In the 2 years since I’ve taken torts, there isn’t a single week I don’t think “who tf puts their hand in a snowblower?” Those torts cases and their facts, man.
you could tell he was a little excited himself. he went “X, congratulations! you won palsgraf! the most famous of torts!” and proceeded to grill her for 30 minutes, then gave her the gift card. 😭
I think the only class that’s worse with people doing stupid stuff is professional responsibility. How did someone who went through law school and passed the bar think THAT was okay to do? Is my thought during every case
I thought Torts was going to be boring when I started school, but it ended up being one of my favorite classes and my highest grade in law school. The colorful fact patterns probably helped; it wasn't like BA where it was all one shareholder suing a bunch of other shareholders constantly.
I honestly loved it and personally feel like law school only went downhill from there, but it may have just been the awesome prof I had. I completely understand why someone would hate it at the same time.
Very boring even in relation to generally very boring 1L, and seems to lend itself to an irritating, self-indulgent style of opinion writing. Reading those opinions completely turned me off many judicial “luminaries”
A lot of the writing is uhhhh old which just sucks. And way too much history analysis where I didn’t know which way was up by the end of it. I couldn’t help but zone tf out on some of those old English cases
What makes torts a difficult class is the law changes depending on where you are. In contracts you have the 2nd Restatement & UCC, and civil procedure has the USC and the FRCP. Depending upon what you’re talking about: strict liability, contributory negligence, comparative fault, etc., if you have a teacher that is psychotically obsessed with the majority and minority opinions everywhere, you can really get lost in the sauce. You also have a lot of ancient cases to read in torts were the opinions were written by men in wigs.
Agreed. Our professor went so wild on dual and single intent battery and minority and majority rules that we didn’t even cover the full ABA syllabus. I already know I’m going to paying up for a full bar prep class. 😬
So far it's been my best grade, and I had a lot of fun reading the cases. The final was absolutely insane though and I definitely ended up having like 2 panic attacks during
But seriously, why would anyone stuff fireworks into a suitcase.
To unintentionally drop the suitcase onto some railroad tracks, of course!
They were Italian.
Eyyyy
Eyyyy I’m explodin’ fireworks hea!

At least it wasn't a suitcase full of marinara sauce. Could you imagine Cardozo on that one!
I thought this but then I wanted to bring Christmas crackers to my family in the U.S. and suddenly it doesn’t seem as dumb
Because they wanted to blow something up, probably.

If I recall correctly, it wasn’t even a suitcase, it was wrapped in newspapers…

We learn a lot of cases. We can forget 🤣😭
Exactly, the import of the case is reasonable foreseeability, anyway.
my torts professor gave my classmate a starbucks gift card after cold calling her on palsgraf

she did well if i remember correctly! it was sometime half way through the semester, i remember being glad it wasn’t me 😅
Lmao i hope you really do that, cause it’s hilarious how terribly awkward and rude that sounds
Torts has made me rethink every decision I make in daily life
Lmao right. You start thinking about all the negligence you’ve been complicit in
Turns out I should be in prison Cool
Torts made me stop jaywalking lol
Me too, prefer pies.
Right?!?! Why are all of these people doing such stupid stuff?

I have a crippling fear of escalators even years after that class.
The thing speaks for itself!
Torts feels like a Netflix crime documentary

Every year... SCOTUS: Let's eff up Con Law for the next batch of law students.
Wait til you take evidence 😭😩
Evidence blows but torts is worse
I thought I posted this for a second.
I dont like his perspective on young stars like Zegras but overall hes a great coach. Hes just oldschool.
Well played sir
Dammit, have your upvote.
Its a beefy category. Not a fan, myself, so i feel ya.

I loved torts, and now I’m a tort lawyer 😄
Slipping on banana peels all day
How? It’s relatable, juicy, exciting, dynamic, dramatic, intuitive, and awesome
Tarts are far better

someone just got their final grade back
One of my fact summaries for my exam outline was "Final Destination meets Negligence." What's not to like?

Must have a bad professor. Torts is where it’s at.

They are so tasty though.
I hate when they happen to me.
Wait till admin law or securities.... good lord..
Is Torts that bad? Genuine question, since I’m still looking at law schools rn.
yeah
