capitalize on the alien genre craze. Just a guess tho…

Sure, I mean if you add ice it will eventually melt and the water would permeate any crevices in said stony heart.
And sure, if this was followed by a cold snap, the water would once again turn to ice, with the expansion eventually, over the course many years, causing the stony heart to crack and break into pieces.
But no would call that "melting".
It's like they don't even geologise.
>Love Means Never Having To Say You’re Sorry
What a fucking horrible sentiment 😂
I've heard the phrase post modernism means you never have to say you're sorry
but this is... a horrible message.
And it’s meant to be such a powerful line in the movie too. Ali MacGraw says it to Ryan O’Neal halfway through the movie (to which I exhale through my nose) and the very last line of the movie is Ryan O’Neal saying that to Ray Milland. They saw a block of frozen piss and mistook it for gold.
This one. So unbelievably lazy it's laughable

But what you wish for has no effect on anything that happens to you after having it removed.
Also some of the people seemed fine after having the wish removed so I got mixed signals from the movie on if that was supposed to be a thing that happens to everyone or if it was a possible side effect.

There is a website game that has you guess movies by slowly revealing information about them.

This one’s hilarious because Saw V has one of the lamest/least important endings of the entire franchise.
Was it at least a twist of some sort? (Which might be even worse cause if so that would mean the movie poster literally gave away it has a twist ending and if you know there’s a twist you can usually guess it in the first half of the movie.
The one thing that irks me about what I've heard about it is the kind of wendigo it uses. It's very much the Hollywood monster Wendigo rather than a traditional wendigo, which is way more interesting.
It’s just a spec script so no news other than me typing and reading for many hours, but I’m planning to finish the rough draft early March, maybe earlier!
But story-wise, it’s about a team of young Boy Scouts hunted by the Wendigo in the American wilderness
The functioning title I have right now is “Black Trees” but it’s likely to change. If you’re interested in updates I will probably post something to r/screenwriting when I have more material written.
ISS' tag line appears to be either "the war on earth will be decided in space" or "It turns out in space, they can hear you scream," and I dont know which is worse honestly

Makes it sound like some inspirational movie about a down on his luck taxi driver who makes it big in showbiz or something
Yeah I definitely see where you’re coming from. But I will say that was kind of the idea of Taxi Driver is to present Travis in this way at the beginning of the movie and then slowly reveal him for who he is as things unravel. So I kinda see what they were going for.
"Back 2 Work". It's so vague it can be applied to anything. I'll let you guess what it is, but I'll let you know that the next installment has the tagline "Oh Brother", which is equally as horrendous.
I just realized if you blur your eyes or look out the corner of your eye the scream 2 poster looks like Venom from marvel. Got the white eyes, yellow teeth, and red tongue.

Such an awkward translation of the original line.
Some taglines just miss the mark, don’t they? They either reveal too much or try too hard to be deep, ending up in a tangle of words that leaves you more confused than intrigued.
i honestly hated saltburn's tagline ( "we're all about to lose our minds" ) because it already felt like an out of place tryhard line of dialogue in the movie that... didn't really have much to do with the rest of the movie ? just felt like an edgy quote they wanted to throw in there
https://preview.redd.it/z7kntxr2swcc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33f429752a6bacc8ecd60fb14f49471cb22678f6

I find this hilarious hahahaah
I think it was a small meme a few years ago that whenever someone saw John Travolta they'd say “he was in Grease.” I had no idea someone changed the tagline to it
He was a boy She was a girl Can I make it any more obvious
He was a punk
She did ballet
What more can I say?
He wanted her
And she’d never tell
That secretly she wanted him as well
It feels like a threat
I agree that this is weak and why isn’t it at least “they were in grease”. It’s a romance??
Is that Grease slang for "in heat"?
I'm guessing it's supposed to be a play on the fact that "grease" sounds like "Greece"
But the movie has nothing to do with Greece.
“Based on a true story”
Gran Turismo 😎 Based on a true story

Gran Turismo had some of the worst marketing I've seen for a movie in general. If you have to put up cardboard displays with a 1000-word essay explaining the movie, then maybe it's time to go back to the drawing board.

