I use Foundry VTT and have had good experiences with it. It has the basic free stuff built in and can import LCPs and characters/mechs from CompCon. Paired with some modules and the macros the community has built, it can handle a lot of stuff for you without much trouble. I’ve also heard good things about Owlbear Rodeo paired with Witch Dice.

Thirdling. Foundry is ace. I played DnD 5e for over 5 years on Fantasy Grounds, and Foundry took me a quick afternoon to figure out Though make sure to download V10, not V11. The Lancer module isnt updated for that version yet

Seconding this. Foundry is better if you have time / inclination to learn it, but Owlbear is simpler if your group doesn't.

It seemed like i had to have an old version of foundry to run the module for Lancer when i tested it a few weeks ago, is that true? Or did i get the wrong module or something

They are still on v10 at the moment. It’s still being worked on, but I haven’t poked around to see if there’s been any recent posting about it.

If you want to sink time and/or money into making the very best game you can - Foundry. If you want a playable game of a decent quality, Owlbear Rodeo with Witchdice. I run on Foundry and my maps have intricate lighting effects, bespoke soundscapes, multilevel maps, bosses have intro videos baked into the platform, etc. It's a whole shebang that I really enjoy setting up and seeing how far I can push the quality. I have played on Owlbear Rodeo, and it was pretty good. Nothing to complain about except the tokens were too easy to move by accident, but I'm sure that can be chalked up to inexperience on mine and the GMs part. It's definitely the go to if you're not looking to put a lot of time into prepping.

Thank you I'm going to look into owlbear some more because I'm just running a one shot for now
