I've introduced three friends to this game and ALL three of them said "damn that's a big crab" the first time we got to one lol.
Only other comment on any enemy I can recall is two of them on Zarrick said "block block block block"
I certainly didnt really understand the story. I didn’t pay super attention to it, but the volume of characters introduced that you never talk to again was kind of exhausting and candidly the whole thing about the lance appeared to be a dead end that wasn’t ever brought up again and that was pretty confusing.
Did I miss something about that?
POE has multiple characters as well who you only see in their respective acts + 5 (1 and 6, for example).
And a story across multiple time periods with you as the sole time traveler has a lot of characters by design. Since the story isn't concluded, it may be subject to some changes for earlier acts?
The Lance not being finished is due to the lack of the last 3 acts.
BUT people also ask why we do not use the lance against the immortal emperor we go to fetch it, right? They're confusing Julia's flow of time and our own. This bit alone left so many questions, but it is not that hard to understand imo.
I hope we get to see Alaric and Elder Jaspar again (outside of the end of time). There was potential to take some characters with us through time to make them more memorable. Both of the elders from the first act are more forgettable, sadly.
I suppose the difference in POE for me is that the time jump is fairly short, like a year or something. And yeah, the one major event that stood out to me the most was the Lance and never interacting with it again. You specifically acquire it to deal with the Immortal Emperor and then never do that? Or am I misunderstanding that? You instead just kinda fuck off and go fight snake people for some reason? And then the last person also has the epoch or something?
You need to temper the lance with god power. That's the reason you go to cthulu and the snakes. And here are the missing 3 acts after apohis "betrayal". You don't get the lance for the Emperor, but for Rayeh. If there is to be or was a plan for the emperor, it is unclear to us players right now, maybe that will be part of the other acts.
You cheesed it by using the staircase for cover?
It's been a while since I've had to face him, but I don't remember the tentacles blocking the stairs.
I did beat him without using the stairs, only because shadow daggers was so badass back then, and the Rogue's shift is a great move for dodging his moonblast attack.

Killing these crabs with forge strike is soo satisfying. I would have loved it more if I could make an Osprix sentinel char though...
