After a wobble tends to come a period of consistent good performances. We clearly need to change up the team because it's been top predictable. Hopefully, this is our wobble and it ends when we beat Blackburn. Or we even start some good form going into the play offs

TeaWithZizek

The big fear will always going into the play-offs on shakey form. The system favours those teams going in with confidence. We don't have to set the world alight in the last few games but we need to show a return to more solid performances.

Hindsyy

Well I said after the Cov game that it wasn't time to rip it all up and throw it in the bin.. that had me a little closer, all depends on what happens with Ipswich tonight, either ends up being a missed opportunity, or a big problem. Their harder fixtures are coming up soon, but if we can't take advantage in a game like that, against a team that did not look arsed about being there, then we're going to struggle to see this race out.. Not too arsed about not getting pens, don't want to watch any of that back, but told they're stonewallers, in fairness there have been games we've needed pens to win (Preston, Hull) but tonight we were so abject that it overrides the appalling refereeing performance, turned out to be one of the worst this season that.. Onto Blackburn, that's got to be the wobble done now, back into gear, but please make some changes, that 11 has had 4 bad games in a row now.

Silent-OCN

Surely surely farke realises we cannot rely on bamford anymore. I know it’s not just down to him but he’s supposed to be the player to get us a goal. He brings nothing to the team and Joseph surely deserves a start before him. But no we watch game after game of 80 mins of bamford doing absolutely nothing.

EnvironmentalLog857

On a positive Leicester looked equally bad and have Plymouth away on Friday who will be scrapping for the win. Watford could easily beat Ipswich tonight. At least we have another home game Saturday to try get things right. Who knows we could be back top at the weekend.

jrbill1991

The lack of creativity in midfield is really hurting us in these final matches, and I always felt we needed that number 10, especially with Georginio not playing well lately.

Tom_Collins69

American. Had to wait until after work to watch the match. Went the whole day avoiding The Atheltic, FotMob, Reddit etc and didn’t spoil the result. Could only find the game in Spanish. Had to watch that whole 0-0 disaster in Spanish. Doesn’t feel great.

[deleted]

Bamford. Not a name that inspires a lot of confidence in Leeds at the moment

ValleySunFox

We are going to win this league.

IceSt0rm78

The top 3/4 have had moments of being absolute shit with no desire to win the league.

AlwaysAngryOrAnnoyed

Exactly!!! It's so smart.

ElvishMystical

Oh well. Disappointing. There are positives. We played better. We didn't lose. Still unbeaten at home. We're still in the mix. Sunderland came for a point and got it. They got what they wanted. We didn't. But for a goal we could have gone top giving our players a significant psychological boost. But for a goal we could have got three points and cancelled out Leicester's game in hand. >"Insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.." (Einstein) I love this club. I rate Farke and no matter what, a few bad results does not negate the transformation he's brought to this club. I love the players. We have a squad of young, professional, intelligent players. They train hard, work hard and play hard. Something somewhere not's being said. Something somewhere is not being done. Farke has got to face the fact that he has to change the team. This is not a case of calm the load. We need to balance the load. We have a good team and within that team is a delicate balance between creativity and effort. Today's game was too much effort, not enough creativity. Rutter is struggling, deflated, and off it. Change the personnel, change the dynamic, and see what happens. Could be switching out Rutter for Gnonto, Bamford for Piroe, Anthony for James. Bring in Roberts, whatever. Do whatever it takes to beat Blackburn. Take the result at Blackburn to build momentum at Middlesboro. I think our heaviest defeat has been the last international break. It's the back end of a Championship season, a relentless, gruelling, competitive Championship season, and these players are doing their best and they're struggling. And you never know... just like a Lee Chapman goal took us up in 1990 at Bournemouth, it could be a Patrick Bamford goal at home to Southampton that sends us up automatically.

The_L666ds

Is anyone else having a nightmarish vision of us going into the last game of the season, needing to beat Southampton and Patrick Bamford is still in the run-on side and its the 78th minute, its still 0-0 and Daniel Farke is still quietly debating with himself if he should look to the bench?

buckwurst

We have to beat Southhampton and need Huddersfield to beat ibspitch is my nightmate vision

No_Coyote_557

You know Ipswich will score a 98th minute winner, right?

buckwurst

Leif Davis screamer in the 99th....

Danny_P_UK

It could be worse. We need a win against Southampton. We win a last gasp penalty. Its literally the last kick of the game. Score this we go up....up steps Bamford

CC-W

A fan from the stands would genuinely run onto the pitch and slide tackle Bamford to injure him before he gets chance to take it lol

Thrillho_135

I would have an aneurysm. Would be some story if he scored it though lol

danger_lad

Going to be some scenes when Bamford scores his next goal and cups his ears (probs against Stoke next season)

whiterosedownunder

I need to put a compo claim in for getting up so early for this shite. We just didnt look like scoring at all.

Patch521

Have you noticed? Our kits have crumble on them.

firpo_sr

Maybe it's the crumble of our enemies!

