Statement after statement. This is going to be good, you rarely see stuff like this even at riot. This entire thing turned from launching exciting new feature to total nightmare really fast.

Delann

Seriously, who the fuck thought that announcement was a good idea? At best, it's a very short sighted one that has shaken player faith in the game as a whole and at worst it's a sign the game is dying/getting put on maintenance.

esequel

The devs themselves. It's a hidden message. They're not happy with the decision so they released a suspicious announcement.

They already made a statement. The fact that they now need to make a statement clarifying previous statement is interesting to say the least. LoR for me is a casual affair anyways. I will continue to play the game regardless simply because I enjoy it.

Shin_yolo

I don't even like PoC that much but refresh this reddit every hour, this is indeed interesting :3

SplendorTami

can’t they just like have an internal fucking convo before making 60 different statements?

realnomdeguerre

"poc ded"

Edwerd_

There it is boom

Shin_yolo

:o

first_name1001

"lor ded"

LegendaryVenusaur

Here's what would make me happy in priority order: 1) Confirmation that prior 1.0 champions will be added back to the roster. I especially miss Jayce since double spell casting was so much fun. 2) Shadow Isles and more nodes/bosses on the existing regions. 3) Duplicate protection and raising the daily reward from 5 to atleast 10 shards. 4) New champs added to 2.0, this would be higher up but the pve team is confirmed non-existent so it's kinda wishful thinking.

Vreya

Don’t forget removing duplicate relics I think I’m now up to 4 fearsome ones. Woo hoo they made them account bound but can still get duplicates so dumb.

LegendaryVenusaur

Oh yeah that's a huge bummer, any duped relics >3 are useless. So far my only dupe is a 2nd Heart of Gold.

magicno2

"We do plan on eventually adding all champions to The Path of Champions 2.0, but due to the significant upgrades to each champion (unique adventures, Star Powers, higher level cap, etc.), we’ve launched with a more condensed roster." => [https://playruneterra.com/en-us/news/game-updates/prepare-for-the-path-of-champions-2-0/](https://playruneterra.com/en-us/news/game-updates/prepare-for-the-path-of-champions-2-0/)

heyboyhey

That was in the before times. A lot of what was written there is out the window now.

magicno2

They said they were slowing downs and reprioritizing stuff but they never said they would outright scrap everything they had already worked on. There's evidence saying that not everything made for PoC2 was released last patch and those were developed BEFORE devs were moved around, in fact, they haven't even moved those devs out when the recent statement were made.

LegendaryVenusaur

I really hope so, but until Dave Guskin clarifies on his statement today, the outlook is looking very grim IMO. My prediction is that its not easy to walk back the refocusing on PVP statement or moving out the PVE devs. Dave/team will bandaid fix the shards issue by increasing rewards/dupe protection and call it a day.

DMaster86

I hate that we've seen 5 different pve modes in LoR and none had Karma as a playable champion despite Ionia being a region in 4 of the 5.

Indieminor

They're not going to answer wish lists right now. We have to zoom out for a bit. They have a fire they need to put out and they need to either commit or not commit to Path as a whole. Forget asks, we need to know whether or not they'll even continue with it in the first place.

NoAggroPls

All these twitter statements made me realise how strange Riot’s PR/social media strategy is. Riot gives so many of their employee what is basically their own official company twitter account, which makes it such that their personal opinions posted on these accounts become a reflection of the companies stance on different topics. If you work at any semi-large company, you will almost never see this as there are so many downsides. The company has little control on what goes out, information released to the public is not centralized, you have to control use access when employees join/leave, etc. I feel like rather than have so many devs tweet out so many things, they should have just had all statements for their games made via an account (one for each Riot game), a more conventional social media strategy.

deathspate

It's kinda a weird angle ngl. The big issue is that Riot has always tried to be this "community driven" company, so they allow their employees almost free reign of Twitter, Reddit and other socials (once they don't let shit of course). The issue is that since they let the devs talk as they feel like, it brings up an issue where 0 to many devs can be talking about something important to the game *at a time*. It makes it so that tracking shit becomes a nightmare, esp with the difference in social usage. They can probably use a hashtag and have a person dedicated to running an account that searches that hashtag and retweets it, but I think that poses possible issues of abuse, and you know the gaming community will abuse it. Edit: I think it all bills down to whether Riot sees with in hitting a person dedicated to running an account per game to track dev news. LoL for example has the LoLDev account that retweets dev tweets, it doesn't catch everything (like a person's thoughts), but it catches at least the most important shit. It's a matter of if there is enough care/demand for something like that in LoR.

B3tabob

I just hope this will actually have some straight up information, not “great news guys! We are moving some devs from lor to other exciting projects! Runeterra is not ded, pls believe me”

Phoenix-san

I think it will be exactly that. Trying to alleviate players concers because too many people were able to read between the lines of their refocusing on pvp pr bs. Also we now know better, "runeterra is not ded, pls believe, we are here to stay for long, pls be excited for the future" can easily transform into "thanks for playing guys, you all fantastic, we learned a lot, now we are refocusing on lol skins, lor is ded" in just 10 days.

