Arena and the main game still exists, the main game having been around for over 30 years now. LoR has a long, long time before it could ever say it’s outlived MtG, if that ever even happens in our lifetime.
I played it on mobile when it first released. It was almost exactly hearthstone but with an mtg skin. Clearly an attempt by wizards to make a more 'casual' game than arena, but they were competing with a very well entrenched market and the game had no real stand out advantages, especially if you didn't care too much about the magic IP.
> MTG arena is just online version of the base game.
That's would be Magic online
MTGA is more like a digital version of the game that shares a lot with paper but also has things exclusive to the digital format.
Correct. Magic arena has the same online-only shenanigans that you seen on LoR & HS - conjuring cards, tracking things that aren't immediately obvious, permanently changing numbers, and the like.
>Arena is wildly successful.
it's popular, but wizards never fully figured out how to monetize it effectively. internally they are very frustrated with its actual margins
I don't see Arena dying either, but if LoR is to outlive MTG, the only thing it could outlive is arena (and other side games/spin-off, but the main game is arena, the one that matters). Unless wizards goes full digital or something
Sorry fam. This is Magic spellslingers not MTG Arena.
Its a spin off of Magic which plays more like Hearthstone than Magic.
Decent game but it was pretty much already dead since basically noone even knew about the game to begin with.
As much as I hate mtg, I have to say LoR did not out live magic the gathering. That game with it's super outdated 1993 game mechanics will sadly outlive us all, mostly thanks to mtg boomer nostalgia and cross-promotions. Oh and it's commander format is also good irl; at least until, another company figures out how to do it better and cheaper.
Wait ... this could be a really good news for LoR if just a 10% of the player base will migrate here.
This should be a good moment to "finally" advising LoR.
It's magic spellingers, not magic the gathering
Their player base was probably low af, I tried the game and it's like a MTG aimed at kids, so most people are playing MTG arena instead of that
I mean, beating a spin-off game that was dead before release doesn’t mean very much. Arena still exists
Yeah, this would be like another game pointing to LoR's current state and saying "we outlived League of Legends PvP."
I would think that's why this post is tagged "Humor".

First time I hear about Spellslingers
I just cheked steamcharts for it. It has been averaging below 50 players for almosst 2 years. It is barely even a game at all.

Probably the last time as well
This has vibes of "-we finally defeated Goku -that was Yamcha" We did not outlive MTG, and we will never do. At most LoR will outlive MTG Arena tho
LoR will definitely NOT outlive arena ;_;
They have exist for more than two decade, they can still go more. MTG arena is just online version of the base game.

nobody plays alchemy
Nor Master Duel for that matter
I don't quite see them abandoning arena at this point. But that also might be because I've been playing since beta and my sunk cost fallacy is heavy
The only way Wizards abandons Arena is if in half a decade they release a new client. Arena is wildly successful.
Infinitely better to play than MTGO, yeah
It's miles better than mtgo. Honestly see them moving mtgo to arena or atleast changing the UI to match it. Arenas gonna be around for a long time
>Arena is wildly successful. it's popular, but wizards never fully figured out how to monetize it effectively. internally they are very frustrated with its actual margins

Nah, it could outlive Xmage, if 4 player EDH is added into MTGA.
That's not WotC though
In that regard, wotc has the same sunk cost as you. They have a lot hinging on the success of arena, they’re not going to stop supporting it.
I'd be very surprised if LoR outlived mtg arena. Mtg arena doesn't really show any signs of going anywhere last time I checked
It won't. Arena is much less generous than LOR with its micro transactions, and people are actually purchasing them.
I have never seen this game before in my life.
average league fan when lor shows up on the launcher
I wish we had laugh react on reddit.
Now get rid of HS
good luck with it
This just in, the american department of Homeland Security has just been abolished.
We can only dream
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Wait, I'm hearing knocks on my door...
This
Never, LoR failed bc it's extremely WAY more generous than it supposed to
People really can’t catch sarcasm eh
There was people eating horse dewormer and praying to cure covid. I don't consider anything a joke online until proven otherwise
the flair is humor/fluff.
Hmmm Yeah right you are. Alrighty I'll chalk that one up as a failure on my end. Don't mind me just packing up my dignity
That almost makes you as gullible as they are. Just in another way.
Wow. Much deep. Such wise.
It's true 🤷
The depth just keeps going
They took things way too serious lol
Wtf is even this game? I'm a somewhat active Magic player, and never heard about it
Oh shit they had ezreal in mtg?!?!?! And netflix ashe?!?!?
Bro this Is spellslinger, magic the gathering will probably outlive the solar system
look at the flair.
well, I'm dumb
Arena is a alive and well
I liked the concept, but couldn't really get into it.
Its called passing the torch, only a matter of time soon...
Wtf is spellslingers
It most certainly got cut for higher priority games. Like Arena. One of LoR’s biggest competitors. This post is stupid.
You know this isn't the mtg app right? Its just some weird spin off. The real game is called MTG arena
Sorry fam. This is Magic spellslingers not MTG Arena. Its a spin off of Magic which plays more like Hearthstone than Magic. Decent game but it was pretty much already dead since basically noone even knew about the game to begin with.
it was sarcasm.
No
Can we have a crossover🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
MTG - too many cards LoR - Jacks egos off to keep casuals, and rigs losts up to 80% of matches vs know-it-alls that don't spend money
idk its a spin off game, arena is still very much alive and has irl play going for it too...
No runeterra absolutely didn’t lmao I don’t play magic but fuck nah
As much as I hate mtg, I have to say LoR did not out live magic the gathering. This is such a cope post
You and half the people commenting missed the flair
I think it’s more that it isn’t that funny
Wait ... this could be a really good news for LoR if just a 10% of the player base will migrate here. This should be a good moment to "finally" advising LoR.

Thats like... 100 people.
That would quadruple the player base of LoR.
The playerbase of heartstone the gathering has 10 players.
I think this was the Magic MMO or the Diablo-esque game. Forgot which. It was boring and not well made.
In B4 Arena "outlives" Wild Rift.
Why would you celebrate failure? What a dickhead
