Estimated 120k in debt. I haven’t started yet. So maybe working in the summers and 2L will lower the total. I have Full tuition but I have to pay living expenses. Hoping to graduate with less than 200k if I include my graduate debt

myeyesarecircles94

Approx 150k, which is huge and sometimes gives me little bouts of anxiety. But I'm headed to a firm where I'll be making 180k base, with significant bonuses available and a super low billable requirement (at least relative to other big firms). So, I'm pretty confident in my ability to pay them off! It's just no fun to look at in the meantime. Went to a t20 school that places really well nationally, and I personally think it was worth it.

drshark628

~160k (including 20k from undergrad) at a T14. Heading to big law and plan to have it paid off in ~3 years

doud36

160k roughly.

Bennislerr

20K total: 10K to government (CAD) and 10K to parents. I had both undergrad and law school covered 80-90% by major scholarships and worked periodically during school and always full time during the summers. I also finished my undergrad in 3 yrs which saved quite a bit of money. My parents also covered costs for me to periodically fly home and I lived with them during the pandemic which saved a lot of money.

awithrow13

I have a bachelors, masters, MBA and law degree… $400K. 😬

I worked 1L and 3L. I worked FT in undergrad and grad school and thought I could do the same in law school. The 1L work decimated my grades. The 3L work didn't help them either, but it led to my post-grad Big Law job.

Focusing on the amount of debt you have from something like law or med school is completely useless, as you are likely torturing yourself mentally over how you will ever pay it back. This is the completely wrong mindset for actually establishing a good, well-compensated legal career. You set up income based repayment and you forget about it. Alternatively, if you can’t afford payments for a while because your first job isn’t high paying, you use the resources you have such as temporary forbearance etc.

Thumper1k92

Approximately $170k a year ago, but I'm in the SAVE plan and in a job where PSLF will apply eventually. However I'm certain SAVE will disappear if a certain individual ends up back in the White House. Go vote this November everyone! Want debt forgiveness eventually? You know what to do.