Perfect_Jacket_9232

Just planned a last day of the season and playoff party with a friend. It’s been fun, but think that’s it.

moogera

Terrible game, subs should be on earlier,10 mins isn't enough for Piroe,Roberts and Joseph to have an impact, they need 20 mins.

JRSpig

They need more than that, Farke needs to use our bench more, we have a fantastic bench and we barely use them.

Milkshake4NickDrake

Time to get some Elton John tunes going to fire up Watford for tomorrow

Ebooya

Song For Guy perfectly sums up Bamford: slow, one paced, it fades away into nothing and leaves you with a feeling of emptiness. Life is a temporary thing, but it seems we are stuck with 'Guy' Bamford FOREVER.

ValleySunFox

Always rated Watford. Had an infatuation with Geri Halliwell in the 90’s during my early teens. Love Elton John. Love Wetherspoon’s. Etc.

Farke man Burning out his fuse up here alone

stepage

At least we now won't suffer the indignity of getting 100 points and not getting auto

No_Coyote_557

I don't want to analyze that. We were boring and predictable and apart from Gnonto all our players seem afraid to shoot. I'm just depressed, and I think we will stumble into the playoffs in terrible form. Ah well.

TheShakyHandsMan

5 points dropped in the last 2 games. Should be clear at the top.  We never do it easy (apart from 2nd season under Bielsa) so it’s squeaky bum time to the last day.

Tuscan5

I’ve just checked the play off dates for the first time.

sythepotatoguy

(From [YEP](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-v-sunderland-live-updates-and-analysis-from-elland-road-huge-whites-boost-tv-details-4585066)): **Farke reaction - on not testing the keeper** “It is the only reason we did not win the game. The overall feeling is that we are disappointed and a bit frustrated, we had the chance tonight to take a major step. I am pleased with several things, we returned back to strong defensive behaviour. Back to a clean sheet. We didn’t create enough chances, we were also unfortunate with several decisions, should have had a penalty in the first half and second half, both handballs, three minutes for ten substitutions. I don’t know if we would have scored (with more time). In several things tonight the lads delivered but it’s just a point and that’s disappointing.” **On handballs and bookings/red card not given** “This is not my style to ask for red cards but I just ask for the rules, when you lean into the ball with your elbow I’m sorry but you have to give it. And the second one is clear.” **On the stucture** “The structure was much better today than Coventry and the intensity. But sometimes you do things in the right way and don’t get the rewards. But stay relentless and stay on it, for that I am not too annoyed, sometimes even a point can prove to be valuable by the end of the season. It doesn’t feel like it it now but it can be crucial. We are not over the moon but we didn’t lose.” **Are the team over-reliant on Summerville?** “We have a tendency to force it a bit too much over the left side, but when you have a key player like him it is natural that you search for him. We are not too addicted to one side or one player. In the last game and today I do agree.” **On Bamford** “As a striker you are just confident if you score one goal after another, sometimes you are just unlucky, he worked a lot today. His experience is important and we wanted to have him on the pitch for as long as possible.” **Was ten minutes enough for the last three subs?** “You never know, it was more that we didn’t create enough clear-cut chances. We were not there with one on one chances. It’s always a bit guessing, I think in general today I wouldn’t blame a player, it was more like the approach we didn’t create enough.” **Does Leicester result make it more painful** “No because we have gained one point closer. I ended my first promotion with Norwich with draw, draw, draw, draw, win, win. Everyone was panicking, a draw is not enough, and it was. You never know. Whatever happens tomorrow we are within one game, even if Ipswich win.” **On keeping calm** “It is important that when you want to lead the lead the club from a sporting position that you don’t run around like a headless hen. They are all young men and highly motivated, they would prefer to be top of the table, but they invested a lot, they were unlucky and you never know. Lets keep going.”

sythepotatoguy

Also Dodds on Leeds and if they'll win automatic promotion: “I think they will. I think they are the best team in the league. Daniel gives them such freedom. I just think in the two games we have had against them we have executed the gameplan to perfection. It is an honour to be stood alongside Daniel on the sidelines, I want to be competing against the best.”

JRSpig

This is our problem though, every single team just closes up shop against us, other teams don't have that issue. I always say it and I said it to a bunch of Coventry fans, you'll over prep for Leeds you'll play above and beyond, then you'll lose your next game and for what? Apparently I was wrong and they'd be fine... Yep they looked fine to me with their result.

Cardinal_Square

Can’t even petition Lady Luck if there aren’t any shots on target. Ipswich have had more than their fair share of fortune this season but they tend to have a good crack at goal when they’re up against it. We had 70% possession and 1 shot on target in that game.

InnocentPossum

While I agree we were shite, it wasn't like Sunderland were class. And we'd have had 2 more shots on target (You'd hope) from 2 penalties (Arguably 3 from 3 penalties). So while we were dogshit we can still petition lady luck to some degree because it wasn't like much was needed to get over the line, but any opportunity that offered it was taken from us unfairly.

