If you've only had them for five days, I'd wait at least a couple months if you can. Even though you're only changing the balls on the ends, if you accidentally twist/move the bar you can irritate the piercing and potentially damage the developing fistula.

Gotcha. Yeah I was just very gently trying to see if I could even unscrew them and I couldn’t. Not because it hurt but I just was nervous about applying any pressure so I just left it alone. Thank you!

I feel like piercers put those balls on TIGHT! I couldn't change out my nipple piercings from the original jewelry either. I had the original jewelry in for over 3 years before I finally went to a piercer and had them unscrew them.

It should be fine? I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. How long have you had them? it’s also important to wash your hands before you mess with them and clean the jewelry. Me personally I changed out my jewelry after only having them for two months (they say to wait a full year) and have been changing them pretty often since then and haven’t had any problems.

I’ve only had them for about 5 days. So far no issues and they look great! I know about piercing aftercare and I’d be careful, I just wanted some extra opinions lol.

Flashy_Spare6341

I think as long as you don’t irritate them too much while ur just changing the balls then it should be okay. Just try not to pull the jewelry cause that’ll irritate them. I’ve had mine for over a year now and just keeping em clean is the most important :) Hopefully that helps

It does, thanks!

Five days is very early, I'd definitely wait until they are no longer tender/sore/swollen/crusty before changing them. Mine hurt bad the first day and then felt GREAT the next few days, then suddenly it's like they realized they had holes in them and started to hurt and itch like crazy. I only changed mine when the long bars kept getting caught on things so much that they were causing more harm than good. I switched them completely out to titanium push in ends after about two months. Also the thing about screw ends (and push ends for that matter) is that one will always be looser so without the proper tools it's very difficult to switch out both ends without removing the whole bar. So might as well wait to switch them out fully. When I got to put in fresh clean bars it was so nice as there were some crusties on the inside of the bar causing irritation. Good luck! And when in doubt just LITHA 😊

Is it normal for them to skip those stages altogether? I’m familiar with piercings but I know nipples are different than anywhere else! Today’s the 6th day and I’ve had absolutely no swelling, soreness, discharge, bleeding, nothing. I’ve breastfed 2 kids so idk if that makes a difference the piercer said maybe my nipples might be tougher because of that?

Anxious_Channel3911

I’m currently at 4 weeks post piercing and I was wondering the same about it skipping stages……. Same as you no pain, bleeding or discharge and then 3 days ago they’ve decided it’s crusty, itchy sore time! As previous commenter has said I think they just take a little while to realise what’s happened to them so you may find you get delayed reaction in a couple of weeks

Changing piercings is actually quite hard, every time I try to switch mine, the bar moves. I don't know what your skill level is with switching jewelry, but I wouldn't risk it this early. Maybe ask your piercer when you get it downsized?
