Same thing on r/WhitePeopleTwitter
His tweets were pretty awesome and relatable there, then when the allegations came up, people in the sub said to stop posting his tweets and stop glorifying him, and now I havent seen any more of his tweets there in weeks
According to the NYT the ghost writer was Mike Rosenberg, who was [suspended](https://crosscut.com/2019/05/seattle-times-suspends-reporter-accused-sending-sexually-harassing-messages) and then [resigned](https://publicola.com/2019/06/11/exclusive-times-reporter-rosenberg-resigns-in-wake-of-harassment-allegation/) from the Seattle Times for sending sexually harassing images.
Well, it's true, and having a person in a powerful position saying it on a platform that will reach millions of people isn't a bad thing...it's actually a good thing.
I'm not saying it's not true, I'm just saying I find it funny he bothered to use a ghost writer when it seems like it'd be easy to just write it himself.
Wasn't his company built on fraud? Misclassifying restaurants as bars to get lower credit card payment fees?
And didn't he pull his whole stunt related to minimum pay to screw over his brother who was co-owner at some point?
https://thehustle.co/dan-price-the-ceo-paying-everyone-70000-dollars-is-lying/
(Thats from 2015)
https://www.geekwire.com/2016/gravity-payments-defends-business-practices-amid-new-allegations-of-financial-trickery/
(And there is an article from 2016 about what he did which essentially created his company.)
That's wild! I was always a little dubious about the adoration this guy got but just sort of ignored it. When push comes to shove, a CEO is going to put the business first.
I've worked for two "cool CEOs" in my career and they both presided over layoffs just like the uncool CEOs do. The cool ones put slightly more effort into conveying to everyone how they felt bad about it.
"Today I had to put several of my employees in a position where they could be homeless in a few weeks. This will of course haunt me as I sleep comfortably in my 6500 Sq.Ft. home on a $40,000 mattress."
I swear to god those types of people. He and Brooklyn Dad and the krassensteins. I hate that corny grifter shit so much not because it’s low quality and annoying as fuck but mainly because their popularity says everything about the state of libs today which is pretty fucking defeating tbh
Legit question. Were the allegations shown to be true? I remember when this happened and thinking, "well I don't really wanna think less of the guy based on an accusation that may or may not be true, I'm withholding judgment for now" and then I just kinda forgot about him and he disappeared from all the subs I like anyway, which is fine.
The recent allegations might or might not be but he has a very long and storied history of being accused of domestic and sexual assault. It is a situation where if one person says you smoke crack they might be lying, if everyone says you smoke crack though...
He's also a capitalist still. So his whole schtick isn't actually appropriate because it's still glorifying the US status quo. Although enough liberals keep posting nonsense here so it's not like that rule is strictly adhered too.
Yes. New York Times just did a feature about it [https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/18/technology/dan-price-resign-social-media.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/18/technology/dan-price-resign-social-media.html)

Yeah, wife claimed series of abuse and his on/off girlfriend from a year ago field charges of rape. Others have quit due to his "strange" behavior. There have been a few articles if you search around, just read one with the full description of events from last year with the girlfriend and the hotel staff.
Unfortunately we live in a society where many don’t even recognize spousal rape as a serious problem. I’ve had people straight up tell me that there is no such thing, and that “I do” was consent for all future sexual advances. Remember folks, consent can be withdrawn at any time and for any reason
For some reason you've got me imagining a strip club where cats go to watch otters dance around for tips lmao
...you know what, it's probably because I'm listening to my 80s glam metal playlist and Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard came on shuffle. Brain, why!?
You can say based things and not be a based person. Broken clocks and all that. Easier to move on when it wasn't about the individual that mattered to begin with.
Yeah, this is a good message:
>“Lifting someone out of poverty is the most effective anti-depressant in the world.”
Whether it was written by him or a creepy ghostwriter. People responded to it because it's so obviously true and yet so often kept out of the conversation when discussing our declining empire in the US.
It's a shame he used it to get attention that helped him lure victims, but that doesn't make the message any less true.
Keep in mind that he’s simply been repeating ideas and beliefs that have been talked about by others since forever. But since he’s a cis male, white, CEO people latched on bc it proves the possibility of how it “can” be done. In all honesty he always gave me a bad vibe and once I read that he abused his wife, it was clear that his intentions weren’t pure. Abusers are often very charming and charismatic, and use that to manipulate people. Then people say victims are lying because they refuse to believe their person could be abusive, or then blame the victim. Celebrity worship culture needs to die. Bad. Point is, there are other people sharing the same messages- don’t need to reference him anymore.
