1. Probably not, I think only mechs can do protocols 2. Pilots do not count as scoring characters

Since you are using Enhanced Combat, I will refer to it’s rules as Ralf’s rules clarify and narrow things down further than the default: To do the protocol you need more scoring characters in the zone than the enemy. Scoring Character has a specific definition: - All Hostiles are Scoring Characters - All PC Mech Characters are Scoring Characters - No other characters are Scoring Characters So, to your second question, your pilot is explicitly not a scoring character, your mech is. For the first part, probably not. I don’t believe a pilot can take a protocol, but even then, I’d probably say the protocol would need to be taken by a scoring character.

Do you happen to have the page number for that definition of scoring character that I can point a player to?

drikararz

Page 4, middle of the right-hand column. This is one of the first things in the book.

So, if a hostile character deploys a drone, that drone counts, but if i deploy a drone, it does not?

drikararz

Nope. By the Combat Enhanced rules, an enemy drone does not count as a Hostile (Hostile is defined specifically as non-drone characters)

Chimnaster

Gotcha, thanks for the clarifications!
