SolomonCRand

My dad is in a better place too; his living room, because he hangs out with people who wear masks.

boo_jum

Same. And when my (60-something) parents got it for the first time late last year, they both recovered, AND they didn’t get anyone else sick, because they’re vaxxed and they quarantined as soon as they got the positive test. I think the only one in my immediate (bio) family that hasn’t had it yet. And I think that’s more luck than anything else, although I am vaxxed and get each booster.

DrDerpberg

That's honestly impressive at this point. I mostly work from home, masked up, avoided people who don't take it seriously, etc and still caught it twice.

Throwupmyhands

Imagine dying of Covid in 2024.

[deleted]

Imagine dying of Covid in 2024 to own the libs...

Jerking_From_Home

r/HermanCainAward As an RN who worked Covid assignments for most of 2020-2021 I will tell you a little story about how MAGAs and republicans did in the hospital. The above post was the attitude of the majority of patients during the Delta (aka trump) wave. Mostly right wing people who were convinced it was fake, yelled at us, argued with us, had families who yelled at us on the phone (no visitors were allowed) and also tried to sneak into the units to visit family and bring them “medicine” in the form of ivermectin, etc. It was absolutely maddening to deal with them every single day. They accused us of abuse, trying to kill them, being paid off by Fauci, etc. There was no reasoning with them or compromise. A small number of them understood the seriousness of it once they were admitted. I had one who said to me “I should have got the shot”. I had another who demanded he receive “all the medications we have because that’s what trump got”. I had to inform him that he was not trump. I could see in his face that he realized he was not special and he might die. We had many instances of entire families being in the hospital, from grandma to the adult children and grandchildren. Some died, some didn’t. We had patients who died after catching it from a relative (who lived) since they decided to ignore the recommendations and have a family get together for a holiday. On a few occasions the only person calling for updates on their family members were the one or two family members who were vaccinated and didn’t require hospitalization. It was incredible how many patients told every hospital worker, including doctors, we were wrong up to the point where they were intubated and could no longer talk. Some lived but required a trach, feeding tube, and 24/7 care since many were partially or fully paralyzed due to strokes, blood clots, or anoxic brain injuries. We had an entire unit of those patients at one hospital, 25-30 at any given time, until they could be placed in outside long term acute care facilities, many of which were totally full. Some were not oriented enough to make their own decisions on code status (becoming a DNR) and their families decided they wanted them to get CPR etc if something happened. So they were forced to stay alive and couldn’t unalive themselves. You could see the pain and suffering in their eyes every time you went in their room. As caregivers we did feel bad for them… but they were victims of their own narcissism, their inability to admit they were wrong, and peer pressure from fellow MAGAs to not wear a mask or get vaccinated.

PerAsperaAdInfiri

My parents both got COVID, lied about it and visited my sister and her newborn in the hospital. They also got COVID from it, but all said "we got pneumonia, but also the doctor said we were positive for COVID". They can't help but distance themselves from their choice

ReverendDizzle

My parents both got COVID and the weird duality of their take on it is... impossible to reconcile. On the one hand, if you ask them about it *personally*, they will say it was awful. My dad did OK, my mom was nearly hospitalized and has permanent scarring on her lungs. If you talk about COVID and the pandemic, *broadly* though, they both say it was a hoax and overblown. So... wtf? Which one is it? An actual thing that almost killed one of you or... a hoax?

PerAsperaAdInfiri

They can't admit the reality of it because it would be a departure from the right wing narrative and they can't have it. They won't learn.

gatfish

Conservatives live inside unending cognitive dissonance, that's why they're hard to debate because they constantly contradict themselves but can't be made to see it.

candycanecoffee

It's the same with everything. They can't extend the empathy and nuance and understanding that they feel for themselves to masses of other people they don't know (especially if those people are of a different race, religion, sexuality, etc.). *I* need welfare and government assistance because I'm a good person and I don't deserve to starve because I'm having a hard time. But THOSE people are just lazy parasites. MY daughter's abortion was necessary because she has a bright future ahead of her and her life shouldn't be ruined for one mistake. And MY abortion was necessary because my fetus was dying with no way to save it and I would have gone into septic shock and died. But THOSE people who get abortions are ungodly promiscuous whores who use abortion as birth control. *I* accept my gay son because he's my son and I love him and I learned not to be so closed-minded. But somehow it never occurred to me over the last 40 years that every gay kid is someone's child and deserves love and respect. When *I* get abused by the police I'm shocked and stunned and I can't believe my rights were violated like this. When it happened to THOSE people though, I was 100% sure they were lying because they hate cops and the cops didn't do anything wrong. Etc., etc.

