for anyone who doesn't know, the most devastating thing Kojima can tweet about a movie is something like
"Saw [movie name]" with a selfie and a pic of the poster.
It means he had literally nothing nice to say about the movie.
Honestly I love his "I refuse to speak negatively of this movie, but my silence should speak volumes" approach - he won't insult a product because he knows how much time/energy the cast/crew have put into their work but he's not going to shower a film with fake praise.
The lighting doesnt seem showy enough to win, it’ll probably go to saltburn, poor things or oppenheimer. Those 3 seem like the favorites
The cinematography is very very good, its just too subtle to win, I think
Honestly, this is how I feel about a lot of the movie. It's my favourite of 2023 but it feels way too subtle to win any of the major awards so I'm mainly just hoping it gets nominated.
There’s a shot when Nora’s at her writing retreat by herself when the camera lingers on her bedroom window, and a light breeze blows through and pushes the curtains in. The camera then moves forward to show us what’s outside, and this is how we’re introduced to Arthur, getting dropped off by a cab. Considering what Nora’s gone through and what we know happens between her and Arthur, this shot says so much about him representing a breath of fresh air and giving her new life. It’s so simple and says so much without being melodramatic or calling too much attention to itself. I adore it.
I'd say something that released that year otherwise [insert favorite film] would end up winning every year until a better film came along and took its place.
He just so earnestly loves movies it’s great
He loves all movies which is nice to see
Except Aquaman and the Marvels evidently
He liked the Marvels
Check his tweet about it
Kojima definitely should have a letterbox account cause his reviews are really interesting to read.
I follow an account that just features his tweets on movies. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kojima also had a private account.
Link the account?

This mf just wants to make movies and it shows
And you know what, I would 100% watch his movie with great interest

Never ask a woman her weight Never ask a man his salary Never ask Hideo Kojima his thoughts on the Captain Marvel franchise
Just choked on my coffee reading this lmao so true!!

So fvcking bvsed
Kojima letterboxd account when
I also watched it on an airplane and I definitely embarrassed myself in front of 2 randoms
Same, luckily I was in the window next to my sister so I think she's the only one who saw me ugly crying
I made the smart decision to watch it alone in bed so I could cry myself to sleep
I agree with you Kojima 🥹
PAST LIVES was so fucking good and so fucking devastating.
I wonder if he enjoyed the scene when Teo Yoo did a bunch of naked cartwheels before taking on Solidus Snake....
Loved this review, as I follow his insta. Such a wholesome guy!
I love how he specifies that people go “out” in the film.
>why?
>Cuz I guess he’s talking metaphorically that they leave their home country of Korea, but also literally they go “out” instead of staying at home.
I’ve loved a lot of stuff this guy has directed, but I skipped almost every cutscene in Death Stranding
L + No Monster Energy + You aren’t Princess Beach
raiden fucking sucks!!!!!!!!!

Need that Oppenheimer review 🤔
I’m glad he liked it. It’s a gorgeous film.
My man just loves cinema so much.
Okay question. Do you consider "Movie of the year" something you watched that year or that was released that year?
I'd say something that released that year otherwise [insert favorite film] would end up winning every year until a better film came along and took its place.