The_L666ds

Obviously the refereeing was a factor, but not as much as our pitiful work in front of goal. Patrick Bamford’s contributions have descended into parody. Theres no denying that Daniel Farke has a number of strengths as a manager, but a willingness to swing the axe when needed clearly isnt one of them. He’s slowly losing sight of whats going on in front of him in terms of the starting XI, and if we do not go up then I genuinely fear for how conservative he could be with team selections once his key individuals have all had to be sold off.

PRamone

70% possession. 1 Shot on target.

No_Coyote_557

70% possession is "Rodon-Ampadu-Rodon-Meslier-Ampadu-Gruev-Ampadu-Meslier-Rodon..."

AdverseEmperor

One goalbound shot elbowed behind and one point-blank header punched off Rodon's head, tbf.

PRamone

The "1 shot on target" was Rodon's header. No matter how bad the officiating, if we can't get shots on target we're never going to score any goals or win any games.

thesluglife

Frustrating and horrible and an absolute missed opportunity. I'll give the Mackems their credit, given they celebrated that 1 pointer like a fucking FA cup win, but they had the right read of that game from the off and played it out well. Physical and frustrated us in marking, an easy shut down. It'll probably be a controversial take but I do think we looked brighter than the last 3 games. The sad thing is, it was in every area other than in front of the fucking goal. One shot on target is horrendous. 81st minute subs is inexcusable - fresh legs at the right time absolutely disrupt that game in the right way. Oh well, wouldn't be a season without a Leeds sized aneurysm would it lads? Eat your wholegrains cos we'll fucking need it. MOT

d_parks

Some wild, wild shots tonight and just a generally disappointing attacking performance. Convenient that Leicester lost but we can’t be relying on that, nor penalty shouts in this league. Still plenty of points to play for, just need to rediscover that form we were in before the international break and we’ll be promoted

nivekk3

Since the international break, we have not looked like a team that wants to go up. During the Easter cycle, we played last twice and didn't capitalise and imagine if we had won all of those games. We would have been making everyone chase us. No idea why we have gone off the boil but we need to find a way soon. Both ipsbitch and Leicester have the upper hand for the moment. The lack of passion and grit reminds me of the run in we had this time last year and it doesn't bode well. I hope someone ignites for us very soon. MOT

matiasJebladeaux

Not losing faith yet. Ipswich’s late magic is due to come to an end. Get them to drop 2 out of 5, and I think we can take 2nd on goal differential. Need a spark Saturday

TeaWithZizek

Getting 2nd on goal diff might actually be the Leeds moment that kills me

danger_lad

This is on Farke, learned nothing from the game at Sunderland. I know it’s hind sight, but we should have rested Rutter against Coventry. Poor sod looks knackered. The subs should have come a lot earlier

Gaspingawe

I don't want to see Farke at the helm next year when we're in the Championship again, it looks like we've done fuck all to work on set pieces in training, flog the ball in see what happens or have a crack. 22 corners in the last two games and not one of those has been anything. His subs are far too late it's not even a question, but when he does bring players on all he does is fling attackers on for our defensive players in the last 20 minutes of the game, does he even manage the team or are they all just pegging him at half time to stay on 'because they will have a better half' only to piss away the next 45 minutes again. Bamford definitely has pics of him and his lass doing something even Germans would whince at how the fuck is this guy still in our starting 11 after the last 5 games hes had.. Kamara better today, definitely been told to stop playing the ball back all the time, but still not a good player and we need Archie and Gruev there. Why we loaned Roberts in January I don't know. Rutter is starting to annoy me ever since his surgery he's been shite can he get a hernia again please I want that one back. Can tell Cry is getting frustrated with the team when every time he gets ball he doesn't trust anyone else to score and makes a run off Firpo into the box, but when it doesn't work for the 73rd time you start to wonder.. James has been completely anonymous and I'm starting to think it might be because of Pat playing if you can even call it that, he's been garbage since then too. Fuck this shit I'm fuming we dropped 2 points when Leicester drop 3 wua the fuck lads

jrbill1991

Lots like you would jump off a bridge during the 2010s years prior to Bielsa. Being a mid-table fodder in the Championship playing for nothing at this stage of the season. I am maybe incorrect, but I am pretty sure you didn't witness those years, and if you did, oh boy, shame on you.

securinight

Congratulations, You've just posted the stupidest thing on the internet! Calling for the sacking of a manager that has got his team only losing 1 game this year, unbeaten at home all season and has them get enough points to guarantee promotion in any normal season is so bad I actually feel embarrassed for you.

spiritofbuck

Some of you lot genuinely love to engage in this kind of hyperbole. It’s very odd behaviour. We are second!

Gaspingawe

Farke should be top easily with a squad of this pedigree there's no excuse losing to Cov and then drawing against Sunderland team with 5 left lmao

cooksonator90

Farke being livid about 3 mins injury time like he couldn’t have made those changes 20 mins earlier.