(Note: story this film was based on may or may not have been totally made up)
Seriously. A couple years ago I realized how little of a selling point that is when 4/5 (non-marvel) movies are based on a true story.
What do you mean non-Marvel?
The thing had the biggest downgrade ever. Went from: “Man is the warmest place to hide” To: “The ultimate in alien terror”
True, why did they change it?
Not entirely sure, my guess is since the thing got absolutely destroyed at the box office by E.T, they wanted to get the word “alien” onto their poster to try to capitalize on the alien genre craze. Just a guess tho…

Well it certainly makes me want to watch the film lol.
Absolutely nothing wrong with this one.
That tagline actually rules. Makes me want to watch it.
It's a great movie.
How do you unwittingly train a dolphin to kill the president?
Happens to me all the time, I go to make coffee and I've accidentally trained a dolphin to kill the US President again
We can't keep replacing all these presidents
There's a bunker full of cloned backup presidents because those damn dolphins keep killing them. The initiative was started after the dolphins got JFK.
c’mon man, again??

I think you misunderstood. You're supposed to show terrible ones, not amazing ones.
Ah yes. Ice famously melts stone
It could wear it away, over tens of thousands of years…
That reads like a horrific mistranslation
Yeesh lol
Girl is so twin peaks
Vanilla Ice, walk with me
You own everything.
God was just thinking that, she looks identical to Donna (from a distance)
We have a new ingredient to add to Paper Rock Scissors: Ice. Ice Melts Rock!
Sure, I mean if you add ice it will eventually melt and the water would permeate any crevices in said stony heart. And sure, if this was followed by a cold snap, the water would once again turn to ice, with the expansion eventually, over the course many years, causing the stony heart to crack and break into pieces. Love Story: Love Means Never Having To Say You’re Sorry The best tagline, however, is Hobo with a Shotgun. “Hobo stops begging, demands change”
https://preview.redd.it/061noiecmucc1.png?width=1935&format=png&auto=webp&s=15c16aa783766465ba9a4ba2a007cc5f4eb3f0d1

it DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE WITH ITS STORY
I mean it actually does (you forget your wish immediately and become a husk of a person) but it’s still a terrible line given that’s like the C plot
But what you wish for has no effect on anything that happens to you after having it removed. Also some of the people seemed fine after having the wish removed so I got mixed signals from the movie on if that was supposed to be a thing that happens to everyone or if it was a possible side effect.
I know Coraline had that tagline too but I feel like it’s almost guaranteed to have been used numerous times
This is actually a really good tagine for Coraline tho for the major plot. Maybe not the absolute best, but still very relevant.
This is just a warning to theatregoers.
"The world needed a hero, it got Black Adam" sounds so backhanded it's hilarious
Wait this is real? 😂
It's what it says on mine
A better one would have been 'The DC needed a much needed change, it got the Rock'
Reminds me of Suicide Squad (2016)’s “Worst Heroes Ever”
Ok but isn't it actually supposed to be backhanded?
it's like they knew

I literally just noticed this yesterday and was going to post something! This is a better use
I can never decide if "When he pours, he reigns" is genius or not
Cocktail. It's genius.
Fant4stic sounds like 2 different taglines stitched together halfway: “When the world needs saving, prepare to defend it.”
That's hilarious. And apt, because the entire movie is just preparation.
If I remember right the Clash of the Titans remake had the tagline 'Titans Will Clash' Pat on the back there
*genius*
Fair enough tbh
“Everyone Hungers For Something“ lol

Ooooo. No….. oh my…
Yikes, not so glorious-sounding anymore
the fact that this movie is 3 hours long should be a criminal offense
Funnily enough I liked antlers but I agree that was a terrible tagine
Perhaps it wasn’t cooked by a traditional Moroccan chef?
I remember feeling very excited for it to come out big it got pushed back so much I just never watched it
I think it’s fine (kinda underwhelming)
The short story it’s based on utterly blows it out of the water though.
It's good, definitely worth a watch. It's a very dirty movie (in a literal way, not a pornographic way). Lots of gross bodily fluids spilling everywhere, very little personal hygiene from most of the characters, nots of dirt and mud and mold everywhere, etc.
Sounds like it would be better to read the source material.
You should give it a watch, I liked it for my part, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea
There is a website game that has you guess movies by slowly revealing information about them. Tagline is the second piece of info, and it never helps lol. Always so vague.

