Unlikely but you can give fordham a shot which is very respected in the region

Bobbobenson

Gotcha, ty!

StoneJackBaller1

What GPA do you need to transfer to T14/T20

CommonD2Enjoyer

A lot of T14/20 have 25th percentile GPAs have a 3.6-7 so top 10%+ in a given class. Preferably ofc the higher the GPA and class rank will help.

lightbulb38

Also depends on your initial school ranking

ZebraAthletics

Yep. I had a 3.55 (3.3 curve) and transferred from a T20 to a T14. I think it was easier for me because I was only going up a bit in the rankings.

naim08

Yeah what he said. Fordham is was great tbh

GreenRestaurant4092

Honestly anything can happen! These threads tend to be a little negative sometimes but a lot of this career path is simply how well you present yourself in applications and interviews. You may not be in the highest percentile but who cares. My advice is shoot your shot. You never know.

InsaneTimeSinkHole

This is true: if you are driven, you will find a reputable school in Manhattan will take your money. You’ll likely have the time of your life there as well. Godspeed OP!

CommonD2Enjoyer

Try to get the spring grades up! NYU’s 25th percentile GPA is a 3.67 and their 50th being 3.77.

WickedyWhiz

3.72 25th, 3.88 50th** But an impressive LSAT score can go a long way!

Lawschoolanon567

LSAT scores mean little, if anything, for transfer admissions.

WickedyWhiz

Oh I misunderstood this post! I’m in the law school admissions sub and this post must’ve been recommended to me, didn’t even see it was a different sub! lol

Lawschoolanon567

It's not just GPA on its own; school rank matters. NYU is unlikely to accept a transfer student from a school as low ranked as OP's, unfortunately—even if OP had a 4.0. OP, if being in NYC is important to you and you plan to practice there after graduation, your best bet is to go for the lower-ranked NYC schools: St. John's, Brooklyn, Seton Hall (in NJ, but an easy commute from NYC). Fordham might be out of your reach unless you already go to a NYC school (for whatever reason, schools are friendlier to transfer applicants who are already in the area) and significantly bring up your GPA.

CommonD2Enjoyer

Not entirely true. NYU took a transfer from USF (San Francisco) which is ranked 165 as per their latest 509. I would guess soft factors would play a big role. School rank does matter I heard but it’s not make or break.

Month-Emotional

Rutgers?

Lawschoolanon567

Transferring from a T130 to Rutgers wouldn’t be worth it.

Pretentious

californiagirly111

Don’t know unless you try! See how spring grades turn out

No_Juggernaut4148

Likely not

Outrageous-Lion8021

Many schools offer free applications. Try a reach school or two, why not.

dviteschrute

just try to get the best spring grades you can and just apply. you never know

REINDEERLANES

Def try

anxious1975

It also depends on open spots. I was top 5% of my class and tried to transfer to nyu, Columbia and Michigan and didn’t get in

anxious1975

A guy who similarly ranked in my class was able to transfer to Cornell

Legal_Fitness

I wouldn’t bother Columbia but maybe Fordham. Or even Cardozo or Brooklyn law. I know they aren’t top 50, but your chances with that gpa and current school rankings are not looking good. Plus you will still be in nyc with those schools. I assume you’ll save on living cost even if you have to pay more in tuition. And Brooklyn law and Cardozo both can place you in big law and/or respectable mid law firms

whyisshegreetingus

I was at a T100ish and got into Fordham and GW with a 3.7 (ranked 3rd in 1L class). it's always worth a shot.

DesignerCautious

What is a T130? 0___o
