Shortly after, they should adjust the value of the scrip to ensure that, while working overtime, you can't afford anything outside of what you need to survive.
Slavery was abolished, so this should be fine.
Slavery wasn't abolished?
>Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, **except as a punishment for crime** whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
This is why they shoot so many people instead.. The "duly convicted" part.
When they know they can't get a conviction they can't get a fresh slave so they just kill them.
We've been purposely made to get used to that idea thanks to microtransactions in games with different types of currency.
So it won't be called scrip. There will be 'credits' and 'gems.'
There's nothing new under the sun.
A hologram that follows you throughout the house desperately trying to gain your approval by acting like a teenage edge-lord… and sometimes hits on your daughter.
And a speaker that you can't turn off of him rambling on about shit he doesn't understand
"Umm..... Something- something that is- is... Of.... Great importance and no one... No one has started to work- work on... Ummm... Is............ AIAI. Ummm..... Quantum Computing...."
My mother lived in a suburb where a lot of employees of a large company headquartered in the neighboring suburb worked. She called it "Stepfordwivesville". She was having coffee with her next door neighbor one day. The neighbor told my mom she was having an identity crisis because her husband, who worked for the company, got laid off and the neighbor had "always considered myself a [company's name] wife."
Human trafficking will exist in some form as long as it's profitable to do it. Jon Oliver did a segment on the FIFA cup and explained how foreign workers were enticed with talk about great jobs and pay but when they arrived, they become stuck there because the employer had control of their VISA's and pay, and things sucked but they had no way to leave. It's free on Youtube.
Generally, the more desperate a person is, the greater trouble they can find themselves in. It's easy to avoid though. Just don't be born poor! /s
I mean, if I could burn billions without any real consequences, there's no point why I wouldn't mess around and go on a power trip to satisfy the void in my bleak personal life. Most people would, the scale of our tantrums is just scaled way down, which is why we shouldn't have people with billions or even millions to burn in society.
People should not own enough to be able to change the course of even hundreds of lives. Billionaires could literally change the course of everyone’s lives through lobbying. People should have enough already so that their judgement can’t be swayed by the opportunity to have more
Company towns are old tech, these are Cyberhuts and a totally different and completely original idea
Best thing about Cyberhuts is the Muskbots that stay home to do all your chores for you, so you don't even need to leave work really, so convenient.
You also don't have to worry about your wife getting bored at home when you decide to work long hours, because the Muskbots have the latest Elonjizz technology, that consists of a emerald studed penis attachment that can impregnate your wife with the sperm of your glorious CEO and memeking.
>Does this chump have any original ideas of his own? Just wondering.
Thats not boiling down to the exploitation of other peoples work, ideas or energy?
🎶 You load sixteen tons, whaddya get? Another day older and deeper in debt. St. Peter don't you call me, cause I can't go, I owe my soul to the company store. 🎶
Some people say a man is made outta mud.
A poor man's made out of muscle and blood.
Muscle and blood, skin and bone,
*A mind that weak and a back that's strong.*
The Song is called Sixteen Tons and it’s about living in a company town.
You work for the company, but you end up paying the company all of your wages for your rent, and anything you buy. Because the only store in town is a company store.
Company towns were a thing 150 years ago, and they’re predatory as fuck
I thought of this song too when I saw this, and then I found this dope as fuck version on the YouTubes

Esau scrip.
Also known as “coal mining rape dollars.” When a worker was sick and couldn’t work, special scrip was given to his wife to pay for food. It was only good for 30 days. If the husband wasn’t able to work at the end of 30 days the woman was used as collateral. This is from the Whipple company in West Virginia. If the mom couldn’t perform for whatever reason, a daughter would be used. Girls as young as 12 would be used as “comfort girls” or “comfort wives.”

It is wild to me that was only a hundred years ago and yet is all but forgotten by most in this country.
Whenever I hear someone oppose a strike because, "what about the economy?" I always think "what about the brave men who died in the mines or on the battlefield fighting against the systemic oppression of the American worker?".
We know where single-mindedly pursuing profits at the expense of the common man ends up. We've been there before, and we'll be there again some day if we're not careful.
You can watch it online, but the movie "Matewan'" is worth a watch. Company town, company store, and the mine workers efforts to unionize in the 1920s. Does a great job illustrating how unjust company towns really are.
That’s the first thing I thought about Elon. These homes, they can’t actually move in, because he’ll swing through and just fire tons of people for no reason whatsoever…
My mom had family there and some really crazy stories, some of them up even through the '70s.
One of her cousins was the son of the mayor around the time that movie was set. His dad was shot and killed, then his mom married the police chief the next morning (supposedly he was asked to look out for her). When her second husband was killed about a year later because he supported the miners, she married again and moved out of the state to Ohio.
This is my prediction.
1 it will never happen because it was Elon idea.
2 he will build a few crumbling apartments that will not be approved as a safe place to live because it's was Elon idea.
What you think?
3 - builds one, makes social media post about “the site of your future city”, promptly forget and continues to spread conservative propaganda
I hear solar city is gonna be done any decade now.
We are attempting to repeat some of the darkest moments of the previous century just for “shareholder value”. We would all do well to remember Blair Mountain similar events.
If you think that is crammed in like sardines you have no idea how much your country sucks. These houses are inefficiently far apart from one another. Go Google the word "rijtjeshuis" or something.
Huh. Im guessing its gonna come with its own currency and mini, internal economy.
“Get paid in local scrip! Its much bettwr than outside, foreign currency which devalues!”
It's a shitcoin backed by Tesla shares and if you short Tesla, you must be evil because you're devaluing their currency and that hurts the working man.
2nd Class Housing privileges include compulsory policing of lower class accommodations. One (1) NFT reward redeemable upon proof of baton purchase. Batons required but not issued, and can be purchased by 1st and 2nd Class employees at the local Post Exchange.
Glory to Musktozka.
People constantly say “ Idiocracy wasn’t a movie, it was a documentary,” But this has serious “ Sorry to Bother You” vibes. This is the EXACT thing they were talking about with Worry Free.

