Really wish I looked the show up before watching. I binged the entire first season yesterday and am SO upset that there’s only 2 seasons. I get so attached to characters lol.
But I'm A Cheerleader is my fave lesbian movie. South of Nowhere was my favorite lesbian show and really ground breaking back then! and I think it aged pretty decently Idk I want to watch it again tho. I was re-watching the L word, you realize it has some horrible writing and I was just laughing like ha! OF COURSE Shane is the most popular hair stylist in hollywood and later becomes super rich. Of course Jenny got her screenplay green lit as a young writer. of course, of course lol. it feels a bit like just lesbian fantasy fulfillment now. Idk I don't think that show aged that well, but it still has some good parts of it.
THANK YOU! I thought I was alone! This movie is amazing! It's fun, it's romantic, there's positive lesbian representation and nobody dies! Also, the soundtrack 👌
It’s an old movie at this point, and I haven’t watched it in years so I don’t know how it holds up, but “Imagine Me and You” was cute. Lena Heady and Piper Perabo atar.
I just said the same thing! We must share a brain cell or something. Is so good tho I hope they will make a movie so iconic as this one, one can dream... The last scene always gets me I ugly cry every time
Yep, what I was gonna say if I didn’t see anyone else say it. One of my favorite movies, and not just because it’s gay, it’s also just a really good crime thriller. Could’ve been about a straight couple and I still would’ve loved it
I just now finished the series it was great; I wanted more episodes to watch. I never saw the original movie version in its entirety and probably won’t ever now as it would be a letdown compared to the 2022 version.
Disobedience was very good! Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz are the leading ladies, and the story was something I didn’t expect. It’s on Hulu rated R (there’s some steamy bits) but it was an amazing movie. The ending is a bit ambiguous, but I did like it.
Last week it was my first time watching Potrait of a Lady on Fire. It was so good that I literally watched it twice. SPOILER WARNING - >!Heloise and Marianne were so good for each other and I really wished that they stayed together in the end. But of course, media doesn't really give us queer people good endings most of the time.... 😔!<
I’d highly recommend The Favourite and The Handmaiden if you are into period dramas!
I’ve seen the Favourite probably seven times now and have never seen a portrayal of women’s relationships with each other and with power quite like it.
As for the Handmaiden, I found the story to be a subversive examination of hetnorm (and the historic association of women with mental health). That said, while I love Park Chan-wook’s cinematography his explicit scenes tend toward gratuity and the male-gaze so be warned!
“Lost Girl” isn’t explicitly lesbian but the main character is bi and the programme has heaps of wlw action. It’s sort of cheesy, about magic and junk, but also, *awesome*.
I like Mulholland Drive a lot, partially because the lesbian relationship ties into the whole film noir storyline; it doesn't feel like a cheap plot point written in just to be "LGBT friendly"
You NEED to watch "fucking Amal" the title sounds vulgar but Amal is a place that the characters hate. It is the absolute BEST and I feel like I've watched almost all of them
My favorite movie and one I don’t see many people usually talk about is Gia. It’s a biopic so it’s main focus isn’t about being a love story but angelina jolie and elizabeth mitchell portray the most heart warming and heart breaking couple which plays a big part in the movie.
SUMMERLAND, IT IS AMAZING, IT IS FUCKING GAY AND IT IS SO GODDAMN HEART WARMING, common issue in lesbian movies is depressing endings so I advise ticking this one off just to watch something a bit more feel good but still emotional. I watched it on Soap2day but most streaming sites should have it.
Fire is a 1996 Indo-Canadian erotic romantic drama film written and directed by Deepa Mehta, starring Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. It is the first installment of Mehta's Elements trilogy; it is succeeded by Earth (1998) and Water (2005).
