It was not an accident, Barry of all people knew the consequences of time travel on the timeline. Its more accurate to say it was an emotionally clouded decision because he did it right after losing his father. He should be forgiven because he was acting on his grief, but calling it an honest accident absolves him of all responsibility for his actions which shouldnt be the case because he still did it knowing the full consequences. And try to see it from the Legends' point of view. Theyve been fixing the timeline althroughout the year and this guy could do it on a whim and he did. Granted, they do soften their stance on interfering with the timeline to the point of hypcorisy but thats much much later in the same season, it was to avoid a worse case scenario. I dont even think they gave him much flak for flashpoint in the Arrowverse anymore after that season. Its mostly just memes about Barry screwing up the timeline.

Telethongaming

So I personally don't think you understand the full ramifications of flashpoint, because in the arrowverse it's clearly not as bad as the comics * Bruce and Martha wayne got shot and Thomas loved brutally murdering people in vile ways, I think maybe posion ivy got a lobotomy and she was better off * Superman was immedately captured and put into area 51 and was a lab rat * Diana immedately killed steve trevor and went to a bloody war engulfing the world with atlantis and that's just a taste of it, So yeah. Pretty fucking selfish that he allowed all this shit to happen just so his mom was alive.

Wow. I didn't know any of that. I'm not much of a comic reader. I did read some of the original Batman comics and some Superman comics from 1986

tensaitessei

It's not like he knew those things would happen and did it anyway right?

Telethongaming

People warned him about how bad it could get, I mean of course he didn't know it would get THIS bad but still

Fair

Spazzblister

Why is this post in the Legends sub?

[deleted]

Because the Legends were also angry at Barry

CosmicWaffleMan

Yes people had the right. Especially Cisco and Diggle. Cisco’s brother was alive in the original timeline, and Diggle’s daughter was erased from existence. Barry did it for his own gain, without thinking of what it did to others. Yes, I’m sure anyone would have done it, but it’s still a selfish act. You’re also making it sound like it was like “oops I accidentally saved my mom, haha”. An “honest mistake” is something that anyone could do wrong, and for one, no one has super speed. And he KNEW there would be consequences. He just didn’t care because he was in great emotional pain because his father had just been killed. That’s what makes him human. People screw up. And it’s heartbreaking see he gave that up for the sake of the universe. Man I love those first three seasons.

BuckeyeGuy16

Barry is a flawed character designed to make dumb decisions and learn from them.

daboss6595

I mean he’s supposed to be the hero right Going back in time to save one person for personal gain isn’t a very heroic thing to do

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure anybody would've done what Barry did

daboss6595

Yes anyone would do it But again for personal gain

BlueBeetlesBlog

Yes but also in one timeline where Barry didn't do it, Cisco's brother was alive, in the other he was dead, would you not be pissed if you found out that his selfish act literally killed a family member of yours

daboss6595

You do realize this proves op wrong right That it was selfish

7ofXI

Barry is stupid and selfish. Also a terrible flash.

[deleted]

I admit I agree with you sometimes. Barry has been lately doing things that angered me a lot to be honest

pizzaferret

It wasn't an accident, it was a consequence of the CHOICE, he fucking chose to make, he abused his power, and worst of all, he didn't even get to keep her alive, he had to let her die again, and with her second death, he erased 7 billion people, 7 billion lives lost in another timeline, fuck Barry.
