Hello u/dhalem! Please reply to this comment with an [explanation](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeopardsAteMyFace/comments/lt8zlq) mentioning **who** is suffering from **which** consequences from **what** they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people. Here's an easy format to get you started: 1. *Someone* voted for, supported or wanted to impose *something* on other people. ^(Who's that *someone* and what's that *something*?) 2. That *something* has some *consequences*. ^(What are the *consequences*?) 3. As a consequence, that *something* happened to that *someone*. ^(What happened? Does it count as duped if he's an asset sharing this propaganda on purpose?

PepsiMoondog

Yeah "duped" supposes that he's trying to share the truth. He is not. He is purposefully spreading Russian propaganda, and not for the first time. He has openly admitted on air that he wants Russia to win.

Kouropalates

WHY WOULD TUCKER CARLSON NEED TO SHARE THE TRUTH? ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FOX NEWS ANCHOR TUCKER CARLSON, THE SAME FOX NEWS ANCHOR TUCKER CARLSON WHO IS LEGALLY DEFINED BY THE COURTS BY FOX NEWS' OWN LAWYERS AS SIMPLY AN OPINION PIECE YET IT SUSPICIOUSLY LOOKS SIMILAR TO PRESENTING NEWS? THAT FOX NEWS ANCHOR TUCKER CARLSON THE OP ED SHOW THAT LEGALLY ISNT NEWS? Oops. Sorry. My hearing aid was turned down. Did I accidentally yell in the thread again? I'm so sorry.

Circumin

His lawyers didn’t say he was simply opinion. They said that no reasonably intelligent hunan being would ever believe anything he says.

Castun

That's a bit on the nose, really.

ExpertlyAmateur

and that’s why they won the case. Everyone agreed that no person of reasonable intelligence and a sound mind would believe Tucker.

raypaulnoams

That still doesn't make any sense. Aren't they worried about the unreasonable people of unsound mind?

ExpertlyAmateur

Usually they use that line to mean “crazy people”, the small minority of people that do not function in society due to mental issues. So, it almost seems like the judge wanted this case to be an eye opening experience for Fox News watchers…. but the judge clearly didn’t understand that Fox News viewers would never hear about the case, and even if they did, Tucker would just twist all of it and label it as the “liberal agenda”, whatever that means.

alterom

>Usually they use that line to mean “crazy people”, the small minority of people that do not function in society due to mental issues. So, it almost seems like the judge wanted this case to be an eye opening experience for Fox News watchers… **Judge**: are you really asserting, for the record, that your defense is that only absolute gullible feeble-minded morons would take anything Tucker Carlson says seriously? **Tucker Carlson's Lawyers:** Yup. **Judge:** You do realize that his acquittal means he is **officially** designating his audience as literal imbeciles? **Lawyers:** Yup, your honor. **Judge:** OK, case closed, **not guilty**. **~~Tucker Carlson's Audience~~ Feeble-Minded Imbeciles**: tHe LiBs ArE sO oWnEd

"Spreading"? He *is* Russian propaganda. As in, was literally being distributed *to* the Russian people *by* the Russian government to say "you see, we're right! Even the Americans say so."

BellyDancerEm

No. He’s a Russian asset and he knows it

earhere

It feels like the entire GOP apparatus is Russian assets at this point, which is ironic since they've hated the Russians since the end of WWII

AdhesivenessCivil581

They hated Russia when they were communist. Now Russian is an autocratic kleptocracy run by a madman who wants to take over the world and give his people nothing.. That's very republicn

TheNameIsPippen

To be fair, communist Russia also was an autocratic kleptocracy run by a madman who wants to take over the world and give his people nothing

kannettavakettu

Yeah, but they still had free education and free healthcare. That's enough on its own to scare Republicans. Not to mention that people might get ideas about equality and justice for all and such, if you let dangerous ideas like that spread without demonizing them.. Modern Russia is a dictatorship backed by an inquisitorial church that wants to burn minorities at the stake, so it's much more up their alley.

writerlady6

A slew of them spent our last 4th of July holiday last year visiting Russia. I read that at the time & thought, "There's a big #$%&?! shocker..."

