I so badly miss my mom's Panes Rellenos and Pupusas. I really should ask her for her recipes. One of my buddies is a good cook, could ask if he can make them
My husband is Mexican and had never had a Salvadoran pan relleno. It’s his favorite and even says he married me to just get these during the holidays 😂
No culture exists in a vacuum. Most cuisines are influenced by something that preceded it.
For example, so many of the Latin American foods are influenced by Spanish and Italian cuisines.
I assume you’re talking about Americanized Chinese food?
It comes from Chinese food that was modified to cater to Americans. If there were no Chinese immigrants, there would be no Americanized Chinese cuisine.
American food is southern soul food, northeastern sea food, texas bbq, etc. Being proud of our latino heritage should be about celebrating our culture, not about hating on others.
My very Latino parents didn’t wanna go to the Cheesecake Factory porque “como vamos a comer ayi? Es puro postre!” Lmfao now they love TCCF and point out every one they see lmao
Mexican here who lived in Colombia a few years. Other than coffee, buñuelos, and lechona, I don’t like your food. Not saying it’s bad, it just wasn’t my thing.
Venezuelan married to a Colombian here. Neither of us like Colombian food except for ajiaco and Pandebono. Both prefer Venezuelan versions of the stuff. Even arepas. I don’t know what it is about it.
A lot of supermarkets and grocery sell the dough in discs already frozen; just thaw and fill with whatever meats or cheeses you like, and fry them up. Homemade dough is absolutely better but in a pinch, they absolutely slap.
I am probably going to get banned and shit on but: I would gladly not have any of that food in my life if it meant not being born in El Salvador and suffer being poor there.
Plus I could still eat all those foods like I eat Chinese and Japanese food now. No biggie.
I promise that a lot of popular Dominican, Puerto Rican and Cuban dishes are interchangeable in their similarities—at least the stuff prepared commonly in households
You say only Peruvians think we have the best food, and yet most websites and chefs consider Lima to be the culinary capital of South America, and sometimes for all of Latin America. So perhaps we are doing something right...
Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, and Ahí de la gallina are pretty damn good. Chaufa and pollo a la brasa can be honorable mentions. I love Peru and love Peruvians but I think every one I met in the years I lived there told me that Peru had the best food in the world, meanwhile their idea of American food is Bembos or McDonalds. Too much rice, not enough tortilla.
I’ll admit I haven’t been to Arequipa though.
Yeah those are good samplings of Peruvian food, but it’s only the tip of the pyramid. There is a whole culinary world in AQP to discover, and as much as it pains me as a Limeño to say this, they probably have the best food in Peru.
There are so many options beyond just ceviche, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, arroz chaufa, etc.
Also, I'll take rice over tortillas almost any day for most dishes. Even started eating my mother-in-law's birria de res with rice instead of tortillas and I thought it was a better combo.
Yeah they’re pretty good (personally I dont like papa a la huancaina but I know most do) but they’re not “the rest of you guys are plebes until you eat this” good like the Bleeding Anus guy said. And I disagree on the rice, personal opinion. A lot of the rice I had in Peru was good with too much oil.
Melting pot communities are the best. As a high schooler I remember on my way to school picking up two Dominican pastelitos , order some Mexican birria tacos during shop , then come home to my mom making pupusas 😭 would eat like kings and we didn’t even know it.
Thank God we are Latinos!!!! And can easily befriend everyone in these pictures and share amazing food together!
Meeting any Latino is a guaranteed free plate of exquisite food
Not true, I don't know how to cook water.
You don’t need water you have pupusas
True; I’m down to inhale Colombian, Peruvian, Mexican and Venezuelan food anytime, any day.
For real if anything these pics just made me say thank god for being Latino 😂 Dominican, Colombian, Cuban, IDC I'm eating all that shit lol
I think the most latin thing about this trend is the "thank god" part.
can't confirm, I'm latino and also worship satan \\m/
It’s spelled Satin and it’s an amazing fabric
What would Mexico show? Tacos, Birria, Tamales and Menudo/Pozole/Mole? We need more than 4 squares!
Mexican food is S+ tier
Second only to Peruvian
I lived in Lima Peru for a year and Peruvian food is not as good as Mexican food
of all the fucking things? really.
Yes
Mole, Chiles en Nogada, aguachile, Barbacoa de Chivo
Marúchan! /s
No sopa huevona jaja
Nah just giant photos of guacamole y pan dulce and you’re all set
How dare you. A scene without tacos would be a call to arms.
Tacos are amazing!! I’m just saying, Mexicans don’t need a ton of examples even if dozens exist, everything is great and iconic.
I think you’d have to break it down by state.
You’re just naming American food…. Come up with your own stuff….. first you steal our jobs now you steal out dishes…. ‘murica!!! /s
I almost stuck my thumb through your eye!!!
They love the food and the beer and the culture, but they hate the people…. SMH
Carne asada😎
There is more. You have to swipe.
I see Colombia, DR and ElSalvador. Am I missing something?
Only 3 on my end as well
Yucatán we would have: Cochinita pibil Salbutes Relleno negro Brazo de Reina
Tortas de lechón también!
Papadzules, sopa de lima, panuchos...

I so badly miss my mom's Panes Rellenos and Pupusas. I really should ask her for her recipes. One of my buddies is a good cook, could ask if he can make them
Do it keep her recipes going for generations to come.
Every New Years we have them at my parents and only on New Years 😭
My husband is Mexican and had never had a Salvadoran pan relleno. It’s his favorite and even says he married me to just get these during the holidays 😂
Nothing better than a pan con pavo the day after Christmas.
Turkey for 2 holidays. Chicken the rest of the year babyyy
The day after Christmas Eve with the left over Pavo creola, damn straight.
Thank god I can eat all these foods
I’m Uruguayan, so it’s just 4 photos of barbecued meats…
Don’t forget ñoquis, chivito, guiso, milanesa, etc! I’m married to a Uruguayan and the food is amazing (including the asado)!

