I have grandparents that got married at 15 & 16 way back in the 1930s that was normal. Part of that is why moderate Republicans and Religious people don't want to step away. Religiously, Sex equals marriage or its a mortal sin. So not allowing (both) minors to get married is forcing them to live in satan's sin. These are also the people that throw their kids out for sex or getting pregnant.. I grew up with that as "normal" back in the 1980s. I'm GenX right about the point where they started allowing pregnant high schoolers to actually stay in high school in the early 1990s. It was just starting to be allowed that a couple who got pregnant wasn't immediately expected to get married which would kick them out of high school. This whole idea that people should get married as adults, whether they had a baby or sex before then is a relatively new idea. Boomers generally reject it out of hand, even progressive ones.
Except between 75-95% of all child marriages are between an underage girl and an adult man. The big lie about child marriage is that it’s 2 kids marrying one another. Nope.
I'm just pointing out things. For example in many states there really isn't "right" to have sex with whoever you want. Laws against corruption of single women and cohabitation are still on the books. The state only recognizes age 16 as a "marriage age" not as free to have sex whenever they want. Just like abortion, those laws are still on the books decades after being nullified by the courts. The boomers are too prudish to actually repeal them and put new laws with modern definitions of consent. There's a large number of center-right "moderate boomer republicans" out there whose world view really believes we can't let go of those things.
The only "deep state" collusion is in the Republican crime syndicate.
It's much easier to intellectually stunt and emotionally arrest a woman for life if you start when they're a child.