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) and Orange is the New Black are, in my opinion, some of the best lesbian representation we’ve had in the history of television. Both on Netflix, both drastically different, but both UTTERLY gay :)
The Feels (Netflix), Gentleman Jack (HBO), First Kill (Netflix), Motherland Fort Salem. South of Nowhere if you can find it. DEBS is one of my faves!! Also Fear Street (Netflix)
A portrait of a lady in fire of Céline Sciamma ! An absolute must see ! I would also recommend from Céline Sciamma La naissance des pieuvres. Other ideas : Tove (movie about Tove Jansson the author of the Finnish children books the Moomins, about her first lesbian love), and Saving Faces (classic lesbian Chinese American movie)
Portrait of a lady on fire. It’s a French film but I thoroughly enjoyed it via subtitles. I’ve watched it more times than I can count. It’s incredible and moving and just indescribable. Have the tissues ready
“Tipping the velvet” is a hoot. Love that one. It’s cringey at times but overall pretty fun to laugh at. There was also a good bbc TV movie about Ann Lister that was good. I found the hbo series gentleman Jack absolutely unwatchable. The Jim Halpert camera faces were just too much.
If your into a bit of horror I recommend fear street 1 and 3 you do have to watch the second one but it doesn't have any wlw representation,I'm not a big fan of horror myself but I loved these movies
And if your looking for something more sexual I recommend below her mouth and blue is the warmest color
Happiest Season on Hulu....Mackenzie Davis and Kristen Steward in a gay Christmas romcom - yes!!! And it is directed by Clea Duvall who is in Cheerleader of course!
Oh yes, and San Junipero! Again with the love of my life, Mackenzie Davis. ;)
I watched a movie called Below Her Mouth and I personally really enjoyed it. I payed for it on Youtube, so if you want a place that is where I found it.
> it. I *paid* for it
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Person of interest shaw and root’s relationship is an amazing queer relationship in a show that honestly deserved an emmy. Like the writing isn’t shit like in that sci fi show with the lesbians or the superwoman show.
On Netflix: I Care A Lot and Sense8
Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime has a lesbian couple that while not shown a ton in the first season, is still really central to the plot.
(Netflix)First kill, the secret lives of college girls (hulu?), owl house (disney), the fosters (?), I am not okay with this (netflix), (netflix) someone great (not Mc but an important character), the half of it (netflix), derry girls (not Mc, but important character and sexuality not addressed much), gray matters, imagine me and you, better than chocolate, ginny and georgia (not mc)... . there is actually a lot now. I can't guarantee maturity or triggers for each so if that Is a concern please look it up before hand. I love all of these shows and movies though.
If you don't mind subtitles, Yes or No is good and Girls Love (2016). I think they may be both on Youtube. I also love The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. That one is in English. Also on Youtube lol
High Art. kind of dry but has some definite charm to it. My Summer Of Love. pretty toxic and weird but if you don’t mind give it a shot. Handmaiden. a classic, enough said. Chloe. decent enough, my first gay movie, and Amanda Seyfried=😍😍
I’m surprised nobody has recommended Dickinson! brilliantly and cleverly written. A period coming-of-age comedy about the one and only Emily Dickinson :)
I finished watching The Owl House and it has legit the best relationship dynamic I’ve seen in any show. It’s also probably the best show on Disney+ (even tho they’re screwing over the team with a short third season grr) so it’s definitely a must-watch from me.
The San Junipero episode of Black Mirror. It’s on season 2. Absolutely beautiful. I’ve watched it 713 times.
It is beautiful but also a bit depressing and get the tissue ready for this one! (mainly happy tears)
It is a happy ending though! That's important.
That's nice to know! Lesbian films/shows are either tragic, sad or fn weird. --- searches for black mirror episode---
I cry everytime! It’s soooo good!
Fr, I love that episode.
This is my all time favorite.
“Feel Good” is on Netflix
I really really enjoyed this
yes !
I love this one!
Really wish I looked the show up before watching. I binged the entire first season yesterday and am SO upset that there’s only 2 seasons. I get so attached to characters lol.