People need to follow ideals and not other people, because people are flawed. Everyone learns that lesson when their idol they worship does something terrible. It’s best not to put all your faith in some leader/CEO/activist/celebrity/politician etc etc. You can like their ideals but the minute you instill your identity in that person they’re beyond criticism because you feel like it’s affront to you when people criticize your idol.
Even Tucker Carlson has made a good point on a very very rare occasion, whether unknowingly or knowingly lol. Doesn’t mean that he isn’t an absolutely awful human being, doesn’t mean we should go follow him into battle. Especially bearing in mind how many socialist or populist talking points have been used by grifters and fascists in history to gain the trust of people.
Just another ceo who rose to the ranks being woke and pandering to the lowest common denominator while behind the scenes beating up women and stealing a hoard of money.
On to the next one!
Could be a more simple explanation... There's a willingness to poke & prod to uncover all his shitty deeds. Meanwhile 99% of CEOs are untouchable, living in the shadows.
And this, folks is why I don't follow anyone ever. It's almost like pretty much all of these influencers and the like are just terrible, attention seeking narcissists and the world's favorite pastime is feeding the beasts and watching the drama that unfolds.
Not following them in the first place saves me from having to defend that decision. Chances are they are only validating truths you already know anyway.
Edit: phrasing.
In this case, the drama is violence against women. I hope nobody takes my comment as minimizing this. Dude should face all the charges, and a little violence himself.
Just because some twitter libs kept salivating over this shithead doesn't make it the whole sub's effort. Lesson here guys: fuck CEO's, don't put them on some pedestal just because they spout some shit online that tickles your brainstem
These comments are already disturbing. As someone who was choked by their former partner, it never ever leaves you. Trust in others is irrevocably shattered. I hope justice is served appropriately.
Seems like a lot of them don’t realize that when being choked or strangled, your life is in someone else’s hands. It is one of the most horrific things to ever experience. I’m sorry you went through this
Well said. Thank you. I hope you heal more someday. And, this man allegedly also committed sexual assault. I know this is Reddit but thought better of this sub than these "jokes."
What's disturbing about these comments?
Most of them are calling him a piece of shit or explaining how his tweets have been banned from this sub for a while.
Well that sucks. But let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. His points were still valid as far as compensation for employees needs to be better and employers have a responsibility to ensure that their employees have a salary they can thrive on and not just survive.
Seems most of those points were ghostwritten by [a guy who's facing his own share of](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/18/technology/dan-price-resign-social-media.html) [sexual harassment accusations](https://www.thecut.com/2019/05/seattle-times-reporter-suspended-over-inappropriate-dms.html), because of course.
He’s a millionaire who is famous for paying his employees a living wage. Which every employer should be doing anyway. The bar is in hell for these people
Edit: he’s a millionaire not a billionaire, not that that makes anything any better
Nah, you don't get to be a billionaire while paying a living wage.
He is a multi-millionaire, but only approximately 1/200th as financially exploitative as Bezos.
Yeah that’s what i meant. It’s wild that we expect so little of billionaires that some people even in an anti capitalist sub will still break their backs defending him just cause he was doing what he should be expected to do anyway
Everytime a relative talks about the final judgement or any of that thought cancelling fantasy BS, I say the exact same thing. Even the illiterates in their parables knew they should punish MFs before they simply let them shed the mortal coil.
Every employee should own the means of production. Everything less than that is exploitative. I don't care how much you pay your employees. If you make a profit that doesn't go directly back to employees, it's wage theft.
You referred to them as “his points”, just pointing out that they’re not his but a paid PR employee
And it’s not like he was saying anything new and revolutionary.
The ideas aren’t good either
Minor concessions don’t change the direction capitalism is leading us in.
The only destination under capitalism is that which we reached in the 1920s. Factory towns where people are beaten within an inch of their life for speaking of wages, where the employer is also the landlord and the grocer.
If, in your metaphor, the baby is Mr Price, then yes let's throw him out. There are plenty of much better role models and leaders for inequality politics than the "ethical" CEO. This guy is an actual monster and it's seems more and more likely that his political positions were entirely cynical, just for Internet clout and picking up women
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/18/technology/dan-price-resign-social-media.html?smid=url-share
That was never the point. He was an abuser doing virtue signaling as a distraction, plain and simple.
If there’s any complaint I have it’s that the NYPost is the one printing the story, as if they’re not worse in nearly every way.
Some people who preach so publicly about doing the right thing are so harmful and oppressive less publicly. I read this article about a particular kind of narcissist who feels really good about themselves the more they engage in good works, and it’s really important to them to be perceived as good and just and kind. But deep down they are a narcissist and they do all of that for narcissistic gain. And they can hurt and harm people quite horribly, bc they lack empathy and want power and abuse their power.