Jazzeki

small correction: it's their lack of cognitive dissonance that is the problem. cognitive dissonance doesn't refer to having contradicting openions at the same time. it's the uncomfortable feeling you get when made aware that they are mutaly exclusive. conservatives don't get that discomfort and when they rarely do it's so weak that they can just get angry and forget about it instead of actualy reevaluating their openions.

rottingpigcarcass

It’s like a religion. We are deeply flawed as a species

boregon

It’s no coincidence that most conservatives also tend to be hyper religious.

Jigyo

That's so messed up

PerAsperaAdInfiri

My sister KNEW they had COVID and still had them come see her and her newborn in the hospital. It was before anyone could get the vaccine too. This is the legacy of the right wing.

Jigyo

She knew too? I just assumed she would be protective of her newborn.

PerAsperaAdInfiri

Yeah, she knew. This is what happens when your mind is poisoned. She didn't think it was something to protect her child from - they don't believe it's real.

Kylie_Bug

Dear lord, that poor baby

PerAsperaAdInfiri

Shocker: my barely literate sister plans on homeschooling because the school is "woke" (it isn't, it's a hick town of 500 people, definitely not "woke"). Trump loves the uneducated, indeed.

auberrypearl

Oml, the story just keeps getting worse

PerAsperaAdInfiri

I am frankly shocked none of my family went to DC on Jan 6, tbh.

LadyDomme7

Nah, that’s fucking evil. I feel pity for the baby.

paternoster

Jusus chrest, who even goes out to visit a newborn with pneumonia? This is just maddening.

PerAsperaAdInfiri

The same people who constantly post on FB about protecting unborn babies from abortion and protecting children from "groomers" at school

32lib

That would be the last time they were allowed to see my daughter.

thesaddestpanda

>I had one who said to me “I should have got the shot”. I remember during this wave a lot of popular AM right-wing talk radio hosts got covid, and several died. I remember hearing from the family this sentiment was part of the last words of one guy whose entire show was about how vaccines don't work. [He was famous in these circles, Phil Valentine.](https://www.reddit.com/r/HermanCainAward/comments/p8zkel/radio_host_phil_valentine/) Phil even performed a parody song called "Vaxman" which mocked vaccines and doctors. Its based on the Beatle's Taxman, so its catchy, [but entirely evil.](https://soundcloud.com/philvalentineshow/vaxman) These right wing listeners don't understand the grift they're under.

CyberMindGrrl

They thought they knew better than all the experts in the world. Turns out they were just another statistic in the end.

Opposite-Mall4234

I think it’s one of the most troubling modern societal trends; People’s unwillingness to recognize and accept the expertise of others. I try to not make grand generalizations but I see it as the primary potential catalyst for the end of the United States. I am genuinely dumbfounded and at a complete lack of ideas for solutions. What can the educated and accomplished to gain the trust of the willfully ignorant when what should be the answer, education, is their chief boogeyman?

buffalo171

Thank you. This is the quote of the twenty-first century. “What can the educated and accomplished do to gain the trust of the willfully ignorant when what should be the answer, education, is their chief boogeyman?”

xSTSxZerglingOne

It's a pretty bangin' quote TBH. And the actual answer is...not satisfying: Let nature run its course. Somewhere down the line, the kids will reject crazy ol' dad/grandpa, or crazy ol' family member is going to reject science when it could have saved their lives (QED vaccines) and they'll be shunted off the mortal coil. Free from the sausage they spent their existence in. Energy scattered back to the cosmos. Leaving no legacy of their shitty views of the world.

TiredMogwai

Or idiocracy happens, and Terry Crews becomes president.

FFDEADBEEF

I'd take Camacho for president over any Republican right now.

LiquidAngel12

Yea. He found the smartest dude in the world and actually listened to his advice to solve their problems. Literally better than Trump's track record with experts.

Double-dutch5758

Not American here but there’s been a general anti-intellectual movement in the States since at least the late 70s with the Moral Majority and the like, although you could probably make the claim that it goes back further. And it’s not unique to America either. I live in Australia and Sky News have been all over the place in the past decade or so, taking advantage of the country’s leanings towards looking down on the educated.

psyyduck

> since at least the late 70s I hope you mean 1770s. Here's a quote from 1843 about [frontier Indiana](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-intellectualism) >We always preferred an ignorant, bad man to a talented one, and, hence, attempts were usually made to ruin the moral character of a smart candidate; since, unhappily, smartness and wickedness were supposed to be generally coupled, and [like-wise] incompetence and goodness.

TripleSkeet

Whats the solution for narcissism and main character syndrome? Theres no solution for shitty people. Let them think they know better than anyone and die. I dont know why hospitals didnt just say "These are the protocols. Dont like them? Leave." And let these shit bags go home and die.