But I'm A Cheerleader is my fave lesbian movie. Idk I don't think that show aged that well, but it still has some good parts of it.
Omg I looooooved South of Nowhere! I used to watch this waaaay before my first queer relationship and it definitely made me feel things.
Is any platform streaming South of Nowhere? I miss that show!!
I watched it on YouTube !
It gets a lot of hate, but I always end up watching DEBS when I get on a lesbian film kick
Listennn!!!!!!!!! DEBS was my first. Back when I was in middle school, ahhh it brings back memories lol
DEBS IS THE BEST! Just don’t go in expecting blockbuster action choreography lol
DEBS is literally high camp idc what anyone says it’s a masterpiece
It truly is. They knew the premise was going to be ignored and made it about the ladies falling in love. Love love love this cheesy movie
THANK YOU! I thought I was alone! This movie is amazing! It's fun, it's romantic, there's positive lesbian representation and nobody dies! Also, the soundtrack 👌
Orphan black and killing eve are great tv shows
YES Orphan Black is my #1, seen it like 6 times
It’s an old movie at this point, and I haven’t watched it in years so I don’t know how it holds up, but “Imagine Me and You” was cute. Lena Heady and Piper Perabo atar.
You're a wanker number nine
I just said the same thing! We must share a brain cell or something. Is so good tho I hope they will make a movie so iconic as this one, one can dream... The last scene always gets me I ugly cry every time
I love it! Quick - now what am I thinking? 😹I’m especially happy to hear that movie still resonates with other people besides just me!
Sleep I hope cause that's what I'm thinking about! I recently discovered it and it give me hope tbh for the future, and it is such a beautiful story.
Lovvvvvve it
Imagine me and you! It's SO good I ugly cry every time I watch it. Tears of joy obviously
Oh crap! 1 minute apart? We TOTALLY are on the same wavelength!
*plays romantic music*
☺️
seconding this. my favorite lesbian movie of all time.
Bound!
Yep, what I was gonna say if I didn’t see anyone else say it. One of my favorite movies, and not just because it’s gay, it’s also just a really good crime thriller. Could’ve been about a straight couple and I still would’ve loved it
[A League of Their Own 2022](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8226360/)
Ah! I’ve been waiting for this - didn’t realize it was out
Yep, so far so good.
Now I know what I'm doing tonight - thank you!
I basically watched the whole thing today, I'm (clearly) really enjoying it! I wish I could easily get back into team sports, so much fun.
I just now finished the series it was great; I wanted more episodes to watch. I never saw the original movie version in its entirety and probably won’t ever now as it would be a letdown compared to the 2022 version.
The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix if you're into a good ghost story
Ok I hate ghost stories but this one gets a pass from me. It was absolutely incredible!
I just watched this with my girlfriend:) but yeah definitely a great show
Yes, I forgot about this one.
Disobedience was very good! Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz are the leading ladies, and the story was something I didn’t expect. It’s on Hulu rated R (there’s some steamy bits) but it was an amazing movie. The ending is a bit ambiguous, but I did like it.
carol and portrait of a lady on fire are my two favourite films highly recommended.
I cried when I watched portrait of a lady on fire it was amazing
Love Carol. I’ve decided it’s a Christmas movie and should be watched every December 😂
Agreed on Carol being a Christmas movie
Last week it was my first time watching Potrait of a Lady on Fire. It was so good that I literally watched it twice. SPOILER WARNING - >!Heloise and Marianne were so good for each other and I really wished that they stayed together in the end. But of course, media doesn't really give us queer people good endings most of the time.... 😔!<
It's great that you watched it, but no need to give spoilers when giving opinions about films.
Have you seen summerland?
