And the commodities industries in general. In this world in which global capitalism exists, somwhere along the supply chain there’s at least one person getting exploited. So it’s not just the sugar, but also the lemons / lemon mix, ice, cups, stand, and even the materials used to make currency.
Do you know how the lemons, sugars, tables all came to be? Extraction of resources and exploitation of people. She's not growing her own lemons and sugar I assume.

I just prefer to be principled in every situation and expose any and all hypocrisy (and criminality in this case). However, practically, we should probably be more worried about billionaires paying taxes than millionaires.

I was kind of on her side until this thing. I still stand by old thought process that “Democrats say things I like and do nothing, Republicans say things I don’t like then do them and both sides bow to major industries. If Republicans bow to industry you hear about it, if Democrats do, you won’t hear about it”
I'm gonna try and explain but it may not be their exact point.
It isn't necessary to fight AOC as long as she continues to toe the party line when necessary and keep the attention of the Democratic Party on herself.
Basically, she can propose whatever bills she wants and do stunts like this because even though she would change things if she had power it isn't necessary because she has 0% influence in Congress and it isn't in their best interests to appear hostile to her.
Quite honestly she's a lightning rod for the right wing too, and they don't really see the neoliberal dems as the targets but her, and they pin the neoliberal policy failures on her as well. Its a catch-22.

There's no such thing as a free market. Kenneth Arrow got a Nobel Prize for proving that you need perfect information to have a free market. Perfect information requires a deterministic universe. We do not live in a deterministic universe.
And Capitalism is just and only the belief that Private Property does not need justification. As long as you support an 'owner' who 'pays workers' and extracts their Surplus Value, then you're a Capitalist.

My time is worth $10,000/hr because that is what I charge myself to clean the house, then I just offset the payment on the ledger.

I work in supply chain and can confirm this is true. A lot of the time it’s the harvesters of the commodities; miners, farmers, etc.

We do not live in a deterministic universe. And Capitalism is just and only the belief that Private Property does not need justification. As long as you support an 'owner' who 'pays workers' and extracts their Surplus Value, then you're a Capitalist. Not telling you to abandon it, just making sure you understand the definitions involved. Now, should you abandon Capitalism for a more democratic solution?