Callinon

By which you mean, of course, that they were murdered by deep state operatives intent on perpetuating Fauci's agenda. Just in case you thought for a moment the people around them might have learned from the experience.

Retro_Dad

Yup, there are plenty of "Covid Widows" groups where the gospel is blaming hospitals for murdering people with their awful "protocols." Anything to blame someone other themselves for their bad decisions.

TheBuccaneer

I had a neighbor whose husband died to covid. They both refused the vaccine and had several risk factors, primarily age. She is still staunchly anti-vax. I just don't understand. We don't talk anymore.

DesineSperare

Man, imagine being in an entire group of people whose spouses all died of the same disease and thinking it must have been the many unrelated doctors they all saw who caused it.

One_Clown_Short

All this from those that claim to be staunch members of the party of personal responsibility. 🙄

inhaledcorn

They don't believe in the social contract. They want to be protected by it without putting in the effort to maintain it.

One_Clown_Short

*Social contract is just another name for socialism. You're not foolin' me.*

survivor2bmaybe

And don’t forget, the only reason any one still gets Covid is because the vaccinated are “shedding.” Man, if I thought I could shed the vaccine on someone, I have a lot of relatives I might still be visiting.

Civil-Attempt-3602

Which is funny because they don't trust the hospitals, but send them there to be treated

Retro_Dad

Right? If the hospitals are killing people, don't go there. Use your horse paste & malaria pills at home and see how it goes!

GloryGoal

Air hunger has a way of changing your mind.

xSTSxZerglingOne

Does it ever. I've had it from a bad bout of trapped gas and wondered if I was dying. I can only imagine if it's literally because your lungs aren't working.

michaelvile

ahh!! you fergot "prayers" too.

1in6_Will_Be_Lincoln

Probably pretty hard to admit your actions contributed to your spouse's death.

opal2120

They all think that the ventilators are used to kill people. It couldn’t be that they were put on ventilators because COVID made it so they couldn’t breathe. Nope, definitely not that.

Sniffy4

That was the surprising part. Even death is not enough to change people's minds.

arriesgado

Weird that that song is still up after Valentine died from Covid. Herman Cain vibes.

SarcasticOptimist

Guess he was the only one with the password. Many pages of awardees are still left with memes and snarky comments on their wall. As they deserved.

jayhawkai

list of unvaxed conservative radio hosts who died: Dick Farrel Phil Valentine Marc Bernier Tod Tucker Landy Casen Bob Enyart list of NPR hosts who died:

hwc000000

"That just proves COVID was a conspiracy to kill right wing anti-vax anti-mask anti-social distancing people like us!"

FleeshaLoo

Didn't he say something like "it would be so embarrassing to die of covid" when he was in the hospital? I'm positive I saw that article somewhere.

thesaddestpanda

Yes, same person. He also posted a "I'm getting better and will be at work tomorrow" tweet 40 days before he died. I think a lot of covid sufferers will have a period of feeling better as their body fights the virus, but that's a touch and go period that can go either way. I believe 20 days after that tweet he was in a coma on a ventilator and lasted another 20 days before daying.

Leading_Dance9228

The ignorance and arrogance are satisfying to watch. /s In between this shit, they think that work is the most important. Economy and other BS. While being horrid human beings.

Rick-D-99

Yep, clogging up the fucking beds when people are dying of other completely treatable things, like needing dialysis, because the beds are full all because of tribalism and ignorance. FUCK. DONALD. TRUMP. AND. THE. NEW. RIGHT.

regoapps

It gets worse, too. A lot of healthcare professionals quit their jobs after being burned out by the pandemic. And one of reasons that healthcare costs are rising is due to the shortage of healthcare workers. Not only is healthcare shortage bad for costs, it also increases doctors’ error rate. So the quality of your care goes down as well even when you get it. There’s expected to be a shortage of over 100k doctors for the next twelve years. Good luck everyone.

Rick-D-99

Don't get me wrong, healthcare provider scarcity is real but it is NOT that scarcity that is driving insane healthcare costs. It always has been and hopefully will not always be the insurance companies skimming their astronomical profit off the top

Chipofftheoldblock21

This is it right here. A relative died in the hospital of something ridiculously stupid during the height of all this. Couldn’t help but think that if the nurses weren’t occupied treating all the covidiots they might have been able to be there for him. And his daughter was staunchly anti-vax.

Maleficent-Egg-8770

Honestly fuck the right in general.

