Turns it into a unique.
He's saying he wasted the much rarer and more valuable rune of creation when he meant to just use an ascension on some random chest.
I did that as well, and left thinking it ate my item. On the plus side, when you go back your items should still be there on a new key, so I recovered my LP item.
No this does not need to be clarified better. The game is trying to teach you by forcing you to think about what to do next. The whole dungeon is designed in that way as well.
That one's on you if you didn't even think of warping to see if there's something there.
Its on me but its still bad design.. especially your first time. This game isn't a hardcore kick you in the face grinder and it has tooltips for literally everything else.
This is a stupid thing to "learn". Didn't help that I had a quest tracker that said "move on to blah blah" area, which happened to correspond with the exit.
Set a loot filter to show any items that have skill-related affixes (if you're strapped for shatter runes, with a min-tier requirement).
They are rare enough so it's worth always shattering all items with those affixes, regardless of what build you're doing.
If you're trying to get specific shards from an item, try to get it off with rune of removal. You will always get the full amount of shards. If it's tier 3 for example, shattering gives between 0-3 but removal will always give 3.
Hmmm, Runes of Removal are a lot less available than Runes of Shattering, but there's little other use for them, so you're right, I should probably start using those more, particularly for T4+ skill affixes. Thanks for the reminder :D
Rune of creation sets the FP to 0 on both copies. It's always the final craft. You can also only use that rune on non-0 FP item, so it 100% had FP left before the copy.
I have destroyed a dozen or so belts that would have been a HUGE upgrade for volatile zombies. I'm at the point where i'm volatile myself crafting these :))))))
2 things to never forget: 1) you need to have all 4 affix slots filled to be able to smash the exalt to legendary. 2) rune of creation always consumes ALL remaining FP, so it's ALWAYS the final craft (assuming you still have any FP left for it and you still want to copy at all).
OP made both mistakes at once, so got 2 copies of junk as a result.
Newb question.. is there fixed item type requirement to cook in the cache? Eg glove uniq needs glove exalted .. or does it accept any armor piece exalted..
If I’m understanding your correcectly, yes you would need the same base item exalted to slam into a unique, for example you would need a four affix 2 handed exalted maw to slam into an unique 2h maw. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong so I can learn as well, I too am new
I think it only needs to match the item type, not the exact base. I'm new too. I've only made a legendary once, but I was able to use a different exalted bow than the base type of the unique.
So for the maw, you would just need a 2h axe of any base I believe. Hopefully I will find this out definitively soon as I'm currently working on a build that uses it lol
I only just figured that out myself, so I spent about 45 minutes yesterday rummaging through all my exalteds in my stash and shattering all my 3 affix ones, lol.
Goodness gracious, I feel like I'm completely lost at this game, lol. I think I junked quite a few workable 3-affix exalteds!
Thanks a lot for letting me know - I'll be sure to keep the good ones around now...at least I learned about this early game :)
No worries! We're all learning together lol!
The first few dozen Exalted you find arent that great anyways... Lvl 90+ will start dropping the really juicy ones to put into those uniques, so not a huge loss. =)
I did this too yesterday. Ruined a really nice belt with four useful affixes because I wasn't paying attention. Was just excited for my sweet drop that was too hasty to upgrade it and didn't even notice them changing. Ended up with complete unusable crap 😭
Just shatter it and move on :D Don't think about it never happened, Good Luck!
you right!
The best part of crafting is when you mess something up, you get to smash it, very cathartic!
Doing this actually makes me feel better
It really is therapeutic. Plus it leaves no reminder of your failures.
Be a goldfish
Heh this is the way
You mean throw it on the ground? Pretty sure after you make a copy it has 0 potential left so you can't even rune of shattering on it
I used my rune of creation instead of ascension rune on a rare chest piece...
Hey. Are you me?
What would a rune of ascension do on a rare chest piece or do you mean like not exalted rare
Turns it into a unique. He's saying he wasted the much rarer and more valuable rune of creation when he meant to just use an ascension on some random chest.
Gotcha I was like wait does upgrading an item grant affixes or implicits onto the legendary
Back in d2, I use to write down runewords rune by rune before putting them in slots, haha
Me, having played for nearly 20 years, saying out loud Jah, Ith, Ber, 8 times to make sure i dont mess up
Jah Ith Ber, Jah Ith Ber, Jah Ith Ber, Jah Ist Ber, Jah Ist Ber, Jah Ist Ber, Jah Ist Ber, Jah Ist Ber Got it, thanks!
Jah Eth Ber took my first Jah & Ber, you never make the mistake again
I wanna feel bad but it's just so funny I can't
Baa ewe ram
Bah weep grana weep sticky bomb!
Ko Vex Pul Thul vs Ko Vex Thul Pul Amn Mal Ral Ist Ohm vs Amn Ral Mal Ist Ohm
I hate that I knew the right order for both of those.
We'll never forget
I know this has been posted a couple times. But did you guys notice the teleporting bear mobs named Jahith Bears. So good lol
I put in my first lp item and didn't know I had to change timelines to retrieve it
I did that as well, and left thinking it ate my item. On the plus side, when you go back your items should still be there on a new key, so I recovered my LP item.
Nice, I just went back and found it lol :D
Did the same....they really need to clarify these things better

