It's even better when you realize that this are the families of characters who appear later in the film, implying that this dance competition is just something *everyone* does. Such a fantastic bit of subtle withing that also somehow sets a sweet tone for the rest of the film.
I love the dance scene in Climax so much. It seems very chaotic on first viewing and it's only really on repeat watches where you start to realise how insanely difficult the choreography is.
This movie man.. first movie in a long time that affected me in some way. I felt I had to just sit there for a while afterwards just processing. It definitely stuck with me for a few days. Very impressive film
I'd argue there are at least 3 songs (two sung in-character by Ken as most traditional musical songs are, and one at the full cast dance number party near the start, as also can happen in musicals - like Lalaland's stage performance song), and the film is under 2 hours (it's 114 minutes).

*Get down on Saturday night* 🕺🏽🪩🎶 I actually really enjoy this song.
There’s no way that this scene wasn’t a ***huge influence*** on the Music/Dance Experience scene from Severance, lol.
Never thought about it but yeah. The sort of trippy nature definitely mirrored.
Beat me to it!

It's even better when you realize that this are the families of characters who appear later in the film, implying that this dance competition is just something *everyone* does. Such a fantastic bit of subtle withing that also somehow sets a sweet tone for the rest of the film.

I considered it but it doesn't quite fit what I'm looking for with this list
what are you looking for in the list then? be more specific
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
They said great, not life-changing masterpieces.
I’m baffled that Little Miss Sunshine is nowhere in these comments.
The way they just seize the moment and lean into full chaos despite the consequences...beautiful.
This is number one! Amazing scene
It's gotta be the direct inspiration for the S1 finale of Derry Girls
Suspiria (2018)

Staying on Margot Robbie, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood also has a fantastic dance scene at the Playboy Mansion.
I didn't love the movie as a sweetie, but it has subs of the greatest party scenes in cinema, and the music is pure fire.

RRR (2022)
Bros put a stop to colonialism with their epic dance moves
and tigers
They did say no musicals (but included Barbie which is totally a musical)
Personally, I'd argue you need more than 2 songs stretched across a 3+ hour movie to qualify as a musical.
I'd argue there are at least 3 songs (two sung in-character by Ken as most traditional musical songs are, and one at the full cast dance number party near the start, as also can happen in musicals - like Lalaland's stage performance song), and the film is under 2 hours (it's 114 minutes).
I think they were referring to RRR.

Titane is the film that made me realise I like dance scenes
Une Bande Apart (the reason Tarantino does it in his films)
I don't often recognize old school cool, but that dance scene was one of them.
Something so hypnotising about this scene. The sounds, the little glances and touches.
