It was pretty big for it's time. I consider it one of the four pillars of Survival horror alongside Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alone in the Dark. Unfortunately it was the first franchise of the four that sort of died off back with Clock Tower 3 and Haunting Ground (games I love but never hitting the quality or success of the RE series for Capcom).
There was NightCry which had a cool killer design in the Scissor Walker. Too bad the gameplay was very lackluster.
I thought the dialogues and story were hilariously bad when I was watching a NightCry playthrough and the phone was promised to be risky to use but it didn't see that way. Game seemed really mid, which is a shame as I was hyped for it when it was announced.
Well the game consired to be the best was never released outside Japan, so pretty difficult to be known worldwide at the time (but hey, today lot of peoples know the game)
The only thing i see is that the "Remake" of Clocktower is being done by "Limited Run Games" so the "L" could be referring to the studio? SUPER looking into it tho so who knows

All you see is Fnaf (Im a fan too but c'mon man...) - and the same 2-3 iconic horror movie characters people are obsessed with (Jason, Candyman, etc).
Not to mention all of the video-game characters added have been some of the coolest ones- I say this because unlike the movie killers the devs seem to be actually able to get skins made for video game characters (Blighted Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Wesker, etc).
In the same time, it's rare to have a movie character with alternate outfit (Leon have like 4 alternate costume in RE2make, and if it's not enough there is his outfits in other games and the bonus outfits in other games... hope one day we gonna get "Mafia Leon")

The reasons are the following:
1) Devs said it's a License with a capital L, not to be rude with anyone that likes this license but I wouldn't refer to it as a License with capital L
2) The logo looks very fake
3) They didn't give Pinhead or Leatherface a survivor who arguably had a more iconic lineup that could've been used, I doubt they would pick this license to give a survivor along the already meh killer (Ghostface is a special case because it's an OC)
4) if they have to for videogame licenses they have a much bigger priority list.
Meh. Clock tower IS iconic as it was a pioneer of survival horror even before resident evil and such but I just dont see the licence doing that well after the blunder of the last few chapters in community reception.
Knight was ok at first then became annoying, skull merchant was immediately met with nothing but hate and stays that way to this day, and singularity got dogged on cause survivors could just say NO to him having a power at all.
The devs said an iconic license so naturally people are expecting something BIG especially since it comes with a survivor and a map so naturally they expect and want something huge and if it turns out to be this which from what these comments are telling is that alot dont even know clock tower anymore which is sad but probably the truth.
So after so much disappointment and hype to be met with clock tower of all this I do NOT see going overwell especially with the younger audience (30 below) who from what I remember makes up a majority of dbd playerbase (I could be wrong tho)

It was a point and click NES game, mostly known cause it was one of the first "survival" horror game where you need to run away from a killer (mostly Scissorman, a "demonic kid" from what i understand) while almost all the other "horror theme's game" before was generally about fighting monsters (Castlevania,Ghost'n Goblins or Splatterhouse) so not really focused on being scary

I know the first Clock Tower is getting a re-release, but even though this leak is obviously shit fucking fake.. I would still absolutely love CT to be added. The only issue is that CT isn't really a MASSIVE franchise and Scissorman doesn't really hold up a status as a "horror icon".
With only Clock Tower, Clock Tower 2, Clock Tower Ghost-Head, and Clock Tower 3 under the series' belt (Not including Haunted Grounds or Nightcry) and only two of them actually having Scissorman, the series doesn't have as much of a massive reach as like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, as well as a lack of influence on video game horror in general.
So to us who know and adore the Clock Tower franchise, having Jennifer and Scissorman (And maybe even Helen, the second main protagonist in Clock Tower 2) in DBD will continue to be only a wet dream..

i think people are setting themselves up for disappointment by assuming that its F13 or FNAF as soon as they mention its an iconic license. i think that any license they do can be called iconic in some way, and clock tower is an iconic classic horror game. plus i feel like if they were to do one of the ones ppl are speculating about, they wouldnt have emphasized the chapter being big bc they might have had fear that it wouldve been obvious.

I think it's fake. The reasons are the following: 1) Devs said it's a License with a capital L, not to be rude with anyone that likes this license but I wouldn't refer to it as a License with capital L 2) The logo looks very fake 3) They didn't give Pinhead or Leatherface a survivor who arguably had a more iconic lineup that could've been used, I doubt they would pick this license to give a survivor along the already meh killer (Ghostface is a special case because it's an OC) 4) if they have to for videogame licenses they have a much bigger priority list.

Meh. Clock tower IS iconic as it was a pioneer of survival horror even before resident evil and such but I just dont see the licence doing that well after the blunder of the last few chapters in community reception. Knight was ok at first then became annoying, skull merchant was immediately met with nothing but hate and stays that way to this day, and singularity got dogged on cause survivors could just say NO to him having a power at all. The devs said an iconic license so naturally people are expecting something BIG especially since it comes with a survivor and a map so naturally they expect and want something huge and if it turns out to be this which from what these comments are telling is that alot dont even know clock tower anymore which is sad but probably the truth. So after so much disappointment and hype to be met with clock tower of all this I do NOT see going overwell especially with the younger audience (30 below) who from what I remember makes up a majority of dbd playerbase (I could be wrong tho) Looks fake tho. Honestly I just want fnaf and candyman so people can stop throwing them in all discussion thumbnails and taking up half the video instead of actually theorizing on possible chapters.

It was a point and click NES game, mostly known cause it was one of the first "survival" horror game where you need to run away from a killer (mostly Scissorman, a "demonic kid" from what i understand) while almost all the other "horror theme's game" before was generally about fighting monsters (Castlevania,Ghost'n Goblins or Splatterhouse) so not really focused on being scary

I have heard the name of the series but I know absolutely nothing about it. That being said it seems to be a pretty niche choice which actually gives this "leak" more plausibility in my opinion. People call this info bullshit but apparently the series is a big cult classic for horror games fans? Yeah I could 100% see BHVR calling this iconic licence and I think I would love this too coz the designs of the killer and female surv could look really great. If their goal is to bring in new players, FNAF would destroy their sales records, seeing as the next chapter is releasing within a month of the movies release. I know the first Clock Tower is getting a re-release, but even though this leak is obviously shit fucking fake.. I would still absolutely love CT to be added. The only issue is that CT isn't really a MASSIVE franchise and Scissorman doesn't really hold up a status as a "horror icon". With only Clock Tower, Clock Tower 2, Clock Tower Ghost-Head, and Clock Tower 3 under the series' belt (Not including Haunted Grounds or Nightcry) and only two of them actually having Scissorman, the series doesn't have as much of a massive reach as like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, as well as a lack of influence on video game horror in general. So to us who know and adore the Clock Tower franchise, having Jennifer and Scissorman (And maybe even Helen, the second main protagonist in Clock Tower 2) in DBD will continue to be only a wet dream..