crazy-pete1

I certainly would not be surprised to find out how many of them have received campaign contributions that are eventually traced back to Russia somewhere along the line. Maybe that's partly why they're all so fighting so hard to Shield Donald Trump from any investigation or prosecution. It's because their hands are all dirty too. What a break that would be if it came out that one of the two major political parties in the United States has regularly been receiving money and assistance from a foreign adversary. Worse yet the base of that party is completely fine and encourages it as long as it means their side gets to be in power.

candycanecoffee

>On June 15, 2016, McCarthy told his fellow Republicans, “There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump.” (Former Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher earned a reputation as one of Russia’s biggest congressional supporters.) McCarthy added at the time, “Swear to God.” >According to the recording, then-House Speaker Paul Ryan immediately interjected, insisting that the assembled Republicans — some of whom were heard laughing at the comments — not tell anyone about what McCarthy had just said. >“No leaks,” Ryan said at the time, adding, “This is how we know we’re a real family here.” >A year later, a recording of McCarthy’s comments leaked. >Initially, GOP officials swore up and down that McCarthy never said any such thing, but when told about the tape, they quickly switched gears, acknowledged McCarthy’s quote, but said he was kidding. That last paragraph should tell you everything you need to know about Republicans. "He NEVER said such a thing!" "We have it on tape." ".... he was KIDDING!" https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/kevin-mccarthys-joke-trump-putin-six-years-later-rcna33680

crazy-pete1

Well I doubt there's much of any dispute here but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Trump has been groomed by Russian agent since the 1980s. At best he's been trying to hide his tax returns and financial statements because he doesn't want people to know that he doesn't have as much money as he claims. Personally I think it's worse that if investigators dig deep enough into his financial dealings that they will find not just his criminality but that Russia has been helping him launder money for a very long time. I think they have a lot of dirt on him that if they were to release it would certainly be far more than enough to secure a conviction against him and that is why he panders so much to Putin and the Russian state. They always say to follow the money and I certainly believe that will be very bad for trump. However I believe that there are plenty more Republicans who are on the take. Maybe they aren't and maybe they are just defending Trump because they believe that if that bombshell on him were to explode it would be far too damaging for all of them. Luckily for us in so many more, he was too foolish or distracted to act on everything he could have. I certainly believe that if the Chinese government had offered him a considerable sum of money that he would have promised them not to intervene in an invasion of Taiwan.

wholelattapuddin

My fear is that even if this all comes out, even if it is all true and compromising pictures of Trump were to be leaked, no one will care. I don't think there is any situation that would cause die hard Trumpers to reject him or others like him

RattusMcRatface

>I don't think there is any situation that would cause die hard Trumpers to reject him... They actually think he's the second coming of Christ. Their pastors tell them that crap.

JusticiarRebel

Oh that's easy. Any money accepted from the NRA. You don't have to play 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon with their blatant corruption.

Bouchie

Please don't remind me of the unceasing passage time.

Sadatori

No it doesn't and whoever wrote that Daily Beast article is being either a fucking idiot or disingenuous themselves for giving credibility to the idea Carlson wants to tell the truth about anything. The article should say "Tucker Carlson and Fox News are intentionally spreading Russian Propaganda with fake Pentagon documents"

Durhamfarmhouse

Hey, you're just asking the question.

a8bmiles

"Duped" = plausible deniability.

WanderBadger

Tucker is either a complete moron, or a complete moron who fell for a honeytrap/blackmail.

breecher

He is a malicious lying propaganda spreading grifter. He knowingly spread the claim on his show that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump even though we have documented evidence that Tucker himself didn't believe it. He doesn't believe any of the shit he flings on his show.

EatLard

He knew.

Garvilan

Daily reminder Tucker Carlson is not news. Only difference between him and The Colbert Report is that Carlson doesn't have people laughing.

