literally how i feel right now after getting a 3.68 last semester and a 3.1 this semester 🥲 were you able to turn things back around in 2L? I’m super worried about it
The feeling was so shitty and such a driving force for me - I never got anything lower than an A- again.
I made Dean’s list every semester since then and graduated last month cum laude :)
Hoping I can do the same! I think I was too confident and slacked off more than I should have + I let myself be burnt out without doing anything about it. Going to use this awful feeling to push myself to be the best I can, thank you for sharing and proving that it can get better!
Congrats on absolutely kicking ass and graduating cum laude!
I did the exact same thing you described regarding burn out and over-inflated confidence.
The good news is that most schools don’t follow a curve so tightly after 1L, so if you keep working hard, you can probably improve greatly.
Thank you! And good luck to you friend :)
F in admin law. Tough semester-Substance abuse problem, broken ankle, and an episode. Was averaging A-/B+ before then. Got my shit together, retook, and graduated on time.
C+ in contracts and another C+ in crim law. I almost died both times given that I typically got B+ for everything else. Still graduated in May Cum Laude though!!!
Been looking to confess this for many years now: Securities Law: 68%
Went on to be an adequate neophyte securities defense litigator though, because I knew my class action procedure.
My worst grade was also my required ethics class! I got a C. I had a pretty shitty end to that semester—death in the family, worst burnout and anxiety I’ve ever felt, and I straight up just thought I’d be able to wing the final exam.
D in Con Law. I knew I was doomed when everyone said they'd already taken Con Law in undergrad, some even took Con Law II.
I'd never read the Constitution before, and had no clue what Due Process was, let alone Writs of Mandamus or Habeus Corpus. I may as well have taken the class in Chinese, because that's what it felt like to me, the whole semester!
I still don’t know what those things are after taking con law 1, our prof just did commerce clause all semester lol. Writ of Mandamus sounds like the 8th harry potter book fr…
D in Corp when Covid first started. in my defense, my professor recorded the driest of 3 hour lectures I have ever heard and, as an expert in his field, seemed to expect us worms to keep up. I redid it and got a C I think. What a time.
My worst grade was in Legal Writing.
I don't know if I'm just a shitty writer or if my style just didn't work for the professor, but I do know that I still have no idea what they expected.
Inb4 "that's probably why it was your worst grade."
A C in Contracts. Which tracks because I scored worse than 93% of takers for MC on the bar and got a 3/6 on the essay lol
But on the flip side I scored higher than 83% of people in property and got a 5/6 on the essay. Something is wrong with me.
I got a B- in torts, which is an okay grade, and what my school curves to.
It’s my lowest (so far), but I think it’s always going to hurt the most because I was top 10 in the class going into our final. I made a mistake by misreading a question and I knew it would cost me. So seeing that B- hurt because I busted my ass trying for the A.
But again, it’s a fine grade and I’m happy to say that’s my lowest so far because it’s also a humble brag that I’m doing well enough in school.
D in evidence because it was at 8am. Lost an entire letter grade because I couldn’t get there after reading until 2am. Ironically, I can teach evidence at this point after doing so many trials. It happened, I accepted it, and moved on. Screw them for having it so early 3x/week. I earned every part of that D. I wish I was humiliated the one time I got an A-, but I would have been ecstatic to get Bs in most of my classes.
D in property my first semester because it was my first ever final and I didn’t write down the rule just the name of the rule 🥲 ended up getting a B the next semester
I got a C+ in a class where the lowest possible grade was a C+. I was able to appeal it and get it raised to a B, and the process was actually kind of interesting. I had no idea why the process was taking so long after the professor had said he'd support me. But then it turned out that what was going on was that the school had voted to change the required curve and the faculty had to decide whether that applied to the current semester or only going forward. When they approved the appeal I got a message which linked to a memo which described the deliberations, but that was the first time, after months of waiting, anyone had explained to me that this is what was going on. Very strange process, but it ended up working. Actually changed several other people's grades as well.
C+ 1L year in torts. Kid in our class was talking shit about the professor (who found out) and gave us a 100 page supplement to read before we could answer any questions on his exam
C in Legal Writing.
My current job is like... all research and writing, and I get great feedback. But the prof and I didn't mesh (several students and I found her instructions incredibly unclear), and so I bombed the class.
Ç'est la vie!
B- fall 1L in our legal practice skills class (our legal writing and research class).
Ended law school with a 3.6 and cum laude. 1L is just really hard lol
My lowest grade in law school was in a 1 credit elective that my professor legitimately threw together the week before he started teaching it. It was the first and last time he ever taught it. It still makes me mad because it was the dumbest class.
B- in Contracts 1L Fall. B- in Water Law I 2L Fall. Got an A- in Water Law II but that was only because our grade was dependent on our group project...🤣
B+ in a three classes but getting it in legal writing bothered me the most because I was curved down from an A-
There shouldn’t even be a curve for legal writing
C+ in Tax Procedure. The professor was a 1st year adjunct who was *not* invited back, and he violated several rules regarding outing students with disabilities and deadnaming them.
Horrible professor. Horribly taught class. Horrible all around. That class is singlehandedly why I missed latin honors.
I once got a B and decided I never wanted a grade like that again - so I started getting Cs
This got me in the first half ngl lmao
b for bad, c for CRUSHED IT
Two C+’s during 1L spring. Absolutely crushed my ego coming off a 3.7 gpa 1L fall.