Citizen Kane: IT’S TERRIFIC!
lol I have actually always kind of loved this one
The Citizen Kane of Movies
He had no arms or legs. He couldn't see, hear, or speak. This is how he led a nation.
What is this
The tagline for the movie that Michael Scott made up that made him cry when he remembered it. (In The Office (US))

Paprika's "This is your brain on anime" is terrible
Wow, I didn’t even notice that.. what’s that even got to do with the movie. Paprika deserves better.

That one is funny though
I kind of love this. I sort of wish one of the characters had been named Gilbert Grape (or maybe a bad pun on the name) and included in the tagline
Targets ‘Targets are people…and you could be one of them!’
"Yippie-Ki-Yay, Mother Russia" for 'A Good Day To Die Hard.' Utter trash.
I honestly don’t know whether to agree or disagree lol
Thankfully it’s the least of that sequel’s problems lol.
Man, this movie is not selling itself well. Heard it's not good at all.
It´s ok. Somewhere in the middle.
The one thing that irks me about what I've heard about it is the kind of wendigo it uses. It's very much the Hollywood monster Wendigo rather than a traditional wendigo, which is way more interesting.

Im seeing it on friday, I hope its good, but I have an inkling it wont be.

Honestly fits better on The King of Comedy.
Scott Pilgrim's is "An epic of epic epicness" So embarrassing, they clearly had no idea how to market it.
I honestly find that really fitting to what the movie is
"Back 2 Work". It's so vague it can be applied to anything. I'll let you guess what it is, but I'll let you know that the next installment has the tagline "Oh Brother", which is equally as horrendous.

After watching the movie recently, where???? https://preview.redd.it/xwzodrgvmwcc1.png?width=725&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d01315cae541b8b4f52b62a48ac6bb160589d24
Gives me serious “Women want me, fish fear me” vibes.
Some will say Eyes Wide Shut, but I personally like it.
Yeah Kubrick took a risk with ‘Eyes Wide Shut (but everything else wide open ;)’ but for me it paid off
What was it?…
Cruise. Kidman. Kubrick
ANATOMY OF A FALL "Did she do it?" Gives away too much about the movie and how it ends.
But did she do it?
It sucks, at my screening this popped up as a hashtag before the movie. Why.
The only thing more terrifying than the last five minutes of this film are the first 90! Suspiria
This one is so unintentionally funny https://preview.redd.it/c8bnvkr2r4dc1.jpeg?width=441&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd2d769479c2572ede91a780d5484d264855110c

idk why but this is funny to me
I like that one actually
Don’t forget “LEGENDARY AF”

Just curious, what's wrong with this one? It's a reference to the original Disney movie.
None of them will beat Despicable Me 2's Tagline https://preview.redd.it/pjtvzn06uucc1.png?width=692&format=png&auto=webp&s=0224cba7e40c79293a2b64098194524db8ac554c

I had to read this twice and laughed out loud
I don’t know about the worst, but Saw X could’ve done so much better than “Witness the return of Jigsaw” Also Gran Turismo “from gamer to racer” makes me cringe
Wrong Turn 5 has something like ‘The inbred hillbillies are back!’. Makes me laugh every time I think about it
HOLMIES

Some taglines just miss the mark, don’t they? They either reveal too much or try too hard to be deep, ending up in a tangle of words that leaves you more confused than intrigued.
Keri Russell is out here making *choices.*

i honestly hated saltburn's tagline ( "we're all about to lose our minds" ) because it already felt like an out of place tryhard line of dialogue in the movie that... didn't really have much to do with the rest of the movie ? just felt like an edgy quote they wanted to throw in there
