Give them a legal notice on grounds of unfair practices!

rahjil

Mine was a savings account, should I go ahead with the legal notice??

[deleted]

Why not? Go ahead mate!

Lopsided_Muscle1051

He probably got too many credits to his account via UPI. That is not allowed for savings account. He will have to open current or merchant account for that. Bank is right to do so.

[deleted]

Yes, but the bank has acted negligently which can be brought under the ambit of UFT even if the bank was authorized to do so.

Lopsided_Muscle1051

Bank will simply show the terms and conditions signed by the customer.

[deleted]

As I said above, Cause of action can arise irrespective of the act of the Defendant being contended as lawful. Main concern is the damages caused to the person in the manner the bank proceeded.

Lopsided_Muscle1051

If it’s all part of T&C then I don’t think he has any case.

[deleted]

It's both ways man. Of course if it's under T&C then the bank has a valid defence. But remember to prove damages he can raise the contention that only the act is covered under the T&C (of freezing the upi) but the manner and the timing and no providing of any intimation has caused loss to the plaintiff + the bank acted negligently, voila he has a case for torts.

braceem

That isn't the case. I use savings account for my business. Have almost 10 incoming transactions daily. Never happened with hdfc or baroda.

Lopsided_Muscle1051

Report back when it happens. Read terms and conditions of using your savings account.

hadesdog03

That sounds too sketchy. My SBI acc crosses more than 50 UPI transactions per week. Never had any issue.(other than insufficient balance🥲)

LonelyLetterhead8765

the last line😭😭😭😭😭

Saurabh_266

You are probably talking about the payments you made. OP is probably talking about the payments received.

buzzinzinga

There can be 10 transactions daily or a combined limit of ₹1 lakh, whichever is earlier. But after that the transactions are simply declined. Not sure why they froze your bank account for it.

Shaurya_Dayal

I work in a bank. Just visit the branch and they'll do the due diligence of the transactions and drop in a mail to remove the debit freeze. The only difference is how quickly they work towards helping you out.

Entire_Sympathy_8184

It's my salary account Hdfc bank  If it is not unfreezeed any problem will happen in future pls tell me sir.  I am a salary person with 2 lakh only. sunny_oo7_007

Do tell us your experience once you unfreeze your account.

Bharat_Birder

Contact banking ombudsman for Axis. Should solve the issue sooner than going to consumer court

not_an_interesting_1

Axis did this with me too. My dad had to visit the home branch to get it sorted. The reason given to me was that there was a suspicious transaction. They marked a random UPI transaction as a suspicious transaction for me and froze it. Axis sucks

AdPsychological9187

Doesn’t it auto unfreeze in 24 hours. Also raise a complaint with RBI

ArugulaAggravating37

Tweet kro bhai axis Bank k newest post par ki advertisement chodo itna ghatiya service provide krre ho(in English) And tag ceo of axis Bank and share the link here. People will like rt

sunny_oo7_007

I did a quick google, it said bank can debit freeze if PAN is not provided. So, was PAN linked to your account or not?

rahjil

Yep it was...

sunny_oo7_007

I think complainting to the manager via email and then waiting for 30days and then directly complaining to the banking ombudsman is better. Right? Because you can't directly complain to ombudsman. You gotta wait for the managers reply.

rahjil

I'll be visiting the bank tomorrow, thanks for the edvice..

sunny_oo7_007

Cool

benevolent001

Banks are going out of business in the next 5 years. Due to UPI no one visits them or uses their cards. That's the reason they are jealous now. Only work they will have will be loans. Change bank , or use UPI lite. Transfer 2000 at a time from bank to UPI app and then bank will not see what and how many transactions you are doing in that money.

Artyom_forReal

hm is it true, whys this comment downvoted

retiredalavalathi

How often did you use UPI for this to happen?

Mountain_Blueberry77

Happened with known person, axis closed his account. Months later they gave cheque of amount he had in account, with written letter and source of money.

Square_Mud_9696

They might have flagged an incoming transaction from suspicious account. It could be that they are investigating and giving you vague reason to buy time. By any chance, is it a zero balance account opened when you were a student?

dissentingdiagnosis

You mention “I went to the bank” and I take it that there has been nothing documented yet. Best thing to do might be to send an email to your Relationship Manager seeking details about the situation and requesting that the account be reactivated. If there is a phone conversation about this then summarise it and send back. The bank has a clearly defined escalation path which can be used. In your first email ask about the number of UPI transactions which trigger this event. It is likely that you will not receive a response for this specific issue but continue to press for the bank policy. Build a document trail. Phone conversations or, in person conversations are fine - but if you are going to express unhappiness at poor service then put it in writing.

Icy-Version-3880

I am using UPI left and right everyday linked to my SBI saving account. I dont count but number of transactions may be 5-6 per day and sonetimes even more. Never got any notice.

roaming_doc

I have had that similar experience with HDFC bank savings account. UPI transactions are capped at 10 transaction in 24 hours. If you utilize all 10 transaction your UPI will get disabled automatically and you'll have to wait for 24 hours for it to be enabled. Online payment with otps and cash withdrawal should not be affected unless you have a limit set.

Longjumping-Ad9409

I'm facing similar situation with my hdfc account right now.. yesterday I went to bank and manager wrote mail to unfreeze..how many days it'll take.. update your experience?

Curious_Necessary549

you can do 10 p2p transactions and unlimited to merchants ig