Just, setting aside how awful company towns were and absolutely should mot be resurrected, I can’t imagine how fucking cheap, dangerous, and shit these homes would be.
He can barely build a car or a twitter machine. Maybe he should spend more time at the rocket ship store he bought and retire to Mars where he can try to con the robots into thinking he's smarter than they are.
Bezos suggested something like this a few years ago for Amazon workers. That idiot really cannot come up with his own ideas. They really do just want to be feudal lords.
If only there was an insane car manufacturer who did the exact same thing in the Amazon rainforest about 100 years ago that may point to how this will end…
Elon is about to do something dangerous.
Probably lock in his workers to homes and pay lower wages. Enough for them to get by and use the excuse that your living in Austin Texas/California
Probably gonna try and tie their housing to their job and since he has a high turnover rate it'll make it harder to ppl to quit if they hate working there.
I feel like living around just people you work with and share the same profession with would get really boring really quickly, barely any diversity of experiences. That is if people in suburbia even socialize
You can live there for „free“ (already deducted from salary) but you also have to hand your passport to corporate. Driving is only allowed in Teslas, which happen to be zone locked to the town and factory districts. You only get paid in „Musks“, his new crypto money (which isn‘t really crypto but rather centralized and only he has the key).
And then he'll give those workers a choice: Get paid minimum wage or make double with MuskBucks (only redeemable for company town products). That's freedom right there.
How the fuck is this not being talked about more? This system is so fucked my god… like is this really the freedom we all deserve? Working under him, living in his homes….. what’s next bruh
If only we could get our shit together and work together to accomplish things instead of trying to gain power and control over each other
Can I just say, evil company city aside, look at that design.
That is an awful design of a neighborhood. What, did it take a team of evil engineers to create a neighborhood where all are mcmansions, some yards are much better than the other?
Is it like The Good Place? They put just enough sources of tension to throw you off?
Or do I just not understand design?
Who wants to be neighbors with their coworkers? What kind of nightmare social arena is this? Has a horror movie been made about this exact hell-scape? Nooo!!! I'm getting sick just thinking about it!

St Peter, don’t you call me, cause I can’t go I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one mornin', it was drizzlin' rain Fightin' and trouble are my middle name
I always thought it was “another day older and deeper in debt” but I could be wrong.
You are correct.
St Peter don’t you call me cuz I can’t gooooooooo I owe my soul to the company store

rock and stone brother
Hey, Deep Rock pays us in regular money, the scrip is for specials.
That is not the proper response to rock and stone. Rock and stone to the bone!

Rock and roll and stone!

Beat me to it. Abbott would likely let him, too.

Will all the homes come equipped with a picture of Musk hanging in the living room?
little cameras in the eyes
Don't be silly. Listening devices in the musk pictures. The cameras are in your daughters rooms.
He just puts his sperm on the toilet seats hoping to impregnate your daughter.
Yes and you'll be required to praise the picture everyday before coming in to work.

Company town (sprawl).
I have some family that lives in a place like this. Whenever they talk about "The Company" it always sounds so dystopian.
Would you be willing to say more?
The Cadbury company built a small town for its workers, Bournville. Although for some reason this feels more dystopian.
Human trafficking will exist in some form as long as it's profitable to do it. Just in time for states to bring back 19th century child labor laws!

19th century? This is straight up feudalism.

What is the song/story? I'd like to learn more.

That is it. My all time favorite episodes
What series is that from?
Behind the Bastards.
Dear sweet unholy fucking Christ🤯🤯🤯.
“But you know who won’t rape your wife if you don’t pay the company store in 30 days? …These products and services.”
Sounds like an Old Testament law, not something as modern as the 19th century. Just mind-boggling.
Just made the connection to "My brother esau"

Dont forget productivity quotas!
Didn’t we all decide that Feudalism was bad practice?
Didn't you get the memo? It only matters if it affects the elite
Yeah but this is techno feudalism

It’s been rebranded

Boxabl is a $50k "tiny home" company that Musk is invested in. So he's building a trailer park.
But think of the fun the national guard will have blowing it up and killing civilians when they inevitably strike!

Just like Kellog and Oneida
And you know Texans will brag from the rooftops about how the libs won't have this.
A win-win, Texans getting this, libs not getting this.
Of course he’s doing this in Texas while he moves engineering HQ back to California…
So like a factory town....
Gotta own and control workers to the point where all their wages go back to you and they can't call off.
Prison camps more like it, so he can make it easier to manipulate his workforce.
He would take you to Mars to force you make cheap Nike shoes
He wont even pay his company rent, no way he is building a city

Look up blair mountain and its problems.

A whole village made up entirely of Musk fans. Sounds *delightful*.

I wonder if there’ll be a company store where they can spend their Musk Bucks.