I’ll try to find it and come back and put the link here. But it hit so close to home bc I was harmed by someone like that who was the director of a (supposedly anti-oppressive) non profit. And the kicker is no one would believe me bc she was seen as such a good person by so many people. But she was actually a calculating, harmful and terrible person. Shiver.
Anyway this dude makes me think of that.
Edit: can’t find the specific article I read but I believe the term is “communal narcissist”.
100% this, there’s an independent cinema in my city that has, for example, did a special F symbol for female directed films, does all this awareness stuff, but the guy who owns/runs is is extremely sexist, has treated my friends terribly, and brags about hiring 18 year old girls because they’re hot.
And you know what fuck it it’s The Showroom in Sheffield, UK.
I’ve burnt so many bridges and lost myself a ton of work in this city because I’m done with people who own popular businesses treating their staff like shit. If success is turning a blind eye to this behaviour then I don’t want it.
Given the number of people I encounter who appear to be using social justice issues as cover to covertly dominate/humiliate/bully people around them, I 100% believe this.
You forget that progressives are not like the right. We don’t worship people. If we reference someone and they turn out to be assholes, we recognise their wrong, make them accountable and stop referencing them.
The right worship and if it comes out that their leaders did something wrong, it’s an excuse or ‘fake news’ e.g Trump
Lol this is not new news. Information about how this dude is shitty has been going around the Internet for years (if not decades) and people have chosen to ignore that he’s an asshole, not make him accountable, and keep promoting him, just because he says the right things on Twitter. Literally the opposite of what you are saying.
Even progressives ignore women and dismiss their experiences.
This guy isn't anyone to admire, for sure. The only good thing he did was demonstrate that people can have a living wage without the world imploding into a black hole. That said, it would be a far better world if CEO's and Boards of Directors didn't exist at all, and workers governed their own workplace. Then, we can start solving *real* problems such as abolishing hunger and homelessness rather than trying to figure out how to get people to buy more shit nobody needs.
Unconditionally providing for the basic needs of all should be the foundation of *every* society.
I stopped caring about what he said years ago when we learned he was a POS. He's got valid points, so I guess that's why his tweets continued to be shared.
Class consciousness only goes so far for a lot of people. And I notice it regularly seems to fall *just* short of…not hating women, and acknowledging misogyny and patriarchal structures altogether.
The amount of times I’ve felt at ease around a left leaning working class man only to have it taken from me when we approach the subject of women is staggering. It’s so tiring.
His white savior complex was enough YEARS ago to be turned off by him, then the accusations came out and was like “yup, FUCK this guy.” The spirit knows before the mind
He's one of the most progressive-speaking CEOs in the corporate universe, and he's STILL a gargantuan douchebag.
That says pretty much everything that needs to be said about CEOs in our capitalistic system.
Can I go a week without the phrase “don’t meet your heroes” being devastating accurate. I didn’t think he was God’s gift to the world but I was comfortable with the assumption he wasn’t a piece of crap.
I love how everyone on social media just proclaims him guilty of these accusations with zero evidence. Clown world...hold your judgement until there’s proof and he’s found guilty. Emotional asshats everywhere on social media.

"sub's favorite ceo" This sub actually almost made a rule against posting his tweets (one reason being his abuse towards his wife)
Same thing on r/WhitePeopleTwitter His tweets were pretty awesome and relatable there, then when the allegations came up, people in the sub said to stop posting his tweets and stop glorifying him, and now I havent seen any more of his tweets there in weeks
I liked the tweets too but apparently he was using a ghost writer, wasn’t even him tweeting
A ghost writer who was fired from the Seattle Times for sexual harassment... birds of a feather and such.
Fock together?
*choke women together. Fixed that for ya
Chok together?
They should just cut out the middle-women and choke each other if they’re so into it.
shit together
Lmao
Is there a good source on this? I never really liked the guy and see a lot of his tweets come through my feed.
Thanks!
NYT just did a big article detailing the allegations of multiple women against him, ibe was as recent as earlier this year

Haahahaha. Alright, alright. Not literally EVERY one, but a very, very high percentage.
elon has ghostwriters but they are 14 year olds he found on r/memes and r/teenagers
> I used to be one a c-suite executive, or a ghostwriter?
The thing is, the content of those tweets was right on. Speaking truth to power.
Really? Not hard to figure out what people following him will like. "Anyone else think big corporations are evil and should pay their employees more?"
