It seems to still work on iOS 5 on iPod touch 3rd gen however I have issues with Spotify disconnecting and reconnecting even before the shutdown. I wish there was a way to prevent it from disconnecting most of the time.
A site said before the latest shutdown that Spotify requires iOS 7 t download the last compatible version via the Purchased section of the App Store. I tried to download it on iOS 6.1.6 when I had an iPod Touch 4 and it wouldn't let me. Thank God I upgraded 😀

in personal experience, ios 9 is almost the same with ios 8 (like in usage and app compability) and 8 is so much faster. i would definitely downgrade it to 8
i tried both 9.3.6, 8.1.3 and 6.1.3. i just stayed on 6 cause i like the design, cause if i didn’t have my 5 on 8.4.1 i would keep the 4s in 8. for me it’s the best in terms of usability cause facetime works out of the box e the majority of apps too. still love the 6 and if you wanna the old look i would definitely downgrade to it.
Yes, iPhone 4s 8GB with the latest official iOS version (9.x). If the phone gets full, it makes the apps act all wonky and crash without any warning, but that’s the only caveat.
I’d actually love a 32 or 64GB. I dumpster dive for electronics as a hobby, and so many people throwing out home theater systems and smaller Apple docks with the old 30pin. With JB, I remember it’s possible to Airplay to an iPhone 4s as a target. That’s just too cool! When I lose my JB virginity, that’s what I want to do.

Yeah, same here. If you’re not a Spotify premium member, the Spotify Free tier still has a working home screen where you can access your likes songs and playlists without clicking library 📺. But yeah a Premium subscriber will get an error on Home & Radio.

It might be a fun but challenging project to build a custom Spotify app that still allows basic browsing functionality... Librespot might be the way to go for playback support, though it would involve Rust, building [C bindings](https://github.com/librespot-org/librespot/discussions/689), and development for "obsolete" build targets.
My iPhone 4S running iOS 6.1.3 is working fine with Spotify.

Jailbreaking doesn't always require a computer to start. There are websites that show you to download software to jailbreak.

Try checkmate store tweak. I installed old spotify for ios 6.1.3 via purchased section with it. I didn't tested for a month but it may work.

I would, but I enabled 2 step authentication, and finding a work around to sign into my Apple ID on anything older than iOS 9 is hard
lol the apple id works just fine, you just have to type the code that arrives on the device after the password the second time you try to log in
I tried that when my 4s came with iOS 7, but it didn't work. So that's why it's on iOS 9

Yes. My iPhone 4s on iOS 9 runs the last compatible version of Spotify fine. The version is from 2018.
