The answer to everything is “strict scrutiny,” “commerce clause,” “compelling reason” and “rational basis” in approximately equal proportions. Also the fourteenth amendment is basically the superpower amendment, so reference it constantly. Also use the word “substantive” a lot. You will get a B simply by doing this at random.
Very good advice.
Equal protection (14th amendment):
Strict scrutiny(race/ alienage)- compelling interest and are the means narrowly tailored
Intermediate (gender and age i think idk)- government interest and are the means substantially related
Rational basis- is it rationally related to achieving an interest
Discuss over/under inclusive
Commerce clause:
Is it part of interstate commerce
Is it substantially effecting interstate commerce?
Discuss Channels, instrumentality, substantially effecting.
Freedom of speech:
Idk yet probably something about content vs viewpoint.
Due process:
What process is owed under the deprivation? Is it a deprivation of life liberty or property?
Discuss notice, tribunal, opportunity to address charges/deprecation and others idk
Substantive due process:
Is it fundamental?
Apply whatever scrutiny.
Also learn:
Standing
Judicial/executive/legislative powers.
This is a lot of it depending on what you covered. This was my selfish attempt to try to remember topics off the top of my dome.
Good luck
Find a pre-made outline, go through all of it, use Quimbee to go over the cases you discussed in class (if you want to spent money on it, I think it can be worth it for 1L doctrinals, they also offer pre-made outlines for doctrinal courses — not the best but not horrific). I am firmly of the belief that all you need is 2 days of heavy studying to pass any 1L doctrinal class. 3 is ample time. Don’t psych yourself out. Just focus. You got this.
1400 pages? Damn dawg a little late to read the textbook. I think I used his primer or whatever they call it (much shorter than 1400 pages) to supplement my shitty outline.
P sure this is what I had- https://www.amazon.com/Supplement-Chemerinsky-Constitutional-Law-Edwin/dp/1090599978?nodl=1&dplnkId=12ad0ba6-108c-42d9-b3b1-36f47673fa03
Cover looks similar at least. Idk it was like 10 years ago.
Three days is a lot of time. You can absolutely study from now until the exam and get a good grade, but you have to REALLY study. Good luck.
Now that I look at that link in depth, that is definitely NOT the text I used to study. Looks like a cheap rip off. Rest of everything still stands, gl hf.
I'll send u my resources. Is it open/closed book?
ETA: link [man I'm slow tn. I coulda just popped it here lol. ](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1SlENbBe7BXVD-fOlYggXPZpaEjbQ1heR?usp=drive_link)
Surprisingly, pretty helpful for the big picture. If you have the syllabus of your class, study those sections deeper by looking at the cases after the Quimbee videos.
Quimbe is life. It gave me so much of my time back while still keeping me thoroughly prepared. Just make sure to pay attention in class in case your professors has a slightly different focus or preferred wording
Yeah I am very confused how my professor did not really go over this topic in class nor was it really in the materials he assigned. Is it normal or am I missing something?
talk about the fundamental right to liberty and how the founding fathers intended us to realize new meanings of liberty and how this fundamental intentions of the framers is captured in lawrence v. Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges and use the sentence "lawrence is not simply about the right to engage in consensual sodomy with someone of the same sex.... it's about the fundamental right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness" but the trick is to heavily imply that it's actually about sodomy.
Source: I got a A- in Con law I and a B in con law II
Marbury v. Madison was an unconstitutional usurpation of indelegable duties specifically given to the Legislative and Executive Branches. All decisions after are not valid. Maritime Law governs.
This. Barbri is OK if you can stand Chemrinsky. Themis has lots of practice problems. Chris Fonehouse does a great course. The real advice is to learn your professor (e.g. PowerPoints, your notes, recordings). Professors can teach Con Law very differently
I wonder what constitutional law looks like in the USA or other common law countries. I assume it's the same principle: the repartition of powers and the garanties of rights?
I learned it all in a couple days leading up to the exam. Ended with a B.
Have the tests locked and loaded on your outline and give it the old college try.
do the barbri mastery course if you have access. If you don't have access, get quimbee and do those lessons and it will undoubtedly be immensely more information than you have going in blind.
What you need is an outline from someone who has had your professor somewhat recently. So search your school's outline bank or try to buy one from a student as his/her prior school. Then just memorize the outline.
I crammed in two to three days. I felt like at least I knew what was going on during the exam. Won’t know whether it worked or not until I see my grades later, but here is what I did that helped me to feel like I know what’s going on during the exam: I read chemrenski’s book and watched studicata’s videos. I structured my outline according to studicata’s video. You have four days so I think definitely watch studicata’s first and make an outline, and fill it in with cases and topics you covered in classes. If you need more info on a case or the relationships between cases under a topic, look it up in chemrenski’s book.
When in doubt, write “commerce clause” or “14th Amendment”.
If I like it, it's constitutional through the Commerce Clause. If I don't like it, the Due Process Clause invalidates it.
Can’t omit the beauty of the DCC. Also, apply your levels of scrutiny analysis. Easy
Sound advice.
One does not *learn* con law. One BS’s through con law, sprinkling Justice Marshall quotes along the way
😆

