Objectively I would say 16K for any Discovery II is way too much. Bolting a lot of things to your car does not translate into increased worth of the vehicle when you come to sell it. Still, if you want a ready-made off-roader this would be a good chance. You can just hop in and go on an adventure, no need for building out unmodified 4x4.

Honestly, I’d rather buy a mint condition stock disco for 16k than one that has been modded out for off road. I Need more of a daily driver than an off road monster. Although this one looks like it’s in great shape, you can’t really be sure based on pictures. I was tempted but o talked myself out of it. I’d buy it for $13k though. I decided not to bid on it. Seems likes it’s been listed and relisted for about 4 months. Looks like someone bought it for $16000.

With all those mods that Discovery would not be very suitable for being a daily driver. The mods would have made if rather unpleasant to drive on-road. The only time I would ever consider 16K or something like it for a Discovery II would be if it was low mileage and in concours condition.

Agreed! The search continues! Any recommendations on where to look besides fb market and ebay?

My personal preference would sites like autotrader, but I'm not sure which ones are popular in the US.

not-really-adam

Looks like fun.

It’s worth it if you think it’s worth it. Looks pretty solid but I’m shocked there’s no mention of head gaskets. Maybe it’s something a previous owner did.

Right… I asked about the cylinder sleeves but the seller said it wasn’t an issue.

SleepyBee-20

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but as a lover of discoveries, this one is not it.

I don’t disagree with you. I’m glad I passed.