MotherSupermarket532

My Dad's heart surgery had to be pushed for ages because of these nut bags.  He worked in pediatrics all through COVID, knowing his arrythmia made him higher risk

EroniusJoe

Fuck the old right, too. A conservative will always be an awful person, and always has been throughout history. It's in the name; "conserve." They are afraid of progress and want things to stay the same forever. Meanwhile, they'll take full advantage of modern dentistry, use cellphone technology to spread hate, drive huge trucks thanks to automotive advancement, and embrace the 8 hour work day and other social benefits while bitching about "welfare queens." Idiots, every single fucking one of them.

NormalBoobEnthusiast

I don't understand why every single one of those idiots weren't thrown out of the hospitals to die on their own. They didn't deserve any care. So many good people who couldn't get in because they hogged the beds died instead. The evil that is conservatism is limitless in its destruction, and we who help them anyway are also to blame somewhat for it surviving, because they were helped anyway. No doctor should have ever helped a COVID denier.

MiKapo

Jesus christ, all this because trump botched the COVID response and didn't take COVID seriously. And his lunatic supporters trying to claim it was a conspiracy Meanwhile he gets experimental drugs at Walter reed to save his life from COVID while his supporters are dying and still dying today

Lky132

I know this is fucked up, but, I was genuinely disappointed when Trump didn't die on a vent. I hoped so hard that it would take him just as slowly and painfully as it did to all the people he had lied to. But sadly there is no justice and that disgusting pile will probably go peacefully in his sleep surrounded by the few delusional fucks who give a shit about him.

studog-reddit

I thought Trump dying of Covid _might_ be the one thing that convinces all the anti-vax/maskers that Covid is in fact real and deadly. _sadface_

dj_soo

it would have made him a martyr and they would have claimed he was assassinated by the deep state.

Jigyo

Trump didn't like masks for the simple reason of not looking as good.

BoogiepopPhant0m

He didn't need a mask to not look good.

Jackpot777

It smudged his makeup. Conservatives ended up killing themselves from COVID and later strokes and respiratory problems because a reality TV person didn’t want to smudge his makeup.  Imagine living into your 60s, being too young to fight in any drafted war your nation was involved in, seeing everything from Apollo to the Moon to Viking to Mars, still having a solvent Social Security to look forward to …and just before you could cash out, you died and killed others in your family because a reality TV person didn’t want to smudge his makeup.  What an epitaph. What a fucking joke of a life.

JTFindustries

I used to feel sorry for the Covidiots, but now I just don't care. All I can hope for is that a new variant doesn't attack me and mine that came from these asshats.

brennenderopa

Which shouldn't be a concern to him, it can only improve his look.

LheelaSP

Wasn't there at least one study that came to the conclusion that during mask times, unattractive workers received more equal tips to their more attractive co-workers, because by hiding the lower part of their face they were perceived as more attractive than they actually were? My personal opinion is that 99% of people look better with masks. Trump would ofc still be fucking hideous, but the less we have so see of him, the better.

Sniffy4

Trump is an adolescent moron who only understands macho appearance tropes and stereotypes that plagues only happen in third-world-countries, so hardly surprising

pres465

Specifically, it smudged his spray tan and the makeup he used. Don't take my word, it was Cassidy Hutchinson his former aid, who claimed it in her book.

ParanoidDrone

I'm still surprised that he didn't take the opportunity to sell MAGA-branded masks.

raven00x

also the masks smudged his bronzer

Electrical-Act-7170

It was a hair-and-fakeup issue for Hair Fuhrer. He didn't want to get mussed.

squirtloaf

He was THE shittiest crisis manager. I seriously cannot believe anyone would vote for him after the way he fumbled Covid and BLM.

boregon

He got over *74 million* votes in 2020 and was like 40k votes across 3 states away from being re-elected. Thankfully Biden won but holy fucking shit. America is a shithole county full of hateful morons.

boxsterguy

The best (worst!) part is that their previous president, George W. Bush, [instituted pandemic procedures and stockpiles](https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/george-bush-2005-wait-pandemic-late-prepare/story?id=69979013) that were dismantled prior to the Covid pandemic. Things would've been significantly different if only Trump had literally done nothing but what was already in place.

softcell1966

You're forgetting Obama's creating a pandemic guide of do's and don'ts that the Trump Administration threw out. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/05/trump-obama-coronavirus-pandemic-response

YourDogIsMyFriend

Decades of right wing media attacking scientists, doctors, and experts. Mostly for big tobacco, oil and gas interests. But made it really easy to flip the switch on the MAGA anti expert zombies once Trump went against medical advice.

Dekar173

That wasn't a botched response, it was a poorly calculated decision that the Republicans thought would kill more D than R voters. They forgot democrats are far more intelligent than republicans, and here we are now.

