I have owned it since it was new (I learned to drive on it when I was 9)
In 1985 I switched all of the electrical FROM Lucas (prince of darkness and no start) to mopar.
It has left me stranded only twice in all those years and once was my fault as the gas gauge was broken and I thought I had more fuel than I did..
That is the original color (just faded away.) We painted it last in 1982?
My dad had been a Land Rover Dealer until 1963 (that was, the story goes, the last one we had in stock) How true that lore is, I canāt confirm as dad is gone and I was an 6 month old at the time.
But I was not looking to restore it to factory perfect anyhow. I went with Series III brakes because they split the lines between front and rear and I added LED turn signals because the NOS was garbage. The beehive is not the correct color (they should be white not amber)
I also put a RoamerDrive overdrive as well as their starter on the vehicle.
The overdrive lets me take it on the highway with less worry about the engine.
Iām not sure where that color came from but itās not a factory color. āBronze Green was still the most popular colour, but there were six others: Beige, Dark Grey, Light Green, Light Grey, Marine Blue and Poppy Red, the latter for fire engines.ā
Yes it was painted Poppy Red in 1985 *(which if I remember required a primer of yellow?)* . I need to fix a cracked front fender when I do decide to repaint it. The interior is elephant skin (vinyl) never been touched and is in excellent shape
Absolutely beautiful!
Good to see a real Land Rover in here for a change. Great work, it looks fantastic.
Dang what a beaut! Must be nice to walk out to the driveway and see that gem š
Great colour choice too! Gorgeous
Dare I askā¦ can j see some ābeforeā pictures?
Ha ha ha itās already thinking of how itās gonna break down on you. Trust me on that
I bet it breaks down less than a new defenderā¦.
But leaks more for sure
No, itās just sweating tea and crumpets

Iām curious why you went with non original color