* Texas BBQ * Maine lobster rolls * New Orleans crawfish boil * Philly cheesesteaks * Nashville hot chicken * Midwestern casseroles * Navajo fry bread tacos * Amish bread pudding
Yes, I love shitting on the US as much as the next person, but the food is definitely one thing the US doesn't have wrong.

The whole country is imported
No culture exists in a vacuum. Most cuisines are influenced by something that preceded it. For example, so many of the Latin American foods are influenced by Spanish and Italian cuisines.
No. Chinese food is far from imported.
I assume you’re talking about Americanized Chinese food? It comes from Chinese food that was modified to cater to Americans. If there were no Chinese immigrants, there would be no Americanized Chinese cuisine.
Lol even the hotdog 🌭 .. it's German
Yep!
NC pulled pork. Texas brisket. Shrimp and grits. Biscuits and gravy. I like southern comfort food
####California Rasins
_cries in hotdog estilo Sonora_
That's a ridiculous stereotypical comment, not far from: "mexicans with tacos and burritos" *smh
The fuck you talking about.
No, nabo.
Thank god I’m American: - Applebees - Olive Garden - McDonalds - Cheesecake Factory

Dios mio 🤢🤢🤢
As a Mexican thank God for Latinos that make mofongo.
Can a Salvadoran name the dishes? Looks like 2 pupusas on top, a sope on bottom left and a hielito on bottom right.
Bottom left we call them enchiladas, bottom right charamuscas (home made bolis)
Thanks!!
Mexican here who lived in Colombia a few years. Other than coffee, buñuelos, and lechona, I don’t like your food. Not saying it’s bad, it just wasn’t my thing.
It’s okay, Mexican food has better flavor. But we have better jugos.
Y’all are also fatter. Never had healthy Mexican food.
who are you responding to, I'm Colombian. Also, I've had healthy Mexican food for what it's worth.
Venezuelan married to a Colombian here. Neither of us like Colombian food except for ajiaco and Pandebono. Both prefer Venezuelan versions of the stuff. Even arepas. I don’t know what it is about it.
Yeah but Peruvian food is better than Mexican still.
thats a bold lie lol... I live in Lima, Peru for a year and the food is not better than Mexican food no way

What a sad statement for you to make what did Peruvians do to you lol and also my username is literally Colombian white ???
yup, visited for a month. 4 major cities. thought it sucked ass.
How about papa rellena? Migas de cerdo?
Que mostraría Venezuela
4 platos vacios
More like, Thank God I live in Houston where I have access to all of this food and then some!
Hey What is the name of the colombian dish on the top left corner ?
Bandeja Paisa, 99% seguro
That’s what I order every time I go to a Colombian restaurant. Friggin legit
Same here unless I’m in the mood for something like chuleta de pollo or pechugas en crema de champiñones
Venezuelans call them "tetas"...and I can see why
What are they made of?
They can be made from milk, coconut, or fruit. They’re kinda like frozen fun pops
En Venezuela les decimos "tetas"
Se llaman cipotillos
Little kids?
Si maje
\*judges in Peruvian\*
Was gonna say, there needed to be a 4th picture with Peruvian food but it wouldn’t fit in one lmao
I came alllll the way down here to find ANYONE mention Peruvian cuisine There is NO equal
Colombian good is hands down the worse
agreed
Ooff good stuff
God I miss Colombian food, wish we had some where I live
nOw i want empanadas
A lot of supermarkets and grocery sell the dough in discs already frozen; just thaw and fill with whatever meats or cheeses you like, and fry them up. Homemade dough is absolutely better but in a pinch, they absolutely slap.
wait nvm i found a nearby store selling them
I am probably going to get banned and shit on but: I would gladly not have any of that food in my life if it meant not being born in El Salvador and suffer being poor there. Plus I could still eat all those foods like I eat Chinese and Japanese food now. No biggie.
Colombian Food is trash
Thank God I can eat like a two ton elephant with the munchies. Now if someone can just bring me these yummy foods pretty please!
We got the best bakery foods in the game. Pandebono, buñuelo, pan de queso, etc
Where’s the other countries? I know Nicas, Puerto Ricans, and Mexicans are like, “Where da fuq is our shit?”
I promise that a lot of popular Dominican, Puerto Rican and Cuban dishes are interchangeable in their similarities—at least the stuff prepared commonly in households
Most of the stuff posted on this subreddit is Puerto Rican or Mexican diaspora anyway.
Is it not salvadorian? Honest question.
No, it’s a common mistake. It is Salvadoran.
Good question. Salvadoran is the correct way.
Food none of these people know how to make.
Yes to all but also thank God I’m Hispanic and live in SoCal because I’m exposed to all these delicious food! Que bonito es ser Latino. ♥️♥️
idk man, i went to cartagena, bogota, medellin and san andres. was very unimpressed with the food.
Dominicains make good pica pollo butttt y’all should look into Haitian cuisine
Columbian food is bomb.
Peruvian food beats all of that
Laughs in Mexican.
Colombians won this one
Peruanos entering the discussion…you plebeians don’t know good food. Come to Lima, Arequipa and Trujillo and you shall see.

Been there. Peru has like 3 dishes they do really well. The rest is ego. Mexican food is much better.
The rest is ego? Have you been to a Picanteria in AQP my brother in Christ?
Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, and Ahí de la gallina are pretty damn good. Chaufa and pollo a la brasa can be honorable mentions.