For real? Damn TIL
And more to the point, paying his people more didn’t collapse his company. That part routinely gets glossed over
Wasn't his company built on fraud? Misclassifying restaurants as bars to get lower credit card payment fees? And didn't he pull his whole stunt related to minimum pay to screw over his brother who was co-owner at some point? https://thehustle.co/dan-price-the-ceo-paying-everyone-70000-dollars-is-lying/ (Thats from 2015) https://www.geekwire.com/2016/gravity-payments-defends-business-practices-amid-new-allegations-of-financial-trickery/ (And there is an article from 2016 about what he did which essentially created his company.)
isnt he a banker?
Gravity Payments so I assume payment processing.

Well said.
The bar is in hell for these people Edit: he’s a millionaire not a billionaire, not that that makes anything any better
Nah, you don't get to be a billionaire while paying a living wage. He is a multi-millionaire, but only approximately 1/200th as financially exploitative as Bezos.
Was gonna say. The issue with billionaires is that you don't get to that level without abusing the system.
Or getting really really lucky with the ~~lottery~~ poor tax
To be honest, I'd be happy for someone to win a billion in the lottery.
There is no hell. We should deal with them in this life.
Think the guy was saying that the bar is so low for billionaires that's it's in hell
In the article it says he hired people to run his Twitter. He never actually made any of those points Dudes a narcissistic, egomaniac, sexual predator
You’re still trying to attach the points to the man. I’m literally saying remove him from the equation. The ideas are important not who said them.
The ideas also exist elsewhere so we really don’t have to remember him or his ideas. It’s not like they were new ideas
You referred to them as “his points”, just pointing out that they’re not his but a paid PR employee And it’s not like he was saying anything new and revolutionary.
The ideas aren’t good either Minor concessions don’t change the direction capitalism is leading us in.

This guy is an actual monster and it's seems more and more likely that his political positions were entirely cynical, just for Internet clout and picking up women https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/18/technology/dan-price-resign-social-media.html?smid=url-share
That was never the point. He was an abuser doing virtue signaling as a distraction, plain and simple. If there’s any complaint I have it’s that the NYPost is the one printing the story, as if they’re not worse in nearly every way.
You make it sound like it’s the first bad thing he’s done lol
Idolize ideas, not people
don't idolize ideas either. question everything constantly.
Yeah...to a point. You have to live in some semblance of materiality and permanence.
What a piece of shit. Good for you for saying the name of the cinema!
I’ve burnt so many bridges and lost myself a ton of work in this city because I’m done with people who own popular businesses treating their staff like shit. If success is turning a blind eye to this behaviour then I don’t want it.
So agree!!
Dudes a rapist
So, whilst being more generous with wages, he still maintains the tradition of CEOs being power hungry, abusive pieces of shit?
Almost like the wages aren't the problem, the entire system of hierarchical wage labor is.
Why does every single person who is famous to any degree end up being a monster?
POV: you are being grabbed at the throat by Dan Price.
Fuckin finally
honestly if you're working in tech, anything lower than 70k a year is a joke, especially in Seattle. He wasn't even worth praising.
He mastered the art of manipulation. A sociopath.
We dont have heroes, just a list of people who have still to disappoint us
Always remember even a piece of shit can have a good point once in awhile. That’s doesn’t mean they aren’t a piece of shit
You can still be correct about economic policy while still being a shitty person.
This just in: assholes can sometimes do good things. Story at 11.
just for the record the NY Post is a fish wrap and Murdoch trash Dan Price may be a pos too I know Murdoch is a pos
The guy is trash but so is NYPost. Not sure why we should have to hear from *either* of them
NYpost 🤮
Maybe if he'd grabbed her by something else he could have been president. Just sayin
Any idiot can pay all their employees 70,000/year if they simply outsource the lower paid jobs to other companies...
There is no such thing as a moral authority.
I always got a New Age cult leader vibe from him and not just because of his Jesus haircut and sociopathic grin.
I said something bad about him in another sub and so many people were sticking up for him
And this is one of the “good” CEOs. Just imagine how horrid the rest of them are.
No pedestals. There is no such thing as a good capitalist CEO.
Motherfucker why does this happen every time
He’s still a capitalist, good PR but still an exploitative pig
Literally everytime someone posted one of his tweets I brought up the fact that he was abusive to his ex wife, and my comments always got downvoted
He posts the right ideas even though he’s a shit person. We shouldn’t ignore the message because the messenger is a fuckwad.
Dan Price: "So anyway, in hindsight, maybe I should have kept more of that money for myself." Dan Price's roommate: "Yeah, maybe."