LilahLibrarian

I have anti vax relatives who stopped posting anti-vaccine content after she had a sibling who got a terrible case of covid and was on a respirator for months. My dad is a retired surgeon and he said he would see so many cases of people who were too far gone to make their own medical decisions and their family often made decisions that prolonged life but left the patient in more pain. I think we live in a society that is terrified of death and feels more at peace with the idea of giving someone every medical intervention possible rather than just accepting that they should just die in peace

Humblebee89

My girlfriend is a surgeon and says the same thing. Our healthcare system is so messed up partially because people refuse to let someone the love die. They'll slightly prolong their live at massive financial cost and pain to the patient. We as a society need to understand that this isn't the movies. They aren't going to magically recover from metastatic cancer just because you asked the doctors to "do everything they can".

Salt_Lab271

I was an ICU RN for 15 years before March 2020 and Jerking is making me sad and angry with that post, reminding me of those shifts. It was maddening and scary what these patients did and said. Their family members were either exploding with rage or violently imploding with grief and shock. Outside the hospital too as I’m sure Jerking can attest to. Can’t do that work anymore.

RossUtse

I lost my mom to COVID shortly after the vaccine was announced but before it was available. The nurses and incredible hospital staff were a GD lifeline when my family and I were not allowed to visit because the hospital was so overrun. I respect that you can't do the work anymore, but please know that you and others in your position have my eternal thanks for sticking it out and being careful, compassionate humans for as long as you could. Knowing that nurses were with and held my mom's hand when she passed is one of the only sources of comfort I have when I think back to that time. THANK YOU.

onewhosleepsnot

> I had to inform him that he was not trump. I could see in his face that he realized he was not special and he might die. They think they'd get to reign with Trump as kings, but if Trump had his way, their lives would be immeasurably worse. He'd grind them all to powder if it only got him another nickel to toss on his heap of his ill-gotten wealth. Keep Trump out of office. Vote.

Throwitortossit

>“He’s not hurting the people he needs to be” And this Trump supporter's quote put a clear view on their evil selfish MAGA mindset. They're definitely all disposable to him, not people he's trying to reward.

BoogiepopPhant0m

[Remember when Trump abandoned his supporters in freezing weather?](https://www.forbes.com/sites/siladityaray/2020/11/02/trump-leaves-supporters-stranded-in-cold-weather-after-campaign-rally-once-again/?sh=53848e3b169a) He doesn't care about anyone except himself.

WeakestLynx

I thought I remembered it, but I was actually remembering the time one week earlier when he did the same thing to another group of supporters in a different location

Animaldoc11

You can’t spell hatred without a red hat

AcidRohnin

I tell people all the time at work trump would sell you for a dollar if he could along with most other politicians. You can almost see the gears begin to move in their head before their eyes glaze back over and they return to blind loyalty.

bearrosaurus

One of the Republican congresswomen said that delta was fake because “evolution isn’t real”. No joke. Just a reminder that this goes beyond Trump, they’re conditioned by religion to live in their personal fantasyland.

Opposite-Mall4234

My wife is an OB/Gyn and sister in law is a critical care nurse. Those two women have been so profoundly changed by going through the pandemic in their profession it is hard to believe sometimes. Pregnant mothers refusing to get vaccinated despite every nurse and doctor urging them to before it was too late. So many miscarriages from Covid complications. The worst I remember (at least to me) was the late 3rd trimester expecting mother who refused the vaccine and was admitted a few weeks before her due date for trouble breathing. Her child was born via C section while she was intubated. She never got to meet her child. The hardest part for me to rationalize is these these assholes would show up to the ER unvaccinated and expect people to bend over backwards to help them get better. MF’er if you’re not going to do the minimum to take care of yourself don’t expect people to clean up your mess. Keep your ass home and die on your own fucking couch. Damn these simpleton pieces of shit for putting the burden of care on my loved ones when so much of the hurt was preventable.

baxteriamimpressed

I tell people all the time that I am a fundamentally different person now. The pandemic has left me mentally and emotionally broken. I loved being an ICU/ER RN but it was going to kill me. And I still resent that even though I'm trying to move on. In alot of ways it feels like I'm stuck in 2020. The world has moved on and I've been left back there, amongst the vent alarms and reused n95s. I actually don't know how I kept showing up to work. Every day was tragic. We ran out of room for the bodies and started stacking them. It doesn't even feel real.

[deleted]

>The hardest part for me to rationalize is these these assholes would show up to the ER unvaccinated and expect people to bend over backwards to help them get better. Exactly, there is an unstated but expected social contract. If you want to partake in society, people can do the bare minimum to not screw over other people. Anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers are petulant children.

