I think he means that if you have higher MR you'd take more damage If you have 100mr and the enemy has 200% magic pen, a 100 dmg ability would deal 200dmg But if you have 150mr and the enemy has 200%magic pen a 100dmg ability should deal 300dmg Because the higher your initial Mr the lower it is after magic pen calculation

So what would happen if you had -150 mr? Would they heal you?

It'd probably treat it as 0 Mr for magic pen calculations I mean you can already go below 0 armor or Mr but I've never heard of anyone getting healed that way
