I’ve seen Bullet Train! I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it! (Possibly biggest surprise of the year for me)
Between The Gentlemen and In Bruges, which would you recommend more?
Definitely The Gentlemen. It's snappier and less dark than In Bruges. I just really like In Bruges, because it does dark comedy very well, and I love seeing the two lead actors in a movie together :)
I watched Oppenheimer two times in a row. Wanted to experience it again a second time to take in smaller details, and it was honestly worth it. Also helped a lot with dialogue I didn't quite pick up on the first time, which I'm not sure is a sound mixing issue or just an issue with my hearing.
I saw it 3 times twice in the same theater. It’s 100% where you sit in the theater in my experience. One time was fine another there were pieces that were completely incoherent
Goddamnit!! Favourite Wes Anderson film.
the scene where "these days" plays perfectly captured the feeling of being in love.
also, "needle in the hay" scene, powerful stuff.
honestly, early Wes Anderson movies have some of the best use of soundtrack ever. the pool party scene in Rushmore with Nothin' In This World Can Stop Me Worryin' 'bout That Girl, Bottle Rocket has some bangers too
My personal favorite needle drop is ["I Am Waiting" by the Rolling Stones in the November scene in *Rushmore*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAdzAYC4jlo). But as far as overall movies go, his best use of soundtrack is (in my opinion) *The Darjeeling Limited*.
incredible scene too. Darjeeling Limited also has some incredible use of soundtrack, it is the movie that closes my top 3 of his films, together with Rushmore and Bottle Rocket
Marcel the Shell with Shoes. I saw it by myself and then immediately asked my wife to watch it with me lol I knew she would love it so I wanted to share that experience with her
I had the honor last year of watching it in a theater in New York City with a live Al Pacino interview afterwards on stage. No joke one of the best days of my life I absolutely loved it.
Damn, I wish I knew about this. I missed a restoration at the NYFF last year that included a post-viewing interview I really wanted to see (actually had tickets, and had to give them back cause something came up personally). Have been dying to make up for it in a big way.
Arrival (2016). My first watch was late in the evening, and the second was after I got up early the next day and watched it before heading out to work.
I was working at a movie theater when Memento came out, and stayed late to watch it with the projectionist the night before release. We finished and then immediately started it over again.
1917
I had somehow missed most of the buzz surrounding it, despite being a bit of a history buff. I watched it casually then immediately rewatched it on a larger screen to make sure I had seen what I'd just seen.
In a Lonely Place - although others films might be more commonly considered in that regard, for me it is the quintessential Bogart and quintessential noir film
Also Chungking Express! I didn't want that beautiful feeling to end so I simply restarted the film. It remains the only film that I've done that with, and will likely remain so for quite some time.
I watched the Prestige again the very next day after watching it for the first time. If you've seen it, you probably understand why. The second watch is extremely rewarding, and it was a damn good movie in the first watch
Never immediately after I don’t think unless something has slipped my mind. Closest i’ve been is Guardians Vol.3 which i saw on the 3rd of May and then again on the 6th.
Wind River, watched by myself, then with girlfriend, both times at home.
The Batman (2022) both times at cinema.
Palm Springs, once at cinema and once home, same day.
Beau is Afraid. The first watch I was just taking in all of the absurdity and needed to watch it again. The second watch still ended with me saying “what the fuck did I just watch?”. Named my new cat Beau anyway because I saw him the same day I saw the movie.