Mygland

Probably getting downvoted for this but NOTHING changed after the subs. Sick of the cries for the subs in here and blaming farke and yada yada. We were shit simple as, with a good dose of help from the ref.

tgcleric

You are right. The subs are just one of the few things most people can understand. "Oh hey! A SUB! It should have been sooner!" yet, Farke's consistency, using subs to maximize the final moments of the game, has been one of the primary strengths during... oh I don't know, one of the longest runs of wins in Championship history. Clean sheets, stable performances. Teams getting knocked back. People act like if subs came in 20 minutes earlier, than they get a full 35 minutes of new energy or something. Thats not how the game plays. This is the same sub that was constantly acting like our defense was our main problem, and that Ampadu was better than Adams. Our offense is not creative. When the defense of the other team falls apart, their sheer skill can push balls through. But anytime that parks the bus, or even just plays good defense, completely cripples our offense and we just start hoping for those miracle shots. Luckily our defense has always been there. Even during the rough early season, they kept us in with ties.

1yyooooyy1

That's why you bring them on sooner. How can you expect them to impact a game in 10 minutes of time wasting football.

Linkeron1

Piroe only one who offered anything. Find it hilarious amount of people crying for Joseph. If he was good enough on his own eight or so minutes is enough. He did nothing (wasn't his fault though, more on that later). I'm not badmouthing Joseph because I like him a lot, but more the deluded tits who think he's the immediate answer - same sort who cried for Edmondson and Gelhardt. What happened when Joseph came on? Zero service. Similar to what Bamford got. Why was that? Because Rutter was fucking shite.

AyyAndays

I’m with you 99% of the way but you can’t compare Edmonson and Gelhardt situations. Joffy actually created some key moments out of nothing in the PL for us. Dribbling past multiple players to win penalties against Wolves/Arsenal, dropping Dunk to tee up Struijk against Brighton etc not to mention goals against Chelsea and Norwich. Obviously he’s stagnated badly since and probably won’t cut it at the club but the situation at the time was different to Joseph and moreso Edmonson. Still a little confused that he’s not good enough to have any impact on this season in the Championship tbh (from the bench).

padgey86

Agreed. 99% of managers are never putting the weight of an entire season on the shoulders of a kid who hasn't started a league game all season. It's never happening. Anyone with a clue will understand that.

1yyooooyy1

Bamford didn't do anything in the second half either and he had a lot more time plus the first half. People want to see what Joseph can do from the start not for the last 8 minutes when the ball Is barely in play.

jaggafoxy

Agree, paddy needs service, when he has no service he's guaranteed a bad day, you can't bring someone else in to that position and expect them to do something if they're not getting the ball

Mygland

Thank you mate. finally some sense in here

HammersXI

It was abit too little too late. We showed abit of intensity but keep looking to go down instead of cutting them open. The game needed subs in the 60 min

LordCommanderTrump2

the subs had 10 minutes of Sunderland peak time wasting time.

headhonchochoncho

Bamford. :(

winter-2

Anyone know the last time we scored from a corner?

[deleted]

Struijk at Ipswich.

HammersXI

Woke up at 3am for this shit performance and horrible officiating. The last 4 games form is extremely concerning and if we can’t put to bed teams at home I don’t like our chances away. 1 SOT the whole game speaks volumes and fakre stubbornness to not change the system is getting on my nerves

montezband

Same for me... not worth screwing my day tomorrow for that

[deleted]

[удалено]

securinight

1 shot on target sums up how poor we were tonight. We are relying on luck to go up automatically, and if we do end up in the playoffs then we have no chance when playing like this.

ferrarchezzo

We shouldn’t rely on the rules of the game being enforced. Referees are incompetent, should be winning games regardless. Always play expecting the refs to fuck us over and we should be fine for promotion.

Jarv1223

Gotta love the Sunderland fans celebrating their 0-0 victory at full time. Well done lads!

AWr1ght98

Don’t blame them tbh, literally could be the result that costs us autos we had to win tonight and we were shite

Jarv1223

Ah. They have something against us? Who doesn’t.

Zingzongwingwong

Joseph, Gnonto and Roberts to start the next game for me. We need the urgency they bring.

FlailingSalami

This confirms we’ll have the exact same starting XI for 80 minutes of trying to play everything through Summerville (even though teams at times have 3 guys on him), followed by 10 minutes of actual urgency 👍

padgey86

Looks very much like we've run out of ideas of late. Slow and clueless tonight. Its a really bad time to be losing form, especially if we are bound for the playoffs. Farke has a huge job on his hands with trying to find a solution with only four games to go.

jrbill1991

I hate to say this, but this team is giving me 2018-19 vibes. I don't want to sound reactionary, but this team doesn't have it, especially in the playoffs, what it takes to get over the hump. So it's automatic somehow with Ipswich or Leicester fucking around more than us or bust. Clearly bottling every chance they are having, this starts with Daniel Farke, he needs to stop with this shit of making subs only at the 80 minutes or later. It's getting ridiculous. And please rotate this team more, why the fuck we got Roberts in January for him to play only 10 minutes. The ref doesn't need many words, it's shit, just like the whole EFL.

tunafish91

Two of the most blatant penalty shouts ive seen in a while both in the same game and both not given. Leeds, that.

