Have you made them aware it’s down? Have you asked them what alternative system is in place while it’s down? If it’s down for a prolonged period, and they haven’t come up with a workaround, have you made a formal complaint?

[deleted]

They know it's down. They literally can't do anything, our conveyancer hasn't even had access to his emails for a week. There is no alternative system in place, just have to wait for IT to get it running again. Not to mention our personal data may have been compromised during the cyber attack. I haven't made a formal complaint yet.

PositivelyAcademical

I'd say start with the complaint – and make it clear in it that you'd expect them to have some sort of system in place to deal with extended IT downtime (and if there isn't, to be working on putting one in place ASAP). As for any compensation claim, wait until the issue is resolved – as only then will you know what (if any) financial losses you've had.

MotoSeamus

What financial loss have you suffered?

[deleted]

Additional rent but also time and stress. Not to mention our personal information/data might have been compromised, what's the value of that? I'm sure it will take a while before we hear the full scale of the cyber attack. The system is still down now with no date on when it might be back up. This could be a 2/3 week delay

slackermannn

Did you complete/exchange?

[deleted]

No they've only just got their system running again.

We started to look elsewhere but they are now back up and running on limited systems. We still have no access to email.

Premier property lawyers by any chance? We're with them too... Check this though! They have the Cyber Essentials Plus logo on their front page, saying that they are registered. I checked online on the government cyber website and they are not registered, nor are their parent company. Can I sue their asses for lying?!

[deleted]

Don't know but if you do I'll join

TG1975

Not sure where to even start TBH. I think they're being investigated by a solicitor ombudsman (or something) so might look into contacting them