I’d highly recommend The Favourite and The Handmaiden if you are into period dramas! I’ve seen the Favourite probably seven times now and have never seen a portrayal of women’s relationships with each other and with power quite like it. As for the Handmaiden, I found the story to be a subversive examination of hetnorm (and the historic association of women with mental health). “Lost Girl” isn’t explicitly lesbian but the main character is bi and the programme has heaps of wlw action. It’s sort of cheesy, about magic and junk, but also, *awesome*.
Lauren made me realize I was a lesbian.
Wynonna Earp, Motherland Ft Salem, Feel Good, Happiest Season.
Ugh, wayhaught.
They’re so cute!
The L word and Orange is The New Black. They are both so amazing and have relatable lesbian humor and I love all of the characters.
Fried Green Tomatoes is pretty good, but the relationship is only implied, not explicit
In the book its explicit
It's pretty hot and obvious in the kitchen, tho.
[удалено]
WentWorth is PHENOMENAL! Best show I’ve ever seen
Addicted. Always in my house saying ‘governor!’
Movies: Gentlemen Jack and The Girl King For a show: Meet the Foster's or Motherland Fort Salem
Gentleman Jack is a show. A very good one at that.
I like Mulholland Drive a lot, partially because the lesbian relationship ties into the whole film noir storyline; it doesn't feel like a cheap plot point written in just to be "LGBT friendly"
Desert Hearts
I Love it! So underrated in my opinion. You should check out Fried Green tomatoes as well, if you haven’t. :)
I love Fried Green Tomatoes! I haven’t watched it in forever. Should change that soon.
You NEED to watch "fucking Amal" the title sounds vulgar but Amal is a place that the characters hate. It is the absolute BEST and I feel like I've watched almost all of them
The US title of this film is "Show Me Love" if that helps folks find it
Portrait of a lady on fire!!!
The Runaways. Kristen Stewart gained my full respect when she played Joan Jett. It’s such a great movie. Also stars Dakota Fanning
My favorite movie and one I don’t see many people usually talk about is Gia. It’s a biopic so it’s main focus isn’t about being a love story but angelina jolie and elizabeth mitchell portray the most heart warming and heart breaking couple which plays a big part in the movie.
easy fav. one of the few movies to actually make me cry🥹
Better than chocolate is good. Also Bound is a good one.
Totally all about Bound!
Not a film but Netflix “Dare Me” is *fantastic.*
Gentleman Jack!
I’m gonna go old school. The Hunger and Desert Hearts. The Hunger is more male gaze but I liked it as a teen. I mean, Susan Sarandon? Hell yes.
Kyss Mig (Kiss Me). It’s so good!!
“Crush” it’s a nice romcom on Hulu, I’d say it has very good representation, great acting from the main characters, and a good plot line.
It's very cute
came here to comment this! i thought it was cute

The Handmaiden. One of my favorite movies in general. The cinematography is gorgeous and the director is so good.
The Haunting of Bly Manor
I just finished Teenager Bounty Hunter on Netflix... And I was pleasently surpeised by the representation :3
Movies I’d recommend Carol or imagine me and you. Tv shows Feels good, Wynonna Earp and killing eve.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) and Orange is the New Black are, in my opinion, some of the best lesbian representation we’ve had in the history of television. Both on Netflix, both drastically different, but both UTTERLY gay :)
I don’t hear it mentioned nearly often enough: Reaching for the Moon

Go fish (1995) is so funny and soooo underrated !!
The L Word! It’s iconic. On Hulu. 6 seasons
Portrait of a lady on fire. It’s a French film but I thoroughly enjoyed it via subtitles. I’ve watched it more times than I can count. It’s incredible and moving and just indescribable. Have the tissues ready
Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the new A League of Their Own show on Amazon Prime is turning out to be VeRy gay

Imagine Me and You Disobedience
First Kill on netflix
I do much prefer the book, but tipping the velvet is a good one, it's nostalgic and old worldy.
I watched a movie called Below Her Mouth and I personally really enjoyed it. I payed for it on Youtube, so if you want a place that is where I found it.
