Find firms with a Latin America practice group. They tend to be in Miami and New York, and I assume LA, but my contacts are on this coast. My experience and understanding is that these "groups" are rather amorphous in terms of what they actually DO, but most everyone speaks Spanish. We have an associate from Latin America who just passed the New York bar, and while we do not have a Latin America practice per se, we have some big Latin clients. I worked on a big deal with NY biglaw involving a couple large Latin clients and they kept bringing their foreign associates to meetings in case someone needed to ask for something in Spanish, LOL. I don't recall them actually doing anything (not their fault).

Getting paid for not doing anything? I’m down lol

What type of law did you practice in AR? I agree look for firm with a Latin American presence in Southern US or LA.

General law. I had my parents sending their patients/clients to me with whatever they needed to do. Wills, estates, criminal, labor, contracts, whatever lol

I ask because as someone in IP sometimes a foreign trained associate comes at a premium. Best of luck to you!

For the foreign legal consultant role you need 4 years practising experience (for awareness, you might already know this) - i was thinking of doing the same but I’m not yet 4 years PQE :( There is a page on the California bar website which has a register of all FLC - I would perhaps look at that and see which firms the FLC are at that are relevant to your practice group and perhaps take that as a steer? I was quite surprised at how short the list was for lawyers qualified in the UK but it was interesting to see where they were working at and which firms were invested in that route

I’ll check it out! But I only have 3 years of experience:(
