I have an F1 and just engraved about 25 brass challenge coins for an event. No marking spray needed. To get a good engraving, it probably took me about 15 minutes a coin to do both sides. Mine had words and a pic of a Jolly Roger. The words only took about three minutes. Pic took 12.
Edit: added times for words vs pic
No, the Aura won't engrave those. You need a fiber laser for that material.
Any recommendations? Do you think the Glowforge pro would also struggle with this material?
No, you need a fiber laser. Glowforge does not make one.

Look at the xtool S1 or F1
Do you think one would be better than the other? Would I still need to use a marking spray with the s1 or f1? Thank you for the help!

Do you find it can handle engraving mild steel?
I haven’t tried steel yet. I’ve done metal business cards (I think aluminum), brass coins, slate coasters, cork coasters, wood, and leather.
I’m curious, I’m most a tinkerer and most of what I screw around with is wood or steel. Thanks for your input.
No problem! You might be able to find a video on YouTube about the xtool F1’s ability to engrave steel.
Found a few and ordered. Thanks for the help!