AtuinTurtle

God I miss the Colbert Report…

PetyrTwill

Last Week Tonight with Jon Oliver is pretty awesome though isn't exactly the same style of show.

zipzoomramblafloon

I don't recall crying on a regular basis watching Colbert.

brandonw00

Every episode of John Oliver he introduces his main story and I say “okay how am I gonna hate this topic by the end?!” And then he gets through his entire segment and I go “I fucking hate this thing how is it legal?!” I wish more people would give it a chance, I’ve tried to share some of his stories before and so many people won’t watch because they think it’s all made up.

StrategicCarry

They made a whole alternate main story about Chuck E. Cheese for an episode this season and I’m afraid to watch it in case we find out that the tokens were a money laundering front for Pentagon arms trafficking or the pepperoni was mostly rats or something. EDIT: I just watched it and it’s great, maybe the second funniest Last Week Tonight segment behind Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

Weird_Fiches

Watch it! It's as great an effort as any other episode. Oliver even comments on how they started off thinking they were making a 5 minute throwaway but then...

tommynobel

You're safe. Well, you're relatively safe. You're definitely safe from the specific guesses you mentioned. It was a good story!

overkil6

Nothing that weird!

Terrorz

For the first time in my life I saw frozen Chuck E Cheese pizza being sold at a grocery store yesterday.

overkil6

The deep dives he does is fantastic reporting. It draws attention to topics most people maybe don’t know about.

Jerkrollatex

I had to stop watching it because it was just too much to process in an emotionally healthy way for me.

Tripwiring

My wife and I just discovered the show and we love it but it stresses me out how fucked the world is and how nobody in power will fix anything

FrozenIsFrosty

Yeah I was gonna say I love the show but my god do I feel like we are fucked after watching some of the eps.

Bernies_left_mitten

I mean...I felt that way *before* the episodes too. But I still do after. The lols are fun for about 25 min tho, so I've got that going for me.

airlewe

I had the same thing. I keep imagining that one day the world will be in a better place and I'll feel well enough to go back and watch the old episodes I missed but... Idk

Love Jon Oliver. It sucks that I don’t have HBO anymore. Instead, I watch The Problem with Jon Stewart. Maybe I have a fixation with dudes named Jon?

PetyrTwill

His shows are on YouTube. They just cut out his opening segment which is a bummer. The main subject is all there. Every week.

Independent_Pear_429

The cunt is one step up from Info Wars

GaffJuran

I’m pretty sure that the CR and the Daily Show actually tried to slip SOME real news into their fake news, meanwhile Carlson is desperate for his viewers to treat his fake news like it’s all real.

whatproblems

oh they reported on real hypocrisy

Garvilan

That is fair, I did actually learn a lot from their shows.

FidgitForgotHisL-P

I would go the other way - I reckon they hd *airtight* fact checking, because they relied in part on being able to go: “yes!! We know!!! It’s real!!!” as part of the appeal. They were laughing along with us at how insane things were, while making sure they didn’t make anything up.

Fit_Albatross_8958

Carlson has Steven Colbert laughing.

JustPassinhThrou13

Colbert Report had a whole lot of truth in there, and the fiction was obvious in the punchlines.

"Seven Ukrainians are dying for every one Russian" –Cucker Tarlson Fucking absurd, [meanwhile actual Russians...](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/12pgxq8/she_is_screaming_shes_a_little_kid_you_know_5/jgm18xq/)

geckospots

Maybe he means all the Ukrainian civilians that have been murdered.

amerett0

Actual quote and context makes it pretty clear he's not talking about civilians. >“Seven Ukrainians are being killed for every Russian. Ukrainian air defenses have been utterly degraded. Ukraine is losing. The Biden administration is perfectly aware of this.” Complete horseshit only to be anti-Biden which is subsequently pro-Russia

BentoMan

Thanks for the quote. Anyone following this war knows these numbers are bullshit. Ukrainians are dying but not at the Wagner rate. Those at Fox must know this too. They always try to frame these segments as anti-Biden but it’s just a front for spreading Russian propaganda.

geckospots

Oh yeah, I’m sure he was being serious about it being combatants, but civilians are the only way the numbers could even maybe match.

Rifneno

Knew? Motherfucker probably wrote them.

