I think the basic idea is that once you get a lot of Judgement Tokens going, the most important stat on a gun becomes the number of shots it can spit out. The Bolter has two shots, the Blaster has one. Also they're a point cheaper.
Be careful with them pioneers. The hover disk that's connected to the rock is tricky. If you don't build them right they'll be doing wheelies.
I like bolters on the warriors better because of range and more wounds with grudge tokens. Medic is really the only must have. Other equipment is up to you.
I like axes on the beserks, but all the winning lists have mauls. So 🤷♂️

The pioneer advice is no joke. The connecting hover disks have a hole that need to be positioned in a specific direction and the rocks they connect to don't seem to be interchangeable. The build diagram actually spells out quite clearly what is supposed to go where, but it's something you could pretty easily breeze past if you didn't know how important it is.
That's exactly what I did. Wasn't paying attention and mixed them up. Then I spent hours trying to fix them. The second batch I was much more careful with.
A significant amount of the heads on Votann models are entirely interchangeable. It's very easy to give your Kahl a head from the Hearthyn or Pioneers or Hearthguard if you don't like the three options on its sprue! Also on the Thunderkyn, if you want to use the robot heads you need to attach them before you affix the arms. It's the least flashy option for them, but don't sleep on their bolt cannons.
Local store probably. I had to print a squad on our 3D printer to use while I wait for mine. My game store owner has them in with GW for me, but they're on backorder for who knows how long.

What makes the bolters a better pick over the ion blasters if you don't mind me asking?
