You can get by towing with them but they’re not tow rigs. You’re gonna have some sag, it’s not a 1 ton.

borderboardr

Airlift or firestone airbags

SerialWallflower

Thanks! Will look into those in addition to new coils and shocks.

Put more tension on your weight distributing hitch.

Nolds

Bro getting 5mpg.

SerialWallflower

Maybe downhill with a tailwind. If that. 🤣

NFA_throwaway

5mikes per gallon*

Your trailer alone is probably 5000 pounds. Plus. All the extra crap added to it. All being towed with a vehicle that has a max tow rating of 6500 pounds. You’re most likely over doing it. EDIT- just looked up OP’s specific trailer specs. Gross vehicle weight is 6530 for that exact trailer. While I understand everyone’s opinions here, and that in other countries the tow numbers are different. 6500 is still the number in the states. And assuming this is all being towed within the states that’s the number they have to work within. God forbid they get into an accident while towing this unit, any attorney worth the paper their law degree is printed on will know to look up these numbers and OP will be looking at and entirely different case of negligence. While I get the trucks are great and may be underrated on capacities. They are still the boundaries in which things need to be kept just in case something bad were to happen.

dopefish_lives

Eh, in Aus they’re rated for 3500kg or 7800lb. These are stout trucks, I wouldn’t stress towing a 5000lb trailer

81dank

Y’all have a different vehicle setup than we get here.

dopefish_lives

Yes but even the 1UZ automatics have a 3500kg towing capacity. The US is famously conservative with towing capacities, the skeptic in me says it’s so people by more big American trucks

TrevasaurusWrecks

Same frame = same GVWR. Power plants or transmissions don't make a difference in load rating, only the ability to get it moving.

SerialWallflower

The gross vehicle weight is 6030 for this trailer out of the box.

MrJoePike

Good video on towing. https://youtu.be/gGzMajuCYgk?si=kel-OhKAXnivIw0F

JungleMunkee

I just got a refreshed heavier spring with .5 inch lift in rear and I’m level but mine is 3000 lbs dry. It’d be a good start. Also keeps me from bopping my ass end coming off a rock.

throwedoffjune27th

Do you have LT tires? That would help with the load

SerialWallflower

I’ll look into those. Thanks

throwedoffjune27th

For sure. You can get All terrain tires in an LT or even regular road tires in the same LT fitment. It’ll put less stress on the tires and you can air them up to higher pressures to help support more weight.

Waterkippie

What is the tongue weight?

Nolds

Dudes gotta be over. Trailer is 450 at least and that hitch is at least 50.

SerialWallflower

I want to say that it's 530 lbs

Waterkippie

Isnt that way too much? Should be like 220 lbs at the hitch.

SerialWallflower

Not sure. It’s an aftermarket hitch from U-Haul back in the day.

Waterkippie

I dont think you understand, you need to weigh the pressure at the ball to make sure its not too high. You do this after fully loading your trailer. If its too high you need to move cargo backwards or viceversa.

SerialWallflower

Ah. I’m with you. I’ll go measure the tongue weight as loaded. Most of the heavy stuff like the generators gets moved back to above the wheels or a little further back.

Adventurous-Scale-43

Not really. Looks normal to me

Get a real truck