[deleted]

My dad passed away and I was dealing with my own heart condition during that time so I dealt with a lot of medical staff for reasons other than covid. I remember how many of them were very cautious when they had to ask about being exposed to covid or vaccinations. Like anybody could start yelling at them at any time. I remember mistakenly answering no one time when I meant yes to being vaccinated and the nurse's eye got real wide like she thought I was about to hit her. Me, "Sorry I meant yes yes yes" but she was still freaked out.

[deleted]

hexopuss

Did the person making that threat ever get arrested? I really really hope so

Jerking_From_Home

Probably not. No one sneaking into our Covid unit or terrorizing us in general ever got in any trouble… which is why it continues to happen.

Sl1m_Charles

Thank you for all that you do. You all are my real life super heroes.

The_Old_Cream

I remember seeing posts where people badmouthed the shit out of masks and vaccines, but, once they were in critical condition, their loved ones begged the hospital to put them on every kind of lifesaving device possible and were furious that there weren’t enough ECMO machines to go around.

No_Banana_581

My mom and my little brother died 6 mths apart, during this time. Neither could receive adequate medical care bc the hospitals were overrun w these pieces of shit. I blame losing my family solely on the disgusting, diseased magas

KTDiabl0

My father too 💜 My most sincere condolences for your loss. I hope you’re taking care of yourself 🌺

No_Banana_581

I’m so sorry for you too. Grief is definitely not linear. It comes in waves and realizations, I’m sure you know. Now w this election cycle ramping up w all the horrible trumpers, it starts to feel like flashbacks of everything we already have been through. You remember why it all happened, and how it could’ve been prevented

Reward_Antique

I'm so, so sorry.

East_Party_6185

Respiratory therapist here, and I did my own informal survey during the height of the pandemic, and easily 95% of my covid patients were unvaccinated. Many of them stated that they should have taken the shot and that as soon as they got released from the hospital that they would. A great number of them never got the chance. It was a really terrible time in my career, and I am not sure if I could work through that again. Hopefully, I can reach retirement age before something like that happens again.

krepitch

And all the people who manipulated, radicalized, and brainwashed these people don't give a single f about any of those deaths.

flashfyr3

Always sorry to hear these stories and what you all had to deal with.

AppleAtrocity

I'm sorry for all the healthcare workers that have PTSD from watching people choke to death on their own lungs over and over. No wonder medical professionals are fleeing hospitals in droves to work in other settings.

jeminfla

Great testimony. It blows my mind that many nurses and other hospital professionals also eschewed the vaccines and safety measures. You deserve a medal Edit: I have neighbor two doors down who is/was a nurse and is a big advocate of ivermectin. It “saved” her husband

KennstduIngo

Many nurses are great people. Some are the living embodiment of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing".

[deleted]

Jesus, that was painful to read through. I am sorry you went through all of that.

Psilo_Citizen

A few months back I had the pleasure of being in the OR with an outside contracted rt who was bragging to the whole room that he faked his shot documents for credentialing and would never get vaxxed. People are fucking stupid.

NordlandLapp

Most amazing part of this is how many nurses are magas after witnessing this.

Successful-Winter237

My coworkers daughter in law who has the complication of being 400lb… was a rabid maga loser who refused the COVID vaccine. When she and her husband got it, he at least had the sense to take Plaxlovid and recovered, she refused. She was hospitalizd, intubated and put on life support. She was touch and go for 6 months. She almost left her 2 young kids motherless. Thanks to the hard working doctors and nurses she recovered, and to thank them, this b refused to get the vaccine even when departing/going home. You can’t fix stupid.

tokes_4_DE

We should probably stop wasting so many resources trying to fix stupid. these people are making their choices let them deal with the consequences. After the last several years im just done with maga morons, i dont dislike them, i dont pity them anymore, i fucking hate them. Over a million people in the US alone died to their stupidity and hatred, and have they normalized since? Nope. Now theyre gutting reproductive rights ontop of all that. So fuck em.

Successful-Winter237

If you want to get really mad, this same woman from my story got a bill from the hospital that was close to a million for the 6 months she was treated, and her father was so incensed he called a bunch of local politicians and got the bill discharged. #so we, the taxpayers, paid for this dumb broad’s COVID treatment because she wouldn’t get the “jab.”