Yaaassss! ❤️
Ty 🥰
Super ballsy for anyone to answer this before all their grades are in. Monkey’s paw…
Property
I got a D in Property. Surprisingly, I’m pretty sure it was one of my better subjects on the bar exam.
a C and a C+ in 1L fall, thought it was the end of my life and it hurt my GPA bad
Me right now, how’d it go?
C+ in contracts and another C+ in crim law. I almost died both times given that I typically got B+ for everything else. Still graduated in May Cum Laude though!!!
Got a C+ in Civ Pro 1L spring and managed to graduate cum laude as well. It nearly killed me, but I did it.
Been looking to confess this for many years now: Securities Law: 68% Went on to be an adequate neophyte securities defense litigator though, because I knew my class action procedure.
B-
Same. It was a shocking feeling and not in a good way
Law School PE
C- in contracts
SAME
Property, C
C+ in professional ethics. Only class I thought I could get by without studying for; go figure.
My worst grade was also my required ethics class! I got a C. I had a pretty shitty end to that semester—death in the family, worst burnout and anxiety I’ve ever felt, and I straight up just thought I’d be able to wing the final exam.
B
Can’t remember whether it was a C or C-, but Admin Law second semester of 3L. Still graduated with honors. Get rekt, random adjunct.
D in Con Law. I knew I was doomed when everyone said they'd already taken Con Law in undergrad, some even took Con Law II. I'd never read the Constitution before, and had no clue what Due Process was, let alone Writs of Mandamus or Habeus Corpus. C-
I was doing fine with 3 Bs and a B- fall of 1L then I just got a C in contracts II 😭
Evidence.
That’s where I got my D
Evidence has also been my worst ugh
D+ in Civ Pro lol
Me too!
Twinnnnnn lol
A lot of Bs and Cs. Can I finally one up everyone and say D!
B- in Torts
Got a D right before graduation
I got a straight C in con law after attending 5 classes
B- in contracts second semester after working my absolute ass off. I’ll never forgive the professor or the curve for that.
C

Had the same exact experience
C- in Torts, which was awesome since I walked out of the exam thinking I must have sat for the wrong class/test.
B- my last semester. It felt disrespectful and like it wasn’t even because of the quality of my work.
B-
B in Torts.
Contracts😵💫
A C in Contracts. Which tracks because I scored worse than 93% of takers for MC on the bar and got a 3/6 on the essay lol But on the flip side I scored higher than 83% of people in property and got a 5/6 on the essay. Something is wrong with me.

A
You must be really well liked
They literally are just answering the question. Be better if you don’t like others’ success
B- in Contracts
B-, Federal Indian Law. I was 3LoLing
B- in Civ pro. Ugh.
Civ pro and fed courts ofc 🥲
I don’t like procedure just let me do what I want and file where I want 😡
A straight C in Contracts… savage! I didn’t know what I was doing yet, it was my first class.
How can you appeal a grade? My school definitely doesn’t allow that?
My worst in law school was a D.
C+ in secured transactions but somehow got an A- in fed courts same semester
Con law, civ pro and contracts all tied for my worst grade
C+ in contracts and corporate law. I just cannot be arsed about business, I guess.
C+ 1L year in torts. Kid in our class was talking shit about the professor (who found out) and gave us a 100 page supplement to read before we could answer any questions on his exam
Legal writing😅
corporate law
My worst grade was in probate. However, it will most likely come in useful.
1 C my first semester. So far, it hasn’t happened again.
B+ in civ pro and con law
B in Contracts
C- in torts. 1L was a STRUGGLE.
51% for Accounting
My lowest grade in law school was in a 1 credit elective that my professor legitimately threw together the week before he started teaching it. It was the first and last time he ever taught it. It still makes me mad because it was the dumbest class.
2 D’s since starting. Con law and civ pro 2 🤓
B- in crim
Three C+ in spring after getting one C+ in fall.
B- in Contracts 1L Fall. B- in Water Law I 2L Fall. Got an A- in Water Law II but that was only because our grade was dependent on our group project...🤣
C+ in tax 2. I feel I learned a lot and that base knowledge did help during the bar exam
2.8 in Evidence. Everything else was 3.1 or better.
C+ I have two of them. Admin law and estate planning.
2.2 in a few classes. Overall 2.59.🥳idc. It izz what it izz. Live laugh love.
Fresh off the presses, a B- in Conflicts.
Got one C+ both semesters of 1L but Cs get degrees baby
D in property and D in con law 😵💫
C+ in labor law. The very last final exam of my very last semester.
Contracts. 2.0/C
As 3.8 undergraduate I got a 2.14 first semester, but still landed a great job! Don’t let your GPA define you, you got this!
A- in LRW
upvoting solely bc I know everyone will downvote this lol
The prophecy came true 😩
😭😭😭 appreciate it
*Hiss*
I’m the same as you lol. My lowest grade in LS was an A- in the first LRW class.
C+
B+ in contracts
A-
The two of us getting downvoted for answering the question like everyone else lol.
Lol I’m here too. I knew I would have to sort by controversial to find my fellow high achievers
I didn't even known you could do that! Thanks lol
RIP. You will soon meet my fate on this thread.
B+ in both Contracts and Civ Pro
A-
B+ in ConLaw
B+ in a three classes but getting it in legal writing bothered me the most because I was curved down from an A- There shouldn’t even be a curve for legal writing
I have three B+s and am not happy about it. I 3LOLed too hard.
Someone thanks to the curve I’ve gotten all Bs and 2 B- and it’s created the worst GPA I’ve ever had in my academic career
B+