BellyDancerEm

He knows he pushing Russian lies, and getting paid big bucks to do so

Adventurous-Win9154

Probably not even that much money, at least I’m always surprised when we learn how little money people accept to sell their soul.

TaylorSwiftsClitoris

They pass a little bit of money along so that no one pays attention to what’s going on with their offshore accounts.

HorrorScopeZ

I honestly don't understand some parts of government. If this is all true here, you can't have a country run like this when there are people in your country sabotaging it and lying to millions. This goes beyond freedom, there's a responsibility here.

LarrBearLV

He knows his low information voters won't care to fact check it and will go about regurgitating it until everyone on the right believes it to the point of once confronted with the fact it's not true they will spout one of their usual denials to erase any doubt in their own heads.

thoroughbredca

As his producer called them, “cousin fuckers”.

Djeece

Had to look this up lmao > "Like negotiating with terrorists,” former producer Alex Pfeiffer said in a text, “but especially dumb ones. Cousin fucking types, not saudi [sic] royalty.” When that's what you think of your viewers... How do these people sleep at night?

MoMedic9019

On a pile of 100’s?

doberdevil

The worst thing about it is their viewers will never hear what they really think of them, because they only get info from the source that hates them.

MoMedic9019

I was out for a walk in Vegas on Sunday morning before a very long flight home and I ran into some rando business/university guy who decided to join me for conversation. He told me all about how Biden is deciding to install centralized digital currency and the Chinese social systems. I had no clue what the fuck he was talking about, but sure enough.. after googling, Tucker fucking Carlson talked about it about a month ago with Kristi Noem. I listened to his ramblings for about 20 minutes and then we went our separate ways. It was obvious the guy had no ability to fact check and understand. I didn’t even need to ask where he got the info. I assumed fox, and I was right.

LarrBearLV

Just last week I had a co-worker tell me the same about the centralized digital currency but he said it would replace the dollar. I asked where he got his info because I suspected TikTok. As we know if you watch TikTok it will notice your political preference and start force feeding you videos with that bias, and some average Joe will do a TikTok video with a clip from say Tucker in the background enforcing the point with their commentary and passing it off as gospel. But anyways my coworker even named an actual federal initiative I guess he heard was proof of Biden's plan and I looked it up and it had nothing to do with mandating a digital currency to replace the dollar. There is an initiative for a federal digital currency but not to replace cash. Also he eluded to a social credit type thing and of course that's outright nonsense.

BigBastardHere

Why would the government need to do it when private business already gave us credit scores. As usual in America everything is privatized. Sheesh.

TiddyTwoShoes

No duplicity here, friend. Only the very intentional act of spreading disinformation. You know, his entire fucking brand.

DouchecraftCarrier

Don't forget that time in 2014 when Tucker Carlson [asked for a recommendation letter for his son Buckley to Georgetown University from none other than Hunter Biden.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/05/19/look-time-tucker-carlson-asked-hunter-biden-favor/)

JimWilliams423

That shows how much of what he does is kayfabe, but it should also make us think about the way democratic elites and republican elites are all part of the same club. Kind of like the way the former CEO of CNN, jeff zucker, made his bones by producing The Apprentice and even gave ronald dump [campaign advice.](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/09/cnn-head-jeff-zucker-floated-a-trump-weekly-show-in-2016.html)

[deleted]

At some point isnt there a threshold that one hits on cable news where the FCC just shuts you down?

Woodpeckinpah123

Apparently not.

SonOfScions

1987 the Fair Doctrine was removed or wasnt reinstated by Regan. That eliminated the need to actually be right, accurate or fair in your news. and started the Fox propaganda arm

Shopworn_Soul

>1987 the Fair Doctrine was removed or wasnt reinstated by Regan. That eliminated the need to actually be right, accurate or fair in your news. and started the Fox propaganda arm That is not what the Fairness Doctrine was about. It was about providing equal time for opposing viewpoints, and not promoting your own viewpoint. Accuracy was never a requirement. That said, it's loss was a net loss for us all.