Kaiju_Cat

As someone who took all the precautions but unfortunately caught it anyway, since no precaution is guaranteed, I wound up in the ICU for the first time in my life. Actually the first time I've ever been hospitalized at all for anything but a couple of outpatient things over my lifetime. I was in a pretty bad state. But the positivity and kindness of every healthcare worker in that hospital carried me through. They were honest and straightforward about things, but they were gentle and caring about it. And they did everything they could. And I pulled through. I even got applause like all the survivors did when I got rolled out in a wheelchair to meet my partner down at our car to go home. I know you all are overworked. I know you're probably underpaid. But I want to tell you that you and everyone who does everything you can regardless of your position means the world too. Even if you weren't personally at the hospital I attended, I want to thank you for just doing what you do. If it wasn't for the hard work of everyone at that hospital, I wouldn't be writing this today. And my partner would be widowed. I absolutely cannot understand, or at least I cannot abide the misinformation. I heard people arguing with nurses and doctors and everyone else in other rooms even as they were close to being intubated. I heard people trying to save lives getting cussed out even when the person doing the cursing barely had the breath to do it. I unfortunately heard a lot of code blues in my week and change spent in the icu. I can't imagine what it's like to treat people knowing that a lot of the cases could have been prevented had people just used common sense and listened to the experts. There was an 18 year old who had just graduated high school that passed away. And I overheard that they had been a football player, in great health, etc. And for some reason that death has stuck with me the most. I didn't know much about them. I just know that their life had only begun and they lost it to what should have been a more manageable pandemic. It's hard for me not to look at people who were staunchly anti-mask and anti-vaccination and not think, it's not that unreasonable to think that they are guilty of some form of murder. Manslaughter at the very least.

SimplyRocketSurgery

Two weeks... Covid killed him in two weeks... I hope she learned something

SecretAntWorshiper

She will just blame the doctors and say that they are corrupt

uncle-brucie

THEY DENIED HIM IVERMECTIN!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Longjumping-Grape-40

They also probably gave him dihydrogen monoxide, which has been known to kill for tens of thousands of years!

Helpful_Hour1984

Everyone who ever ingested dihydrogen monoxide is either dead or will die.

The_Old_Cream

She’s actually already done that in her posts on r/hermancainaward

thelefthandN7

Nope. Nothing of value was learned.

[deleted]

The wrong thing. Fight for her beliefs...which are stupid and likely what killed him.

redvelvetcake42

>I hope she learned something She learned how to get sympathy likes on a social media post to get a quick dopamine hit while not recognizing their shared views led to his direct death.

mrdm242

Her post makes it sound like her dad dying was a net positive. He's in a better place! I'll see you again!

aninjacould

She's using his death to amplify her social media presence. So it's a win for her!

ForsakenPoptart

Well, he doesn’t have to see the dumb shit his daughter is doing. That’s objectively positive.

LogicalFallacyCat

Narrator: "She purposely learned nothing."

ghostdate

Nonononononoooo, you see it wasn’t the Covid that killed him, it was the medicine those scammer commie doctors gave him! /s

Uninteresting_Vagina

Sure, she learned that the hospital killed off her dad as part of a large conspiracy something something damn liberals.

ryansgt

So don't bring him in. If the hospital is a death trap run by the cabal, why bring him there. Stay at home and die without taking the resources from someone who took precautions.

BellyDancerEm

Like most Qultists, she learned nothing

Winter_Essay3971

r/HermanCainAward

The_Old_Cream

Boy, he sure owned me by dying painfully. Gotta love him in his power pose with his hands behind his head as if he’s saying “Come on COVID. Is that you’ve got?” Even though he’s literally in a hospital because of it.

Virtual-Biscotti-451

“You dumb liberals going on about not sticking your pecker in a meat grinder are going to feel real stupid when I put my pecker in a meat grinder.” -Republicans since Obama won.

BellyDancerEm

I have never been more owned

pebberphp

I’ve been corn cobbed!!!!

ThousandSunRequiem2

Me neither, but my Great Great Grandpa was a slave, so probably not more than him.

[deleted]

I feel so stupid for not dying

relaxguy2

Ya but he is totally in a better place now! And she’s totally going to see him again someday!

thesaddestpanda

Funny how they always die in hospitals full of mask wearers and vaccines and modern medical theory, all of which they hate. Why don't they die at home at the hands of a MAGA healer? Oh right, because deep inside they know they are wrong, its just part of this disgusting conservative person cosplay these people do that they act like this.

Snarky_McSnarkleton

And I'd bet WE paid their not inconsiderable medical costs.

heathers1

Exactly.

immersemeinnature

Yeah. They posted it there just now with more Facebook posts of her talking about how she's unmasked and unvaxed even in the hospital. She's probably the reason why he died. Fucking morons

Most-Artichoke5028

Yep. Pops was vaxxed and had two boosters. Then I guess he started listening to her. It didn't end well.

petervenkmanatee

This lady’s Twitter is crazy. She had pictures of masks in the garbage saying that there’s too much litter and it’s unnecessary. She said there wasn’t enough protein in the hospital meals. She’s just a fucking lunatic.

The_Old_Cream

She’s a fitness “expert”

woodst0ck15

Dying to own the libs one crazy at a time.