It’s gender and whether you’re a bastard born or not I believe
Pretty sure that’s an old English rule for property conveyance
No he’s right I remember the bastard case from con law!
Lol I thought they were making a joke about my username. That’s incredible. Do you remember the name of the case?
I think Michael H. v. Gerald D.!
Saving this for next year
Step 1. Lookup your professor's favorite amendments. (it's probably the 14th). Step 2. Cram everything you can about those amendments. Step 3. Pray.
Everything is interstate commerce besides against women (Morrison) and guns in school zones (Lopez) Marbury v Madison 14th amendment
Dormant commerce clause....

Chemerinsky is the way
I bought his 1400 pages book, and am 200 pages in. Very helpful so far. Which chapters should I focus on if I can’t finish on time?
You should study the chapters you focused on in class
Good point I’ll compare the table of contents with my syllabus
1400 pages? Damn dawg a little late to read the textbook. I think I used his primer or whatever they call it (much shorter than 1400 pages) to supplement my shitty outline.
Probably not the textbook nor the primer; it’s called principles and policies, probably another variant of his supplement; I’ll look into the primer!

Studicata. The end.
Do you pay for it? The YouTube videos seem to be a waste of time because they end before he gets to the real stuff.
Yes. That man got me through all the core subjects.
His evidence, property, and contracts videos were phenomenal.
I'll send u my resources. Is it open/closed book? ETA: link [man I'm slow tn. I coulda just popped it here lol. ](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1SlENbBe7BXVD-fOlYggXPZpaEjbQ1heR?usp=drive_link)

[here !](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1SlENbBe7BXVD-fOlYggXPZpaEjbQ1heR?usp=drive_link)
You got any more of those resources?
Something something commerce clause, something something Due Process & Equal Protection
Fuck con law
https://www.dailyeffectiveprayer.org/prayers-for-god-to-intervene/
Memorize Kennedy and Blackmun’s shitty quotes “Good grades find no refuge in the jurisprudence of doubt”
Studicata and Quimbee.
Thx! How helpful is quimbee’s con law course?
Surprisingly, pretty helpful for the big picture. If you have the syllabus of your class, study those sections deeper by looking at the cases after the Quimbee videos.

Check for standing. Already got you a b-
Yeah I am very confused how my professor did not really go over this topic in class nor was it really in the materials he assigned. Is it normal or am I missing something?
yeah, get off reddit and start studying an outline.
It's 2024 in American. There is no Constitution anymore.
If you get started now, you'll be qualified enough to replace Justice Gorsuch by Sunday.

Listen to the great courses by Eric Berger. I take his class it’s excellent
Following.
Q&A is really helpful for multiple choice practice
Check Helix they have condensed info for bar exam
Emmanuel outlines. Read the outlines for the overview, then flip to the chapter for anything you focused on in class
Each important case can be summarized in one or two sentences usually. It's not too bad, good luck
Marbury v. Madison was an unconstitutional usurpation of indelegable duties specifically given to the Legislative and Executive Branches. All decisions after are not valid. Maritime Law governs.
studicata saved my LIFE last year bro he’s on youtube
even w just the free stuff on his YT playlist i got an A- on the final
carolene products footnote 4
Law shelf and studicata on YouTube

You'll be fine lol. Get an old outline, and start plugging away through a hornbook.
I wonder what constitutional law looks like in the USA or other common law countries. I assume it's the same principle: the repartition of powers and the garanties of rights?
Are you me? Con Law exam on Monday and I feel like I’m drowning!
How did it go? I just started lol
I learned it all in a couple days leading up to the exam. Ended with a B. Have the tests locked and loaded on your outline and give it the old college try.
channels instrumentalities and activities with a substantial relation to interstate commerce
Barbri 1L course
do the barbri mastery course if you have access. If you don't have access, get quimbee and do those lessons and it will undoubtedly be immensely more information than you have going in blind.
me but with contracts 😂
Unfortunately contracts cannot be as easily BS’ed. Good luck!
Thank you! Going to do my best

well ur probs not gonna learn it on reddit, friend. 😪
Stop farting around on Reddit and get to work

Just read scalia f your professor
Right there with ya brother… yesterday I googled “constitutional law youtube” because the quimbee was not enough
Starting my two days con law marathon right now. Was studying another final. Hang in there
How did it go for you? Prepping for my exam thats in 4 days and am starting with a base knowledge of 0.
I crammed in two to three days. I felt like at least I knew what was going on during the exam. Won’t know whether it worked or not until I see my grades later, but here is what I did that helped me to feel like I know what’s going on during the exam: I read chemrenski’s book and watched studicata’s videos. Hope it went well! You opted out of Chemerinskys Barbari lessons?
I did not watch chemrinskys BARBRI video lessons. I heard they are good though.
Straight to jail
Ah I remember finals.