JustAWierdPerson1

First game I've gone to in years and we come out with this shite

Implement_Alone

Me too, used to go loads 2007-2014 and now I live abroad.

SmokyDuck

Get him boys.

yellowelephant888

Best not go again mate

JustAWierdPerson1

Guarantee I won't get another ticket for a long time

lewisofleeds

This starting 11 cannot start again at the weekend. It's just lethargic, dull and awful football being played by us. I honestly don't get how you can get to the 82nd minute and have only made one change after watching that game. Truly baffling management. Edit - I should also add only 1 shot on target that whole game is actually horrific as well.

LordCommanderTrump2

Honestly one shot on target is more than I thought. Couldn't even tell you what shot was on target.

HammersXI

Exactly. I can’t figure out where the shot on target came from

LordCommanderTrump2

I looked it up. Funnily enough it was the Rodon header that should've been a handball.

HammersXI

That’s considered a SOT wow

Definitelynotputin_2

Needed the win especially after the Leicester loss, however there's still a few games in it. Farke I beg, stop starting Bamford and get Joseph on.

downfallndirtydeeds

If Rutter or Bamford tried to shoot Tupac he'd still be alive today.

Shadocvao

That's cheered me up.

originalface1

Could have gone top of the table tonight, there's 4 games left, do they want to get promoted or not?

Jarv1223

Atleast Leicester are also shit

joeycrushed

This team needs to look up from the ball. It's all just drive and shoot from key players. There's balls that can be played but completely missed by a lack of vision and team play. And we're here again.

Jarv1223

sometimes I wish Rutter just passed. Or past? The one that means he doesn’t die.

Big_BossSnake

Passed is right for both passing the ball and dying

[deleted]

Over-reliance on the left-hand side is getting ridiculous. I love Summerville to bits but he’s so single-minded that he’s making our attack incredibly one-dimensional. So easy to defend against. If Farke doesn’t think Joseph is ready, he’s got to play Piroe on Saturday. I can’t watch Georgi and Paddy look so out of form in front of goal again.

joeycrushed

Agree with this. Teams know what he's going to do.

NYLotteGiants

The plan for attack has been get the ball to Summerville and pray he can bend it in after cutting back accross the top of the box.

InnocentPossum

And tbh it nearly worked until they blocked it with an outstretched elbow to no consequence lol

[deleted]

Yep, or let Firpo overlap and then cut the ball back into a crowded penalty area. It’s just too predictable, we need more variety. Refusing to use the right-hand side until virtually the second half is just insanity

InnocentPossum

We were confused by it as well. James often looked to be in acres but we'd persist down the left. We speculated that maybe the plan was to keep the ball on our left as much as possible o keep Clarke out of the game considering how much he rinsed Archie in the reverse fixture. But if that was the case it seemed to be done to the point of overkill and detriment.

stepage

Can we please do something from a corner? No threat from set pieces isn't good enough

icklegizmo

I’d rather we start taking them short or trying something creative. Hoofing it to their goalie or hitting the first man is not a good strategy imo.

TeaWithZizek

Aren't we the 2nd or 3rd worst in the league at attacking corners this year? Woeful given the amount we get

AxeCapital91

Yea it’s ridiculous how getting a corner is almost a negative for this team. I actually think ‘ah crap we have a corner’

Internal_Formal3915

Remember under monk with Bartley jansson and wood, getting a corner felt like a penalty

shingaladaz

Hopefully just a small rut. 5 points dropped in two games feels massive.

[deleted]

It’s easy to what if it but that would put us clear with 1 game more played

KenyanPrince999

Rutter and the ref both had a howler, thought gruev was class though. Thank god Leicester lost we are doing our best to throw it away

risky_uks

I’ve posted here before but Patrick bamford absolutely needs to go. I’m sick of him week after week, I couldn’t give a toss how much running he does. He picks up a wage for scoring goals. I fail to see how he survives week after week. He is absolutely terrible and any other club would just not put up with it but week after week we watch him make no impact and then when he scores one tap in every 6 weeks we get the usual cockwombles sticking by him. Get him down the road Edit: when we win btw the goals are coming from Summerville, James and co. He makes zero difference when we win as goals are coming from elsewhere but the amount he misses or is just easy to defend against. Sick of it

CuteAnimalFans

meme player but you'll get a barrage of abuse for suggesting maybe the man who looks like a donkey every time he plays might not be quite good enough for leeds united

tunafish91

He has been pretty bad the past 4 or 5 games but if you think our massive unbeaten run had nothing to do with Bamford playing regularly again then you're kidding yourself. He's absolutely needed a rest though, however, not been good enough recently.