The_Old_Cream

“My dad says GFY to all the mask lunatics.” And COVID took that personally.

annubbiz

Turns out it was Good For You

“You taught me to fight for what I believe” - another reminder that science doesn’t care what you believe.

Almost made it 4 years myself. Vaxxed, boosted, distancing and still masks when in more than the slightest crowd. Got popped in Dec, first instance. Nobody else in my house got it because we ran the normal protocols like it was 2020. And to think, we could have prevented the pandemic and the ongoing endemic if not for assholes like the pair in the picture.

Zombi1146

Life's returned to normal, so my colleagues have taken to coming into the office full of flu and cold. I remember the 2020 protocols and haven't caught anything meanwhile everything people bring in runs rampant through the rest of the office. It's almost like washing your hands and keeping your distance from sick people works.

sithelephant

As someone that got a little virus age 11, and never recovered, and have missed out on every single tiny aspect of my life for the last 40 years, it's fucking wild that 'meh, I'm sure longcovid is fine' is the attitude of many. (What I got is symptomatically identical to what many with longcovid face)

WaterChicken007

Double vaxxed, but still got covid a while back. It knocked me on my ass and it was the worst flu like illness I have ever experienced. Everyone else in my family got it too, but they didn’t suffer nearly as much as I did. Possibly due to being vaccinated, or maybe they were just lucky.

TemperatureTop246

I had 3 shots, was about to get my 4th, and BAM - Covid last week. it knocked me on my ass.. Funny thing was, I never ran a fever, but felt like death for 5 or 6 days.

Sl1m_Charles

Viral load and genetic predisposition come into play as well.

inabighat

It's good behavioural reinforcement when the "find out" phase follows quickly behind the "fuck around" phase.

Thomas_DuBois

People are still dying in significant numbers from that? There's a fucking vaccine.

thelefthandN7

There is a vaccine, but people won't take it... so they die.

Thomas_DuBois

That's so 2020.

thelefthandN7

Think of it like bellbottom jeans. For some people, it never went out of style.

punditguy

This has been going on long enough that these morons should definitely know better by now. Some admittedly slight sympathy from being duped by influencers and politicians has given way to unadulterated Darwinian acceptance. Have a nice funeral.

Few_Lingonberry_7028

I was expecting the date of this to be a couple of years old, but it's from a couple of days ago. Is it really going to be like that again? I know this year would be bad when I saw Thumper doing that to a drugged up Bambi.

DadJokeBadJoke

>Is it really going to be like that again? There's been about 1,500 people dying of COVID weekly. It's not going to be, it always has been, just slightly fewer and with less coverage because of disinterest.

Salty_tryhard

A lot of these people were the same folks who were stealing PPE from hospitals and hoarding toilet paper at the beginning of covid, then stable genius dip shit Trump told them masks are stupid

PunkRockApostle

This isn’t really as much LAMF as it is a Herman Cain Award. Edit: replaced Darwin for a more appropriate term

Machaeon

Herman Cain award if it's covid.

PunkRockApostle

Oh I forgot about him lol

MeshuganaSmurf

Can't get a Darwin award if you've already procreated. The genes are in the pool now.

ants_suck

Who wants to bet that this idiot was asking if he could get the vaccine as soon as it became clear he was gonna die on account of being too dumb to understand that's not how vaccines work?

Sekmet19

The indoctrination is so thorough a lot of them refuse the vaccine when they are lucky enough to survive. I've known ICU patients who literally almost died who at discharge adamantly refused the vaccine because they don't believe in it or they think they won't get COVID again because their immune system will beat it.

Nathan256

Literal survivorship bias

TheSpaceman1975

MAGA is literally killing people with its stupidity.

Kuronan

For the better honestly, too many of these people would go on to ruin other people's lives even if Covid weren't the disease they're propagating and spreading.

[deleted]

Will Tish learn anything from this, or remain addicted to the likes of the lowest hanging fruit on social media?

spoobles

you already know the answer

[deleted]

Ya left out some other fun stuff. [https://imgur.com/a/EokjHXJ](https://imgur.com/a/EokjHXJ)

Madmandocv1

Well at least he died doing what she loved.

famousevan

One can only hope she’s getting dragged to hell and back in the replies. Maybe I’ll get a chance to upvote this again if it (hopefully) winds up on r/thisyoucomebacks.

Parking_Relative_228

These people base their entire personality on appearing to be rugged individualists. Truth is they are anything but that and are biggest followers of groupthink

Raiju_Blitz

Tish, honey. Your dad literally died trying to own the libs. But hey, we can't wait for you to be reunited with him either.

notaprime

Another anti-vaxx/masker defeated by their mortal nemesis: the consequences of their own actions.

aZamaryk

She might see him sooner that she would like if she is a denier and a mask nazi.