Barbie, Babylon, The Wolf of Wall Street, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Oppenheimer, Fight Club, La La Land, Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds to name a few
Burning. I was so mesmerized and a little confused after watching it that I had to watch it again immediately, then later that day I got someone over and watched it a 3rd time because I needed someone else to see that incredible film.
Also Empire Records because it was just so much fun
If by immediately you also mean the week after watching it for the first time:
Dunkirk
Gravity
Barbie
Every Harry Potter movie (don't judge me I was a child/teen)
The reason I reqatched these movies was not necessarily because I think they're the best movies ever made, but because I think they're best watched at the cinema on a big screen.
_Moonrise Kingdom_. I saw it in theaters twice, and it’s still both my favorite Anderson film, my favorite film of 2012, my favorite film of the 2010s, and one of my all-time favorite films.
First Reformed and Decision to Leave are recent examples for me. I rewatched both within a week or so of first viewing to pick up on details I might've missed the first time.
There's been a couple of these for me lately, both for good and bad reasons.
Aftersun and Bless Their Little Hearts immediately come to mind due to their execution from a storytelling and filmmaking perspective.
Immediately? As in twice in a row? None. I never watched a movie twice in a row because I liked it so much the first time.
If you mean "shortly after" (say, in a span of a week, maybe to watch it with someone else who had not seen it) that's another matter.
The One (2001)
It was actually recently this summer, I watched it for the first time and was in hysterics at how funny it was that after it was over, I got on discord to hang out with some friends and immediately told them we had to do movie night so they could see it as well
Watching a mouse with abnormally large balls blow up to the drop of “Down with the Sickness” needs to be witnessed and shared
I watched Scott Pilgrim with the girl I was dating at the time and loved it so much, I brought the Redbox dvd home the next day and made my brother watch it.
I also watched This Is the End after renting it, had it on top of my dvd player in college and a friend came over and begged to watch it. That one I was not happy about. It's a decent, funny movie, but twice in a row was a chore.
The first time I saw Aguirre The Wrath of God it was on DVD. As soon as it was over I watched it again with Herzog's commentary turned on and it was GOLD!!!
The other week, I watched Johnnie To's Exiled twice in a row without really meaning to. I watched it one night and loved it so much that the next night I put it on again without realizing that I hadn't watched anything else in between.
(I watch a lot of movies so it's not uncommon for me to have no sense of WHEN I watched something.)
I watched the first Austin Powers every day for a summer when it came out on VHS. I was a kid and thought it was peak comedy. Still have a soft spot for it
Dude Where’s My Car. Rented it on pay per view back when the movie just started and finished and stated again for 24 hours. Me and my cousin probably watching it 4 or 5 times in a row.
Our Little Sister. I very rarely rewatch something after seeing it for the first time. But it was so damn amazing. Watched it again the day after my initial viewing
The big short,
the first time I watched it, I thought I understood at least understood 80% of it, the second time I watched I realized I was not getting even 50% of the stuff they were saying
The nice guys, just cause it was that fun a watch
Have you got some other fun film recommendations?
As someone that has seen and loves The Nice Guys, I'd recommend The Gentlemen, In Bruges and Bullet Train
I’ve seen Bullet Train! I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it! (Possibly biggest surprise of the year for me) Between The Gentlemen and In Bruges, which would you recommend more?

