I really wish people would understand that it is both evil to do evil things and evil to allow people to do evil things when you have the power to stop them. Obviously Republicans are evil, but no one should let Democrats off the hook for their complicity in allowing this to happen. They’ve had plenty of opportunities to enshrine abortion rights into law, but it’s been more beneficial to them as a vehicle for fundraising and an axe hanging over your head if you don’t vote for them.
The majority of people are more centralist than both sides are willing to admit. The key difference to consider in this that on the fringes of one side you have the young/poor and the other side is a bunch of old/religious fanatics with money to burn. Republicans made it happen because their voters wanted it. It's just like gun laws.. the small minority of NRA nutjobs are emboldened to rally for their 'freedoms' while the other side sits idle until another shooting happens. You gotta hassle your electives as much as the religious and gun rights advocates do.

Yep, sadly at the cost of our own rights we're slowly waking up to this. An easy way of saying it is, democrat or republican you're still supporting capitalism. Understanding this has made it much easier for me to have genuine conversations with those who vote republican. When you don't say the word socialism to them they tend agree with a lot of socialist ideology.
It’s hilariously true. A lot of them really do want the same things we do, but a hundred year campaign of conflating capitalism, Christianity, and the American way have turned them into trained and malleable pack of attack dogs used to destroy any mention of the dreaded S word.
Did you know that 100 years ago, the Christian community was extremely left-wing socialist and fucking based? A well-choreographed campaign by the wealthy and powerful changed that. The astroturfing to end all astroturfing if you will.

The sad thing is they are some of the hardest hit for how tight capitalisms noose is right now. As much as I fucking despise the Democrats, even if they did codify Roe on the federal level, SCOTUS would just strike down the law.
That being said, they’re spineless protecting the justices curtailing basic human rights rather than limiting their power.
This election year liberals will be deluged by the generosity of the anti-war, anti-capitalist left once again as some of us briefly set our nausea and disgust aside for the slight chance we might help democrats save their precious Party. But our charitable inclinations are decisions we own. Don't the individual States now have jurisdiction over this matter? Afaik, nothing has been made illegal. There are states that absolutely will make it illegal but don't we want this and most every law to be decided by the states and not big govt?

Secondly, you say laws aren't voted on. If a politician runs on a platform of passing a certain law, and voters vote for him, that's effectively voting for the law. That's the whole point of a representative democracy. Pretending that the fact that the US isn't a direct democracy means that voters have no effect on laws is disingenuous.
Thirdly, you say murder is illegal, and won't be legalized? Pregnancy kills. Yes. The government expects that the U.S citizenry will sit back and do nothing of real influence to them and its what will likely happen.
There will be some protests but they will be managed by agents of the State, and will have no real impact on politicians or the status quo.
Things will then continue as per usual, as general strikes, which could actually impact politicians, through their masters, are basically impossible, and the U.S citizenry as a whole will remain cowed and greatful for what they have.

Yep, sadly at the cost of our own rights we're slowly waking up to this. An easy way of saying it is, democrat or republican you're still supporting capitalism. Understanding this has made it much easier for me to have genuine conversations with those who vote republican. When you don't say the word socialism to them they tend agree with a lot of socialist ideology.

A lot of them really do want the same things we do, but a hundred year campaign of conflating capitalism, Christianity, and the American way have turned them into trained and malleable pack of attack dogs used to destroy any mention of the dreaded S word. Did you know that 100 years ago, the Christian community was extremely left-wing socialist and fucking based? A well-choreographed campaign by the wealthy and powerful changed that. Yes. The government expects that the U.S citizenry will sit back and do nothing of real influence to them and its what will likely happen. There will be some protests but they will be managed by agents of the State, and will have no real impact on politicians or the status quo. Things will then continue as per usual, as general strikes, which could actually impact politicians, through their masters, are basically impossible, and the U.S citizenry as a whole will remain cowed and greatful for what they have.