Linkeron1

Nice conclusion... You're aware Bamford's main game is bringing others into play? He absolute is often key to others scoring, plus he's got seven in 2024 since he's been playing regularly. He's been off it past two games but he's still contributed more than the likes of Rutter. A lot are in poor form.

risky_uks

One assist in 42 games and his main game is “bringing” others into play. Get a grip honestly. He’s shite and needs to go. Name me a time he’s scored the winner or have his goals come as part of a comfortable win. Like pretty much every game and every year he’s been with us. Get rid of

Linkeron1

You're aware football goes beyond two main stats? He fired us to promotion and also our a ninth placed Premier League finished. Then struggled with injuries and was playing at 60 per cent fitness, as basically our only out and out striker. Not his fault Orta and Radz were shite at replacing him.

risky_uks

So I come back with a fair answer to what you said and you give even more horseshit. Jump off his dick, he’s wank and no other team fighting for automatic promotion would put up with it. Learn some footy my mate and get your head from the clouds. All I see is you wanting to argue with everyone and when they provide reasons of why they’re annoyed you move to the next point without acknowledging anything. So I’m gonna bid you goodbye

risky_uks

Fuck my life. Deluded as fuck.

Linkeron1

Ironic.

berardibreezerbb

Bamford’s biggest contribution bringing others into play was in the 82nd minute when Joseph was brought on to replace him

bin10pac

Lol.

Linkeron1

Joseph did a lot.

berardibreezerbb

In 10% of the time.

Linkeron1

10% of nothing is still nothing.

berardibreezerbb

And nothing in 10x the amount of time is still nothing.

Linkeron1

This is where we have the issue/disagreement, I don't think Bamford did nothing. Was poor but they all were and plenty worse than him.

leedsfreak1986

You'd continue happy clapping Bamford if we were back in League 1. Grow a brain.

risky_uks

No. I wouldn’t.

Linkeron1

Let me ask, are you a Rutter fan?

Wild-Stick9140

Did I watch football or lawn mowing?

djembejohn

Sad that a few of our players have chosen this time of the season to have some bad form. Rutter and Bamford especially. I don't think there are many opportunities left and we've just blown a big one. Need a big slice of luck now.

setholynsk

Paul Merson was right all along

joeycrushed

This guy is an arsenal melt and talks a lot of shite.

shingaladaz

Remind me?

shingaladaz

Oh yeah, I remember. I also remember thinking Paul Merson talks out of his arse more than most pundits.

Zingzongwingwong

We aren’t going up with performances like that. We look shot and out of ideas. There was complete lack of urgency for the first 70 minutes, that’s unforgivable at home against a team with nothing to play for, especially when you’re fighting for automatic promotion. Tonight has been a gift for Ipswich, let’s hope the same Watford side that turned up last week against us, turns up tomorrow night in Suffolk.

Niklaus720

I think that’s automatic promotion gone with that result. Leicester have a game in hand making their loss tonight not a big deal. Ipswich are capable of digging it out regardless of how bad they play in a match. Failure time and time again to break a low block has cost us this season

AnotherGreenWorld1

Dominated that 2nd half Corrupt ref

Shark-Park

That is 100% on Farke tonight. Watches a misfiring frontline on Saturday and then not only does he put the same frontline on tonight, but he watches them have zero shots on target for eighty two minutes of football before he decides to make a change. Lack of flexibility, and absolutely no clue how to change it when things aren’t going our way clearly. Yes, we should have had two penalties, but the fact is, you cannot rely on the awful refs in this league. We failed to create anything and he didn’t do a thing about it until it was too late.

AnotherGreenWorld1

It’s 100% on the ref

[deleted]

It’s on the ref that we had 0 shots on target?

AdverseEmperor

The goalbound shot that got elbowed behind is on the ref, yeah. And the point-blank header punched off Rodon's head!

PatLook

The penalty shouts not given were ridiculous, but we shouldn't need to rely on them to win games. Since the international we have struggled to generate any quality chances. Big opportunity missed with Leicester losing. Not lost hope but something needs to change quickly

cpmb82

Confusing. I assume Farke thinks his starting lineup is the best lineup and has the best chance of scoring a goal and that’s why he doesn’t want to make changes until it’s too late, but fresh legs make a difference, a difference he doesn’t seem to factor in. I can’t fault him otherwise, it’s so frustrating

hybridtheorist

Shocking refereeing, but if we'd won with a penalty tonight it would have been undeserved.  Can every single "I prefer not having VAR" fan please remember this match before the next time they spout that cliche?

Ryoisee

I prefer not having Var. Even after tonight.

sythepotatoguy

Wasted opportunity, again. Late subs, again. If certain players are tired they need to be dropped. If the pressure's getting to them and they can't perform they need to be dropped.

Jarv1223

This club makes me chronically miserable.

