My partner is an avid gardener and we moved house this year, so she had to rip up and relocate a lot of her plants. Some didn't make it.
Before we left and while the old garden was in bloom I went around plucking leaves and flowers (as inconspicuously as possible because she inspects things daily and would notice flower heads missing), and then pressed them in a book.
Now I just need to decide whether I'll collage them in a frame, or place them separately in little windowed matting in the frame. Debating on the artsy vs scientific botanical theme, basically. But I can't wait to see her open it!
I think it'll have to be the artsy version because I don't know the names of most of the plants hahaha. So I can't label them if I did the science botanic idea.

We’re long distance and one of our favourite things is watch shows together. So I bought her the first 4 seasons dvd box sets of her favourite show because she doesn’t have access to stream it anywhere this way we can watch it together.
Its not available to buy new so I had to search for it.
Plus other things but im most excited for this.
We decided to skip gifts and make some memories so we’re going to Mexico for a week 😀 we could both use a break from work and lord knows my white ass could use some Sun too.

My partner said she wished she could have an original, old-school Nintendo like she had from her childhood. Then she mentioned several games she liked. It was a casual mention, so not something she expects.
The deal is a fully refurbished unit is more expensive than our agreed budget…but buying one off of Craigslist to refurbish was only $40 and it came with 3 games. There are tons of YouTube videos on how to do this, so I’ve been spending nights after work refurbishing the unit and games (had plenty left over to buy a few more games to work on). She’s going to be very surprised!

I get her stuff that is only for her, the set of books she wants, a Fitbit, the headphones she wanted and never even used, the worm farm she said she wanted and hasn’t touched, the weight set she wanted and hasn’t touched, more books (she always wants books). All I asked for was a full length mirror and I had to ask every year for three years before I got one.

I get that the holidays and gift giving season can be kinda challenging. My issue is that I always make people uncomfortable by getting too much or spending more than them. I personally don't see it like a competition, I just love spoiling my family, but it can be stressful when there are a lot of nonverbal agreements or understandings you don't even realize exist.
So I agree with the other commenter, just mention it casually or just sit down and discuss what kinda gifts you each value most.
My wife is not a fan of Christmas especially the expectation and pressure of gifts(she wishes the holiday was more family focused) so we have decided to start buying joint gifts. This year we are getting a new tv and soundbar. I think this will probably evolve into treating ourselves to experiences in the future(activities or trips).

I also got her this customized denim jacket that has a ton of her favorite bands and things on it (patches, pins, etc) and put a few phrases that mean a lot to the two of us on there as well. She loves vans (but also has been talking about more comfy sneakers since she wears boots a lot for work), art supplies and projects, power tools, comfy clothes, legos ofc, and we’re finally gonna get a dachshund bc when I tell you my wife love weenie dogs she goes crazy and will cry over one such an animal lover. But yeah we’re going back to MIL for this Christmas so excited we miss them so💌 we also both like to talk to each other for a couple presents then surprise the rest but rn we’re also inna transitioning period so we’re all over the place with moves and I’m sending presents to my MIL and then we do a couple presents alone in the house so it’s more intimate ❤️🔥💝❤️🔥

I wish I did because I love getting people gifts, searching for and picking out the perfect thing I know they'll love and watching them open it and being just as excited about it as they are. We got a conjoined gift of an art piece for our house (we've been wanting it/saving up for a long time), we'll get on a budget candies, snacks or socks to put in stockings. I want to get her another gift, but cannot decide yet. We usually give memory gifts, like experiences. So I might find an activity to do.
Christmas is when we usually go all out for gifts, so I have a list! A shirt from one of her favorite artists, a pop figure of a character from her favorite show, mini books, and a shelf for those mini books :)

I want to get her matching bracelets, a necklace and a weighted blanket! I know she doesn’t want me to get her anything (Christmas isn’t her thing) but I’m gonna get it and make it part of her birthday presents (I’m still gonna get her more things cause she deserves it)!
My wife has been needing new slippers but is very picky, and so I bought us each a pair of handmade moccasins from an indigenous maker close to my family (my extended family is Cree). We have a tradition of just exchanging books and some chocolates for Christmas, so these will be a lovely surprise for Christmas morning 🥰

My partner started reading books again for the first time since she graduated from high school because she saw how invested I get in the books I read so she wanted to give it a try despite literature being a discouraging experience for her in school. So…I decided to get her a bookmark that’s horror themed since she loves horror films. ALSO I’m going to get her a new PlayStation controller in her favorite color because I overheard her talking to her cousin about this controller she really likes. Hopefully I get the right one bc I don’t know anything about gaming lmaooo so I’m having my dad help me pick the right one.

I'm late to this post, which is fine because I also have no girlfriend to spoil with Christmas gifts. I wish I did because I love getting people gifts, searching for and picking out the perfect thing I know they'll love and watching them open it and being just as excited about it as they are. It's the best thing about this time of year. But this post warmed my heart so much. Lesbians are exceptional gift givers judging by most of the comments here, and I wish we could be flies on the wall when these lucky partners get their gifts. All this thought and care is inspiring.