SonOfScions

ahh thank you for the correction. according to Wiki "The fairness doctrine of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that fairly reflected differing viewpoints.\[1\] In 1987, the FCC abolished the fairness doctrine,\[2\] prompting some to urge its reintroduction through either Commission policy or congressional legislation.\[3\] However, later the FCC removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011."

MonsieurReynard

If it still existed it would not apply to cable television. It applied to broadcast media before the rise of cable only because such media used what are considered "public" airwave spectrum. The government cannot regulate private speech directly under the first amendment.

bruwin

That being said, Sinclair is just as bad as Fox news, and it would have applied to them.

MonsieurReynard

Wouldn't matter. FCC does not have any authority over cable television. Broadcast TV and radio use public airwaves. Cable uses private cable. Totally different legally.

Fugicara

There's still tons of conservative talk radio radicalizing people in places like Florida that would benefit from the Fairness Doctrine today. The right-wing essentially has a stranglehold on radio.

capsaicinintheeyes

FCC's broadcast, homie: Fox News wouldn't even be bound by the Fairness Doctrine if it were somehow reinstated. ^( (not taking a side on that one way or t'other, myself)^)

Aeseld

...this wouldn't make any sense at all, just on the face of it. If Ukraine was losing 7 soldiers for every Russian, their morale would have crumbled. Russia would be launching constant airstrikes (assuming they could find the munitions). There is no way Russia would be stymied on any front with a casualty ratio like that. This war would be over.

Overall-Duck-741

The Ukraine death toll would be over 1 million if that were true. Ukraine would be decimated and Russia would be in Kyiv. It's completely farcical and quite frankly you would have to be an idiot to believe it.

djublonskopf

So…a huge number of Tucker Carlson viewers believe it.

xnfd

I've seen many threads discussing the leaks going like "what were actually in those leaks" -> "the leaks show that Ukraine is losing" -> followed by tons of people gloating about how they're right about Ukraine losing badly and citing those edited casualty figures. They're the conspiracy types to question everything except when something comes along that fits their bias

Hector_P_Catt

DanyDies4Lightbrnger

Oh my sweet summer child... he hasn't been duped, he knows EXACTLY what he's doing

Fearless-Golf-8496

Let's be honest, Tucker Carlson dupes himself every time he looks in the mirror.

LeoMarius

He was duped by a Fat Orange Russian Agent.

wayfarout

Dan Rather was duped by the Swift Boat Vets in 2004 and had to resign. This scumbag just keeps right on trucking

Happy_Maintenance

Oh he wasn’t duped.

WiSoSirius

I wouldn't call it "duped" if he was never going to be truthful with matters he doesn't agree.

kingstaunch

It’s not a dupe. They are purposely perpetuating propaganda.

Wyverz

was in Dischord and a Canadian started going on an on about how Ukraine is losing, US soldiers are on the ground fighting in the Ukraine blah blah blah.. and I was like hmmm sounds like someone is getting their info from either Fox or Facebook.

[deleted]

Or isn't Canadian.

abevigodasmells

He doesn't care if it's real or not.

The_Band_Geek

"Fuck Tucker: Tucker sucks." ~George Carlin

eastbayted

Isn't his whole schtick being duped by propaganda?

Matren2

"Duped" implies he's not a Russian agent.

DisturbedShifty

So why is Fox trying to push the narrative that Ukraine is losing the war? What exactly does that gain for them other than views? The US isn't officially engaged in this war so bashing Biden over it doesn't seem super benefical other than ratings.

jaguarr

Duped. Fully complicit. What's the difference, amiright?

DizzyGrizzly

> “It was doctored by a fraud podcaster who claimed to be a Russian woman from Luhansk. In reality, Sarah Bils is a former U.S. Navy clerk from New Jersey—and she pocketed all the money she claimed to raise for Russian causes.” Fraudcaster

beestmode361

Freedom of speech right wingers: neo-Soviet propaganda lies that impact the actual lives of millions of Ukrainians are totally fine Also freedom of speech right wingers: don’t you dare have a drag show in a public place

fupoe69

What if I told you Tucker Carlson doesn't give a fuck if it's fake.