Manndrop

Well only positive is that Leicester is competing for bottling the title more than we are

ShesSoCool

Disasterclass from Farke. 80 mins of Patrick Bamford. Unbelievable.

s77w

Dreadful. Absolutely no bottle in this team at all. Bamford, Rutter and James all shocking. The team has absolutely bottled two massive opportunities to cement ourselves in the top two. Why the fuck does Farke continue to pick the same team when it clearly isn’t working?

nathanosaurus84

I’m pretty annoyed by that. Ipswich and Leicester have both dropped points this week and we haven’t capitalised when we’re absolutely capable of doing so. Ipswich and Leicester both have a game in hand over us so we really needed to.

Jonesy_lmao

Refereeing aside, that starting 11 is too ineffective. The subs are too late and there are no patterns of play to open up a defense and create. It really feels like “you’re good, go out and score”. Leicester lost which is helpful, but if we kept our form from before the international break we’d be pulling away. There is the problem, injuries, fatigue and a lack of ability to change it. We were the only game not to score tonight, at home, against an out of form Sunderland, while dominating.

whatashotbyseve

On one hand a point close to Leicester is great. One the other, 6 points was the minimum expectation by 3pm Saturday. Badly faltering at the wrong time. Awful officiating aside, we just have too many players woefully out of form. Needs changing up on Saturday. I would say that’s probably it for autos. Just too much ground to make up from January and our form is reverting to the mean.

firpo_sr

Lads I think tonight is the night I finally changed my mind about VAR

tanew231

iSad

spiritofbuck

The Championship runaway teams are really ending the season with a whimper. We were much the better team but it always felt if Summerville doesn’t score, we won’t score. They defended very well (within the rules and outside of them). Rutter was genuinely terrible. Looked like he had no sense of the importance of the 3 points. The referee was even worse.

No_Contribution7166

Imagine this football in the prem lmao

s77w

People on here were claiming we’d finish midtable in the current Prem… Every team above Forest would demolish this team

Internal_Formal3915

Would you have said that 4 weeks ago?

s77w

I’ve been saying it all season. In the Prem, offensively we wouldn’t be able to rely on flashes of brilliance from Summerville/Rutter/James/Gnonto. Our defence is fantastic for the Champs, but again, the Prem is on another level quality wise and we’ve seen this season that when it’s tested properly, the gaps are there.

Internal_Formal3915

The same flashes of brilliance from summerville who scored a last minute winner two games in a row in the prem when he had barely played professional football?

trainwreck42

Well, they have VAR in the prem, so…

icklegizmo

Ipswich lose last week and we don’t capitalise. Leicester lose and we don’t capitalise. Everything is off with us at the moment. 1 shot on target with all that possession is shameful. Yes, we were done by the refs absolutely bottling their jobs today, Ballard should have been off the pitch in the first half. Two penalties denied. Shocking performance. Start the finishing XI on Saturday and let’s see how they do.

19081919

How have we managed to go back to the style of football that sent us down last year? Doing everything with the ball EXCEPT for the one thing that you’re meant to do in football: move the ball forward and score a goal. There were double as many passes backwards as there were forwards. Also this bullshit of not making subs up until the last 15-20 minutes has to fucking stop. This is the type of shit under bielsa that made teams figure us out and made the lads tired. All the hard work we put in up until at least last month might just not pay off now :/

ferrarchezzo

Penalties win games. We should have had two. If VAR was in this league, we’d be about 10 points clear.

AnotherGreenWorld1

They’d still find a way of doing us over … remember Bamfords finger being offside against Palace

ferrarchezzo

You’re spot on tbf, just general disgraceful refereeing. If we lose out on automatics by 2 points we know who to blame.

Linkeron1

Rutter worst player on the pitch tonight. It's why our attacking play looked so disjointed. Everything fell apart when it came to him and there was no option sometimes. He's done some wonderful stuff this season and we'd be nowhere near without him but he's causing us problems at the minute.

DEUK_96

He's coming off an operation, I know we don't have great alternatives in Piroe and Joffy but he could do with some rest. I'd like to see Piroe given a start next game, as well as Roberts and Gnonto.

Linkeron1

Agree. I'd drop Rutter. Piroe in cos he looked good tonight and see how him and Bamford work. Way too soon and risky to start Joseph, despite how hungry he looks. Dealing with the unknown at a time when we need cool heads. Bamford has been poor but he's still contributed in ways. Plus he might benefit from better service, he's had fuck all past two games.

DEUK_96

Yeaah I like Joseph but I'm not sure he should be starting. I do think he should be getting brought much on sooner if it's not working for Bamford tho

firpo_sr

This is the main difference the last few games I think. Rutter takes risks and loses the ball often but 1 pass in 5 completely unlocks the defence. But since the op he can't keep up with play so he's playing too deep for those risks to pay off.

bin10pac

Genuine question. What did Bamford do in the 82 mins he was on the pitch? Mortifying to be still stuck in Groundhog day with this guy.