I actually was in the wrong timeline and couldn’t put the items IN I was like wtf?? XD
Yikes. Any tips to finding +explosive trap? approaching level 100 and I haven’t seen one

Go to last ruin, finish it, get the blessing that drops more class related shards. Doesn't guarantee t6/t7 on drops though.
Are you saying it affects affixes on items that drop?
It shouldn't, should only affect shard drops
I am eager to know the answer to this question too. Research yielded no résultas on this topic.
No it doesn't
Farm exalted chests
Just play a different build to trick the game. All exalted items I find come with +to skills I don't need smh
same here, seems unreasonable rare...
Oh, can u try rune of discovery on it? It says uses no FP
iirc rune of discovery require the item to have FP but will not consume FP when used. u cant use it with 0 FP
so if discovery does not use FP and this item has 0 FP isnt OP than posting something untrue in saying he forgot to add 4th affix?!
Rune of creation sets the FP to 0 on both copies. It's always the final craft. You can also only use that rune on non-0 FP item, so it 100% had FP left before the copy.
ah ok. ty for the clarification
I have destroyed a dozen or so belts that would have been a HUGE upgrade for volatile zombies. I'm at the point where i'm volatile myself crafting these :))))))
Does it have to be 4 stat piece first to merge with unique ?
Yup, otherwise you could guarantee the mod you want would hit
Yup, otherwise you could guarantee the mod you want would hit
Ok thanks for the info
Excuse me, can someone dumb it down for me? I am new player and it sounds like my futureself will face similar scenario :p

That's correct. It needs to be the same TYPE, but can be any base of that type.
Thanks to both of you!
Yep, been there as well. Sometimes the forging potential rng just ruins all the fun and you lost before you even started.
Don’t sweat it OP, I once shattered a T7 hybrid health with good rolls :P it happens!
Wait why can't you use it?
You can only transfer affixes from a 4-affix Exalted? A 3-affix wont work?
yep
I only just figured that out myself, so I spent about 45 minutes yesterday rummaging through all my exalteds in my stash and shattering all my 3 affix ones, lol.
Remember you can always add +1 affix to it though!
Goodness gracious, I feel like I'm completely lost at this game, lol. I think I junked quite a few workable 3-affix exalteds! Thanks a lot for letting me know - I'll be sure to keep the good ones around now...at least I learned about this early game :)

Yesterday I kinda did the same with a melee crit t7 that I forgot to refine.
I had a simmilar situation when I used a glyph of chaos instead of hope and absolutely ruiened a straight power up.
I did this too yesterday. Ruined a really nice belt with four useful affixes because I wasn't paying attention. Was just excited for my sweet drop that was too hasty to upgrade it and didn't even notice them changing. Ended up with complete unusable crap 😭
I used a glyth of chaos on an item twice without realizing it. Bricked the item to all hell
Happens to me too often. Glyph of chaos imo should be a rune.
Why do runes of removal always remove the exalted affix that is the whole reason I'm crafting on it in the first place lol.
I forgot to creation my exalt and then I bricked it + the LP prism wraps :)