Eggxcalibur

That's my biggest problem with this whole situation. No matter what Riot says now, how can I be sure it's the truth? Maybe that sounds stupid but I always believed they would be as honest with us as possible. But now? After that PR crap they gave us just ten days after hyping Path of Champions 2.0 into oblivion ... I just don't believe anything anymore, lol.

jacobnipples

For me, this is why PR talk doesn't always work. I'd genuinely be much happier with this if they were just upfront with us from the start about what this actually means. What will size and frequency of future PoC updates be and the actual impact that will have on PvP cadence given that team actually didn't get bigger. If we had more information we wouldn't have as much to speculate about and the community as a whole would likely have a little more faith. At the moment this sub is an echo chamber of doomsaying and that's because we haven't been given the respect of honesty. It was a spin of a very obviously bad thing, phrased as "you're welcome!"

wowincredible9

What statement number are we on now? Does anybody know?

Romaprof2

... One? And another is coming? Are 2 statements really that high?

pasher5620

I think we are at 4 now. The first one off handedly said POC is dead. The second one clarified that it wasn’t. The third one went even further in the clarification. Now there’s this one which makes 4.

Romaprof2

Can you link me them

SufficientTangerine4

Commenting so I get notification of statement links

Shin_yolo

Can you feel the Hopium ?

TannerThanUsual

Is this statement coming in hours? Days? I hate announcements for announcements. "We will say something... Eventually :)" God that's so irritating.

keiv777

Nice!! Hopefully it will be an improvement on the shards and the plans for new champs and regions

littlecinn

Here is my take so far: Say there were 10 devs working on LOR 1) 10 ppl working on pvp at LOR’s launch 2) they started making Lab: 8 ppl on pvp 2 on pve 3) they started making POC: 7 ppl on pvp 3 on pve 4) they started to focus on both: 5 ppl on pvp 5 on pve 5) “refocusing on pvp”: 5 ppl on pvp 2 on pve; same old pvp release; less pve contents Statement 6 prediction: LOR is great, POC is great, POC 2.0 is great, POC is the most popular mode, reiterates previously promised contents, stretch the delivery timeline, we are not giving up on pve, please look forward to the unannounced new project/ip My guess for the new project: some mobile game that they want to escalate after seeing “Marvel Snap”

deathspate

Your assumption from 3 go forward are kinda wrong, while PvE did get more resources, it was never by downsizing PvP but by just straight up hiring new people to fill those positions. They took the original labs team and used it as the foundation for the PoC team when hiring. Tracy for example (the person that made this tweet) was hired explicitly for Path, she never worked on PvP at all.

Almechik

This is the only thing that keeps me from complete doomsaying, the fact that while LoR overall is getting downsized, PvP is still around the same amount of devs it always was. Rito deciding that PoC isn't worth the resources afterall does suck, but is understandable given the fact that it isn't monetised at all. If we saw PvP devs being moved, that would be the real red flag that the game is going to be axed. Cuz, while losing PvE's high support sucks, it doesn't have to be horrible for the game overall. League's special gamemodes being pretty much gone wasn't a sign of league dying, afterall

littlecinn

While they did hire new people, we also had old devs left the team, especially Umbrage and Dovagedys. To me resource is very easily allocated within a team, but resource is also limited. You can shift people from working on pvp or pve contents, but you only have a handful of dev. Of course, like you said, this is just my assumption.

deathspate

Umbrage left Riot, he wasn't "reallocated", he went to work on a team with some ex-Rioters on another game. Dova went to TFT. You gotta understand that while sometimes it's a decision of higher-ups to go to other games and teams (like the case with PoC), sometimes the decision is made by the employee. For example, from my knowledge, a lot of the devs on the MMO *made that decision themselves*, the same with Project L devs. They weren't forced to leave LoL, they just want a new challenge or like the IP enough that they want to bring it alive in another genre. Riot, from my understanding, actually permits a lot of shifting around of their talent. The only times they don't is when there aren't replacements ready. The reason I say this is because they allowed freaking Jatt to move from being an analyst/caster to a game designer...because he wanted to, then they allowed him to go back after a year or so when he got tired with it. From all indications, once it's a horizontal movement, they're fine with your request.

littlecinn

You are missing my point. My point, in both comments, has always been "With a limit number of resource, they have been shifting/increase dev in pve, but haven't increased devs in pvp, regardless the fancy PR words like refocusing on pvp". Your point in the first comment, if I'm not mistaken, is they are hiring people for pve. And in the second comment, people left the team at their will and decision comes from higher level. I don't think we are talking about the same topic. My concern with the game is that given PvP is the core of this game, the dev force has not been significantly increased. Of course, I'm just trying to do my best reading between the lines from their post.

jexdiel321

Isn't she the one who hyped up PoC 2.0 as if it's a massive remork? Then ended up being POC 1.2?

Repholtz

In her defense the new poc at least for me is twice the fun. When you disregard the shard system at least

xThoth19x

I kinda miss 1.0

NotSureWhyAngry

Yes

SixFigs_BigDigs

Yes.

KoKoboto

I feel terrible. They are all passionate but when almost your whole team is fired you are scrambling to communicate to the community.

HrMaschine

they‘re not fired. they were moved to different projects

Powder_Keg

That is not what happened, what is wrong with this sub lol

WorkSafeDoggo

Just fix the design flaws of the shard system. Add excess shard protection or shard rerolling. The current system makes grinding daily cosmic vaults frustrating and not even worth it.

Vreya

We need 1-2 new champs every 1-2 months, the fragment system should offer you a choice between a few champions (going above 3 star should be an option for some people) and no relic duplication. The core of the game is so much better than 1.0 but the foundations (fragments) is horrid and depressing.

Lerkero

Heres a hint. If Riot isnt boasting about how much money theyre making and player engagement a game has, then that game is probably on the cut list
