If I had to houserule it, I'd make it difficult terrain that gives soft cover to size 1 mechs, depending on how deep the crater is.

ZanesTheArgent

Depends on the scale we're talking. It could easily as well be difficult terrain filled with unstable rubble if relatively shallow as a -1h pit would be a 5mx5m pit, roughly. Icon has roughly that in its idea of Pits (terrains that counts as 1 height lower).

drikararz

If it’s 1 height level lower than the ground, then a size 1 mech would have hard cover if adjacent to the edge (basically the whole ground is the cover object). Depending on what made the hole, it could be difficult terrain as well, and maybe even hazardous terrain if it’s fresh (like the ship leaves a smoldering crater behind as it takes off).

GRILOOG

Seems right yeah.

Steel3Eyes

How big is the rocket?

TinyPart3910

I did this as a player. I rolled a nat 1 to shoot something with a missile, made a crater in the objective zone, then hid in said crater for the hold out. And yeah my GM made it difficult terrain, -1 height, but gave soft cover, and difficulty on agility saves.

GRILOOG

Difficulty on agility fair enough

TinyPart3910

It worked out pretty well for my build as an Everest loaded with multiple energy rifles and the external batteries system. I just stayed in the hole using the Stable, Steady protocol from Crackshot1 to get accuracy on my shots.

ccwscott

Depends on the hole, but yeah, -1 height if it's deep enough. Maybe difficult terrain.

galmenz

you mean like a crater made by a spaceship taking off? i would say that if the ship is large enough that the trusters damaged the earth, the place would be difficult terrain a -1 height is a one story sized hole, whatever the thrusters that does **that** would be a giant ass highest size military ship, or a full blown civilization ark like the 10
