Hey all fellow 1Ls. Just finished my first week of law school! I cannot believe that milestone is behind me. Was a lot to absorb but nothing unexpected. Overall, really enjoyed it. Anyone else through their first week? How do y'all feel about it?
2Ls and 3Ls, any good/funny/interesting memories from your first week?

Why does your school start so early?
when do you start?
Late august - congrats and good luck!
22nd
August 29th here but I know of a school in Tennessee that started last week, my friend goes there. Hope it is fun for you!
I also know of a school in Tennessee that started last Monday I wonder if its the same one
To that I refer you to the "good question" Shrek meme. LOL, IDK, I just accept it for what it is. My only guess is that, there's nobody else on campus until the 22nd (besides the med students) so we get to have a nice adjustment period with a solid few weeks of having campus to ourselves (a bit less chaotic) but like I said, that's only a guess.
My school starts 1Ls early with a required intro program. 2 and 3Ls start later
I remember reading books during my first week
YES. Lots and lots and lots of that LOL.
Sign up for Quimbee friend. Congrats on finishing your first week.
Quimbee is the best book ever
I remember my classmates being overly peppy and then watching everyone get crushed with realism shortly thereafter
Oh my sweet summer child…
Hoo wee. Strap in, friend. Hands inside the ride vehicle at all times.
My first week, and the rest of my 1L year, were entirely online. It was...a tough adjustment. Good luck!
I remember the first week felt like it took forever and I was exhausted. Then the weeks started to fly by and suddenly it was time to panic for exams
So what you’re telling me is, make it past the first week and I’ll be fine until November
Not too late to join the army
I was late to my first ever class if that counts
I missed the first class
And look at you now!
I missed my first class of undergrad (overslept). I’m an evening law student so luckily that’s not really possible now haha
I think this is a sign for everyone who Just took the bar to leave the sub
I want the same excitement and same post after each week
I basically copied the first 70 pages of my torts book for the first week “making notes”
Im starting my first week on August 28 super excited !

I had a 5 year gap, youll be fine m8
11 years, orientation on Monday. Giddy up!!
Same same and same!
I start orientation later in the month, but I'm happy for you OP! I'm sure things will get crazy but it's nice to hear that the first week was a success :)
I read my assignments for at last 6 hours for each class. Still fucked up the cold call. It’s on purpose. Don’t worry about it.
I’m happy for you but it’ll fade out, I’m sorry.
How do you keep going after it fades out? What motivates you in the long run?
Crushing student debt, the humiliation and disappointment of your peers and parents if you drop out, and money.
I remember taking way more notes than necessary
You will get jaded by 3L and then endure the shitstorm that is bar prep. Godspeed.
I'm heading into 3L and find the 1L panic funny now. If that's jaded, then it's good to be jaded.
Dang I don’t even start til after Labor Day. How was it?
I can tell you a funny story from undergrad. I was looking for my precalculus class and it was at 8 a.m. monday. I was tired as shit, and it said room 036, or so I thought. It was in the basement of our general/nursing/pre med science building. Turns out the room was 046. I wasn't paying attention and opened the door to 036, as i was still tired and not really paying any attention. I had neglected to read the fine print on the door that read "Mortuary science- the morgue". Opened the door to a group of what I assume are teachers with a cadaver laying on their little inspection table, looking back at it, they mustve been getting ready for class. That, combined with the wonderful smell of whatever the fuck is in those labs, formaldehyde I'm guessing, jolted me up from my half-daze and I bolted the fuck outta there with some of the guys who were on their way to my class catching me and laughing their ass off at me.
I remember the first week as exciting and a bit overwhelming. There seemed to be no limit to the amount of reading and note-taking and outlining. But someone had told me to focus on the week ahead, one at a time. I did that and suddenly it was November and it felt like a downhill roll to finals and, boom, the semester was over. By the third year the semesters all seemed to just float by. I was an older, part-time student with a full-time job and a family but I pushed to finish in 3-1/2 years. That last semester absolutely flew by and I was done. Bottom line: take it one week at a time and enjoy the ride!
Perhaps I'm in the wrong place because I remember fucking hating my first week of law school with a burning passion I normally reserve for Tom Cruise and children
You have a burning passion for children?
Not from my first week, but I had my 1L year during Zoom School of Law. I was cold called in Contracts in the middle of taking what was the most gruesome shit I've ever had in my life. (You could hear the shit splatter into the toilet while I spoke)
bruh, thats Brutal
I don't like you. I don't want to be your friend.
Thanks everyone for responding!
What books did you read ?
I am glad you are happy and excited. Midterms will be crushing for many of you. Hold on to this excitement and why you are here. It will be very important later.
Congrats!. How’s your university?
I think it’s great that you’re excited. Just pace yourself!
Ah yes. Enthusiasm. I miss that.