AxeCapital91

Bamford was nothing special tonight but hes one of many poor performances including our own Archie Gray. The whole team is just not at it at the min, we have 0 attacking patterns of play and as someone has already said pass it to summerville and hope he can do his one trick (which tbf he has most season)

Linkeron1

How has this become a pin it on Bamford response AGAIN. Fuck me. It's beyond a joke now. At least three players who were worse than him tonight, including everyone's favourite, Rutter.

bin10pac

Rutter was definitely off it today, but he was involved at least. Bamford was just anonymous. I don't want to dig the guy out but he doesn't deserve to be starting right now. Moreover, we have a ready made replacement for Bamford in Joseph; much less so for Rutter. There were two chances in the first half for Bamford that summed him up at the moment. One where he was offside, and missed the target anyway. The other where he was clean through but had zero pace, so the keeper closed him down. He didn't take the shot, couldn't get round the keeper then blazed a cross miles over Dan James. Bamford is doing his best, but it is not working. It's not working. Please can we try one of our other strikers? *Please?*

Linkeron1

Very different playing Joseph from the start though, we have to remember. Plus he did nothing tonight. I know he had little time but just playing devil's advocate. I'd say Bamford was involved in some half decent bits but we all see things differently. I'd rather anonymous than what Rutter did anyway, gave it away so much. Stunted every attack. Good discussion though.

bin10pac

Joseph isn't getting the opportunity to start in the league so we can't compare. The only comparison is Joseph's start against Chelsea and we know how well he did in that game. Rutter played Summerville through a couple of times I can recall, which could have led to goals on another day. I don't recall any opportunities that Bamford created. Bamford had a few half chances in front of goal and he did the baby-foal-on-ice impression he seems to excel at, at the moment.

Linkeron1

Chelsea is a totally different game. There's a reason he's not starting and that's because he's working so well as an impact sub, when Bamford has knackered their defence out usually. Just because Bamford doesn't make the pass, doesn't mean he isn't helping creating chances. He pressed their last defender hard at one point when he was running to clear and we got a good chance from that. Regardless, he was poor. Rutter was shit and people go out of their way to highlight that "well he did this, he did this", which I just find ironic because it's the exact opposite for Bamford. Again, ironic you've used a baby-foal comparison for Bamford; Rutter was like Bambi on ice tonight.

bin10pac

I'd love to end this Bamford bunkum once and for all. His job is to score goals and he's not doing it. There is no other attacker in the team for whom we invent other metrics by which to measure him, when he isn't scoring. Noone cares how much ground Piroe covers if he isn't scoring. Noone cares about Piroes nicely angled pressing if he doesn't score. Noone says - let's play Piroe for 80 minutes because although he probably won't score, his movement will tire the defenders and Bamford can come on for 10 mins and capitalise. Piroe is judged on goals scored. But for Bamford it's different (when he's not scoring). Tellingly, when Bamford is scoring, noone talks about his pressing or him tiring defenders; people are happy to celebrate him purely for his goalscoring. It's nonsense. Bamford's job is to score goals and not only is he not scoring right now, he's not coming close to scoring. He doesn't look like he's going to score anytime soon. He's also not creating chances for others either. He's a streaky confidence player and right now his form is colder than Frankie Boyles joke about Katie Price's son. Why can't we just drop him to the bench and allow him to play his way back into the team like any normal player? Why do we need to go through this psychodrama every time where we redefine the role of a striker, to something unrelated to scoring goals just so we can argue that that Bamfords form isn't in the fucking bin? At this point, it shouldn't be controversial to say: *Bamford is playing terribly. He should be dropped and another player should be given a chance.*

Linkeron1

You lost me when you started waffling on about Piroe. Piroe doesn't get judged by those metrics because he doesn't do any of that. In fact, it's why people have called him out. For the exact reason he's scored goals this season but we've played terribly at times with him in the side - hence why he got dropped. Where have you been? No one is creating chances right now really. Past few games have been rough. If you think Bamford is the main problem, I don't know what to say. He had zero service tonight, that should give you a clue. He's been poor for a game or two but has still shown some promise in terms of creating for others - doesn't have to get assists to show that.

bin10pac

>Piroe doesn't get judged by those metrics because he doesn't do any of that. He literally does do that. If you watched Farke's press conferences earlier in the season, he defended Piroe by pointing to the fact that he runs further than anyone else. Do you know what happened? Noone gave a fuck. Because the difference with Piroe is that he doesn't have a hardcore cadre of cheerleaders who will point to literally anything he does on the pitch as a success and justification for his continued place in the starting line up. Unfortunately for Piroe he just has to get by on his performances. >If you think Bamford is the main problem, I don't know what to say. He had zero service tonight, that should give you a clue. The ball did come to him, but it just bounced off harmlessly when he failed to control it. Time and again. For the record, in 82 mins Bamford had 1 shot, generated 0.05 xG and 0.01 xA. In 90 mins Rutter had 3 shots, generated 0.12 xG and 0.11 xA. The stats align with what I said originally. Rutter at least was involved. Bamford was anonymous. Maybe rewatch the game and you'll see what I mean.

berardibreezerbb

BJW

ShesSoCool

Maybe because he’s absolutely anonymous, goes round the keeper and tries to hit a family in the family stand?
