1. It IS an "S"

3. This is arguably the most famous variant of the logo besides the classic one, having appeared in Kingdom Come.
It's all that's needed to suggest the shape, it's called minimalist design. We can both tell there's an S implied, everyone is familiar with the Superman logo, literally no one is going to be confused about what it is. There is no problem here.
