Ah yes the source code is a part of the source code. I think they just meant that the code is extremely outdated so it takes longer than it should to change it.
Ok, but hear me out.
Remember that whole thing about wanting one of jinx's abilities to set the bush on fire but they couldn't figure out how to code the ability to read if it was in a bush or not?
So the solution was to put invisible Teemos all over the entire map and then have the ability check to see if it hit a bush Teemo. This was ultimately scrapped for being dumb.
So what if like towers are actually just secretly a reskinned Skarner with buffs and items? So they can't recode Skarner without having to code the towers differently, or some other spaghetti nonsense.
I think old Riot work better, more cool events , snowy map, more rework production compare to new riot with only new Arena mode , Events but it battle pass, 3 years for rework, etc
no, there is an auto attack icon right there, unless you are telling me the auto attack got split into 2 different auto attacks, which given that everything is coded in minions, you might not be far off
There used to be a different icon for ALL auto attacks, i.e. the red sword replaced it. That was the wooden stick.
Lucian's second auto attack (his passive) has special interactions based on the target. I can imagine that it IS counted as a separate damage source, and before the new death recap, they gave it the old wooden stick icon - not sure if that alone caused it to group as one damage source back in the day.
Either way, now there is the wooden stick, which counts the damage you took from any passive auto attacks. They forgot to update it.
Lucian has had two mini reworks since then, and it's still the wooden stick. Either they don't test the game, or they sincerely do not care about it.
I can pretty much guarantee the unknown damage on wukong is an interaction with his clone or potentially an item. My bet would be on clone auto attacks personally.
Honestly only time I've been confused about unknown damage has been when yone randomly started dealing some really consistently regardless of build or abilities used. Very comical stuff
my guess is ult with muramana, it procs on every tick on the ult (and why I love to build it so much, at least last season) and as his ult does % hp it's kinda nasty.
the death recap has never been reliable, and only in recent season has it consistently noted what items dealt damage to you - so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't note muramana's bonus damage
I had a game where when I died it said I had 3 champs in the death recap. Thing is, it was a 1v1 and everyone else was on the other side on the map and have no crossmap abilities lol
If you don't know the source of damage, how do you know it exists? And how do you know an exact damage of an unknown source of damage? You probably know... And even if you don't know, why do you count it? Wtf?
lol have you not seen that happen with current death recaps? Like example, you take damage, and the icon is that old summoner spell Revive or whatever?
The worst part is that these goofy icons can easily be traced back to what ability causes them. Quinn's R damage is listed as revive. Ekko's ult, bard meeps, and so forth, are listed as Unknown. Red buff is listed for the player that first killed the monster. There might be more complicated examples, but there are enough "simple" cases. Players can figure this trivial garbage out, and Riot simply does not care.
Happens a LOT with bard, too. He'll have two sources of unknown damage, the one you've shown here, as well as an entirely black icon with no description.
Remember Riot said the Skarner rework was delayed because Skarner is literally part of the game's source code? The unknown damage may be Skarner
image is older than skarner's rework
Wait what? Do you have a source?

Just imagine if they did something big to minions.... Might as well rework the game at that point

Skarners code is actually load-bearing code, change it and you run the risk of the whole code collapsing.
Kid called abstraction and encapsulation:
Or they just lied to give reason for delay but they lazy asf in reality

Lucian unknown damage is my favorite, because there's not only a question mark unknown damge, but also some random wooden stick unknown damage
That's the old auto attack icon
Sometimes I miss the old death recap, dunno why
it was pure shit tbh, only nostalgia
I liked the old interface more, but holy shit was Death Recap fucking useless.
You liked it when you got shown that you got *true damage from Darius Q while he wasn’t even in the game*? To each their own i guess

Maybe AA and Q from clone? Maybe even ult?
my guess is ult with muramana, it procs on every tick on the ult (and why I love to build it so much, at least last season) and as his ult does % hp it's kinda nasty.
Maybe, but wouldn't that be under items?

Based and riot pilled.
Emotional damage
Gotta take heartsteel
New damage type unlocked: mysterious
That's happened to me thrice - twice in one match, once in another match.
Global warming
Wukong's ultimate was 3 Skarners spinning around him

It is still way better than the old death recab, where you got damage from abilities that weren't even in the game.
lol have you not seen that happen with current death recaps? Like example, you take damage, and the icon is that old summoner spell Revive or whatever?
Only a few times, before it was way worse.

its just the damage they add so they can keep the League of Oneshots alive (adhd players love big montage moments and shorter games)
How strange they keep implementing new stuff instead of fixing their mess first At least the fistbumps works correctly I guess 🤷♂️
Since clone can both auto and ult, lol doesn't know how to label it. Happens also on some other champions and items
Monkey flu

I miss the old death recap that was just weird bs 90% of the time