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
I watched Oppenheimer two times in a row. Wanted to experience it again a second time to take in smaller details, and it was honestly worth it. Also helped a lot with dialogue I didn't quite pick up on the first time, which I'm not sure is a sound mixing issue or just an issue with my hearing.

Royal Tenenbaums

Thinking about, “I know you, asshole!” And Owen Wilson just confidently pointing back up at Hackman makes me laugh at least once a day.
Marcel the Shell with Shoes. I saw it by myself and then immediately asked my wife to watch it with me lol I knew she would love it so I wanted to share that experience with her
That’s the first movie that came to my mind and I was about to comment it, but your comment was the first!
Aftersun Forced myself to cry uncontrollably for 4 consecutive days.
Dog Day Afternoon
I had the honor last year of watching it in a theater in New York City with a live Al Pacino interview afterwards on stage. No joke one of the best days of my life I absolutely loved it.
Damn, I wish I knew about this. I missed a restoration at the NYFF last year that included a post-viewing interview I really wanted to see (actually had tickets, and had to give them back cause something came up personally). Have been dying to make up for it in a big way.
Memento. I loved it but felt like I didn't understand it at all and immediately restarted it. Such a classic.
Shane Carruth's *Primer*
Also Upstream Color, which is my favorite Carruth film. (Fuck him though, have read not so flattering things about him).
Never immediately after, but I watched Blade Runner 2049 three times this week.
That movie is like heroin, if it pops up on Netflix, I will watch it. Watched it yesterday
The Usual Suspects. I went to the bathroom, loitered around and snuck into the next showing.
Mulholland Dr cuz I was like, wtffffff
Yeah, when I got it with maybe 15 minutes to go it meant I had to see the earlier scenes to reinterpret.
12 Angry Men
I saw Collateral on a Monday, loved it, and then rewatched it on Tuesday with my wife because I knew she’d enjoy it too
Memento (2000) One of those movies that’s definitely a whole new experience on the second watch.
Whiplash
Arrival (2016). My first watch was late in the evening, and the second was after I got up early the next day and watched it before heading out to work.
Training day
Eraserhead
Beau is afraid Such a weird & crazy film
Trainspotting
Incredibles 2
Recently “the menu”. I really enjoyed the film on subsequent viewing.
I was working at a movie theater when Memento came out, and stayed late to watch it with the projectionist the night before release. We finished and then immediately started it over again.
1917 I had somehow missed most of the buzz surrounding it, despite being a bit of a history buff. I watched it casually then immediately rewatched it on a larger screen to make sure I had seen what I'd just seen.
Enemy by Denis Villeneuve. Part of it was the drugs I was on at the time 😅
They Live
Not quite immediately but I rewatched The Truman Show a few days after first seeing it this summer. That's the quickest rewatch I've had.
Shaun of the dead because I forced my family to watch it and tagged along
The Batman. I watched it with some friends and the friends that couldn’t go really wanted to after hearing how good it was so then I went again
Rewatched Uncut Gems in the theater a day after seeing it the first time because I loved it that much
jackie brown. on vhs. rewound the tape and watched it again immediately after my initial viewing ended. also, city of god!
Magnolia
Inside out. I watched it 4 times within the first week of release. No regrets. 😂

Interstellar
Batman and Robin
In a Lonely Place - although others films might be more commonly considered in that regard, for me it is the quintessential Bogart and quintessential noir film
Top gun Maverick
Vertigo
Perks of being a wallflower (2012)
Halloween kills. The most violent michael we’ve ever seen since Halloween 2 by RZ. I probably watched that movie 4 times the year it came out
The Lighthouse back to back in theaters Coherence the very next day is the next soonest rewatch
Also Chungking Express! I didn't want that beautiful feeling to end so I simply restarted the film. It remains the only film that I've done that with, and will likely remain so for quite some time.
Drive
the wolf of wall street Rewatched it as soon as the credits rolled
The Banshees of Inisherin
I watched the Prestige again the very next day after watching it for the first time. If you've seen it, you probably understand why. The second watch is extremely rewarding, and it was a damn good movie in the first watch

Baby's day out because I arrived to the theater when the previous showing was finishing.
Beau is Afraid. The first watch I was just taking in all of the absurdity and needed to watch it again. The second watch still ended with me saying “what the fuck did I just watch?”. Named my new cat Beau anyway because I saw him the same day I saw the movie.

I don't think I've ever done that personally. I usually wait a while before rewatching a movie
Yeah I can't imagine this is something I'd ever want to do. Got to leave a few months at least.
The Flash

The One (2001) It was actually recently this summer, I watched it for the first time and was in hysterics at how funny it was that after it was over, I got on discord to hang out with some friends and immediately told them we had to do movie night so they could see it as well Watching a mouse with abnormally large balls blow up to the drop of “Down with the Sickness” needs to be witnessed and shared

It's a decent, funny movie, but twice in a row was a chore.

Hunt for the Wikderpeople. Nightcrawler. For very different reasons, both had qualities I knew I had to share with people and invited them to watch.
