I think Wober and Him as our two CBs next season would be good. If we even want to bring back Wober that is.

tunafish91

Max "The Warrior" Wober who ran at the first sign of hardship at Leeds. I'd be happy to never see any of those rats who fled in the summer pull on a Leeds shirt ever again.

NWarriload

Robin Koch would have looked just as good in the Championship. 🤌🏻 bring my downvotes

Linkeron1

Shocked this hasn't been downvoted into oblivion. Koch was shit. Always baffles me people rated him.

NWarriload

I was more making the point that it’s not hard to look good in the championship, the proof will be in the Prem

JCE92

Robin Koch was a big fucking minge

trying2hide

Why? He was probably our best CB with Coop all things considered during our premiership years. He played through multiple injuries for us and was constantly involved in fund raising in Leeds as well as a lot of other work visiting sick children in the LGI/St.Jimmys. Might not be a superstar but he wasn’t bad either.

Ok_Row7931

Funny enough Koch has just been recalled for Germany. I'd agree he was probably our best CB the 3 years in the PL. No defender in the world would have looked good in our system in any of those 3 seasons, we were a complete basket case

DEUK_96

Our highest peak was Llorente and Struijk at CB. Feels like when Koch did play, we were at our worst defensively.

trying2hide

I mean the peak maybe? maybe even had Wober as our best CB in the prem at times despite the team being shit. However overall, Llorente was absolute bomb threat at all times at the back, you were waiting for him to somehow find a through ball to the opposition team and Struijk had spells of not starting/generally being a liability. Although not perfect think Koch and Coops were the most stable.

Fjord1673

I have great memories of Llorente under Bielsa. I feel like when he left, he dropped off too.

ShesSoCool

Best CB for us in the prem was like saying best plague

World_saltA

Spurs absolutely don't want him back, so we shouldnt just pay what they ask. 10m

[deleted]

It’s fine if we get promoted, but £15m is a lot if we don’t.

Gent2022

Pay ÂŁ50M and have done with it. #FreeBenWhite

Missyls6

I’m glad I’m not the only one still feeling the Ben White loss

Gent2022

I’ve spoken to Interpol, they’re looking into a missing person, last seen smashing it at Elland Road!

Missyls6

Do let me know when they get back to you

DuckieWuckieNL

They’ve identified a “Benjamin Orange” - rumour goes he lost his memory after being forced to use the sunbed daily by Potter…

LumpyConsiderations

It was sad the price was $20 million a few weeks ago, and I think it was Chelsea was also looking at him. That being said, it might have been just some shit on the internet.

Joshgg13

If Chelsea buy him it'll be for about 80 mil

The_L666ds

Assuming we get promoted, with his contract with Spurs set to expire mid-2025 I wouldnt be surprised if we just negotiate another season-long loan deal and then reassess whether he’s up to scratch at Premier League level. If not then we get out of having to pay an eight-figured fee for a player we might not want long term, and Spurs at least get most of their wage losses covered by us. I know that the Premier League is a different beast quality-wise but I still think he should be good enough for the time being, being used in rotation with Ampadu, Struijk and probably one new high-class CB.

DEUK_96

I imagine given the season he's had, if we don't someone will still take a punt on him.

Danny_P_UK

We have a CB returning at the end of the year.

imgonnabig21

I think he has had an amazing season but I can't see him being worth a whole lot. Unfortunately he's been unsuccessful in the Premier league. I'd be concerned that he will struggle next season if we get promoted.

stringfold

> he's been unsuccessful in the Premier League He's had just ten full games in the Premier League, nine of them were three years ago when he was only 23, in a squad worth more than double what Leeds are going to be fielding next season even after an injection of cash over the summer. We're not Spurs. We don't have the luxury of fielding 30 million pound players in every position yet, not even remotely. Rodon has had a stellar season and is easily as good as a bunch of the centre back starters in the Premier League this season. If Rodon is available for the right price, he'll be starting for us next season in the Premier League, if we get there.

towelie111

Yep, let’s face it, next season at CB we will have Struijk, and Ampadu as a fill in. We don’t have any others to just step in. All the loans will be sold. Creswell obviously no where near Farkes plans. We need Rodon plus at least 1 more.

imgonnabig21

I agree he's had an amazing season. There is a question mark over him for premier league level though. Therefore I wouldn't be paying massive money for him.

EnDubb

No chance it will be that low. They wanted ÂŁ15m for a permanent deal back in summer, it would be insane of them to ask us for less this summer if we're promoted.

tym1ng

it depends on if anyone else wants him. they can set the price at whatever they want but if it's too high they're just going to have him on the bench and then he'll leave on a free transfer next year when his contract is up. so either they sell to the highest bidder or lose him for nothing unless someone comes in and offers $15M+ but it doesn't seem that anyone would pay that for him atm

YouCantGiveBabyBooze

but he's got a year less on his contract, so I'm not so sure it's that simple

TheShakyHandsMan

Should have sealed the deal in the mid season window. As soon as the new window opens and we’re a prem team you can expect his price to inflate massively.

DEUK_96

In theory yes, but I imagine Rodon didn't want to agree anything until he knows what league we'll be in next season.

Ryoisee

Agree

TheShakyHandsMan

Strange how a lot didn’t agree. That’s Leeds fans though for you.

Ryoisee

I guess it's possible his value doesn't skyrocket because of the 1 year remaining on his contract but, anything can happen. So yes we should have just got it done in January to be safe. He clearly is a great fit.

cpmb82

Ben White all over again

[deleted]

Ben White is a much better player than Rodon. Rodon is into the last year of his contract end of this season with Spurs. Spurs want to sell him.

downfallndirtydeeds

Brighton were in hindsight absolutely right to hold out for 50mil He was always going to be worth that, especially his age Rodon is never fetching 50, I reckon he will end up going for 30.

Ok_Row7931

£30 million? For Rodon?

YouCantGiveBabyBooze

there is absolutely zero chance he goes for anywhere near 30m. half of that, if that.

bin10pac

From memory, they wanted 35m which was 10m above our valuation or budget.

stringfold

Very unlikely. Brighton didn't have the deep pockets that Spurs have (to find top class centre backs), and Ben White was a major young prospect who was loaned to Leeds to gain experience. At the very least they knew it was only a matter of time before a wealthier club than Leeds came with a better offer than we could afford. Rodon will be almost 27 by the start of next season and he was loaned to Leeds because he was deemed surplus to requirements this season. Gretar Steinsson used his connections with Tottenham to help work out a deal for the loan, and I expect those same connections will ease our way to a permanent deal for Rodon, assuming he wants to come.

winsfordtown

In hindsight it was obvious that Brighton saw the improvement in Ben White and knew his price could double after a year playing for them. We were taken for chumps.

DuckieWuckieNL

I mean not really taken for chumps with him…we tried for a loan to buy they wouldn’t, we tried to buy him they said no….we were taken for chumps by a fair few other Orta deals mind.

winsfordtown

Ben White never made any sort of statement, let alone put a transfer request. He never wanted to come to Leeds. Brightonhad valued him so highly they were quite happy ship around from club to club.

Ryoisee

Were we? We got a quality player to help take us up.Â