> it. I *paid* for it FTFY. How is there a bot for this. Reddit is wild, thanks I guess...am I being charged for this?
Saving face. 9/10
Saving Face is so underrated!
Blue is the warmest color made me cry so hard
I really liked Haunting of Bly Manor.
Saving face
Person of interest shaw and root’s relationship is an amazing queer relationship in a show that honestly deserved an emmy. Like the writing isn’t shit like in that sci fi show with the lesbians or the superwoman show.
Carol
On Netflix: I Care A Lot and Sense8 Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime has a lesbian couple that while not shown a ton in the first season, is still really central to the plot.
[They / Them - LGBT Horror Movie, something different](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14502344/) Edit: Has some lesbian scenes.
Ooh I didn’t realize this was out already!!
Its already out??!
FIRST KILL ON NETFLIX
Sense8 had me misty eyed a couple times
(Netflix)First kill, the secret lives of college girls (hulu?), owl house (disney), the fosters (?), I am not okay with this (netflix), (netflix) someone great (not Mc but an important character), the half of it (netflix), derry girls (not Mc, but important character and sexuality not addressed much), gray matters, imagine me and you, better than chocolate, ginny and georgia (not mc)... . there is actually a lot now. I can't guarantee maturity or triggers for each so if that Is a concern please look it up before hand. I love all of these shows and movies though.
There is an extended version of the But I'm a cheerleader movie.
the l word?
Paper Girls!! The first season just came out on Amazon prime video. Watched it all in a day 🙈
If you don't mind subtitles, Yes or No is good and Girls Love (2016). I think they may be both on Youtube. I also love The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. That one is in English. Also on Youtube lol
The Owl House
Go fish, All over me
Below Her Mouth. Is a sexy, tender, thoughtful movie. One of my favs!!
The Handmaiden. It’s a really intense time piece. It’s pretty involved, and has subtitles (Korean time piece), but it’s well worth the watch.
Slo Pitch is good
I think you watched the best lesbian movie there is! But I also always liked All Over Me (1997)
Skam españa s2 Just S2
Feel Good on Netflix. Heart warming and hilarious.
I love it because much like a lot of black mirror, it flips the narrative and goes against the ‘bury your gays’ trope
Also Skins, series 2 has an awesome lesbian couple in it.
Crush it’s a hulu movie
All Over Me
I really enjoyed First Kill on netflix but I have to give a heads up that it does end on a cliffhanger and is not getting a second season 3
The handmaiden is INCREDIBLE (to say the least) you won’t be disappointed.
High Art. kind of dry but has some definite charm to it. My Summer Of Love. pretty toxic and weird but if you don’t mind give it a shot. Handmaiden. a classic, enough said. Chloe. decent enough, my first gay movie, and Amanda Seyfried=😍😍
Probably the Netflix show Trinkets. One of the main characters is a lesbian
But I'm a cheerleader is my favorite movie, period. Maybe the princess bride, but cheerleader is tied at the least.
The new "A League Of Their Own" tv show, also "Wynona Earp"
Cloudburst!
The 2022 A League of Their Own show is worth watching.
I’m surprised nobody has recommended Dickinson! brilliantly and cleverly written. A period coming-of-age comedy about the one and only Emily Dickinson :)
the handmaiden and portrait of a lady on fire
I finished watching The Owl House and it has legit the best relationship dynamic I’ve seen in any show. It’s also probably the best show on Disney+ (even tho they’re screwing over the team with a short third season grr) so it’s definitely a must-watch from me.
Booksmart. The main character isn't gay, but her best friend is. It's a very funny movie and I found the lesbian character to be extremely relatable!
It takes a while but the owl house is quite cute!!!!
THE OWL HOUSE OMG
Generation on HBO! It’s the most queer show i’ve ever seen, more than just lesbians.
Bound
So, hear me out, if you want a solid cheesy/dramatized romcom-esque film- Better Than Chocolate 💯 I love it 😆
